Objective We aimed to explore the association between obesity and depression and the role of systemic inflammation in older *** Adults≥65 years old(n=1,973)were interviewed at baseline in 2018 and 1,459 were followed up in *** and abdominal obesity were assessed,and serum C-reactive protein(CRP)levels were measured at *** status was assessed at baseline and at *** regression was used to analyze the relationship between obesity and the incidence of depression and worsening of depressive symptoms,as well as the relationship between obesity and CRP *** associations of CRP levels with the geriatric depression scale,as well as with its three dimensions,were investigated using multiple linear *** General obesity was associated with worsening depression symptoms and incident depression,with an odds ratio(OR)[95%confidence interval(CI)]of 1.53(1.13-2.12)and 1.80(1.23-2.63),especially among old male subjects,with OR(95%CI)of 2.12(1.25-3.58)and 2.24(1.22-4.11),respectively;however,no significant relationship was observed between abdominal obesity and *** addition,general obesity was associated with high levels of CRP,with OR(95%CI)of 2.58(1.75-3.81),especially in subjects free of depression at baseline,with OR(95%CI)of 3.15(1.97-5.04),and CRP levels were positively correlated with a score of specific dimension(life satisfaction)of depression,P<*** General obesity,rather than abdominal obesity,was associated with worsening depressive symptoms and incident depression,which can be partly explained by the systemic inflammatory response,and the impact of obesity on depression should be taken more seriously in the older male population.

Many viruses can cause respiratory diseases in *** great advances have been achieved in methods of diagnosis,it remains challenging to identify pathogens in unexplained pneumonia(UP) *** this study,we applied next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology and a metagenomic approach to detect and characterize respiratory viruses in UP cases from Guizhou Province,China.A total of 33 oropharyngeal swabs were obtained from hospitalized UP patients and subjected to *** unbiased metagenomic analysis pipeline identified 13 virus species in 16 *** rhinovirus C was the virus most frequently detected and was identified in seven *** measles virus,adenovirus B 55 and coxsackievirus A10 were also *** sequencing also provided virus genomic sequences,which enabled genotype characterization and phylogenetic *** cases of multiple infection,metagenomic sequencing afforded information regarding the quantity of each virus in the sample,which could be used to evaluate each viruses' role in the *** study highlights the potential of metagenomic sequencing for pathogen identification in UP cases.

Objective To investigate genetic and antibiotic resistance characteristics of Campylobacter jejuni(C. jejuni) isolated from Shenzhen. Methods Multilocs sequence typing and agar dilution methods were used to define the genotype and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni, respectively. Results In total, 126 C. jejuni strains were isolated. The prevalence of C. jejuni was 5.3% in diarrheal patients. The prevalence in poultry meat(36.5%) was higher than that in cattle meat(1.1%). However, the prevalence in poultry cloacal swabs(27.0%) was lower than that in cattle stool(57.3%). Sixty-two sequence types were obtained, among which 27 of the STs and 10 alleles were previously unreported. The most frequently observed clonal complexes were ST-21(11.9%), ST-22(10.3%), and ST-403(7.1%). ST-21, ST-45, ST-354, ST-403, and ST-443 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and cattle, whereas ST-45 and ST-574 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and poultry. All C. jejuni were resistant to at least one antibiotic. The highest resistance rate was toward ciprofloxacin(89.7%), followed by tetracycline(74.6%), and nalidixic acid(69.0%). Conclusion This is the first report of the genotypes and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni in Shenzhen. Overlapping clonal complexes were found between isolates from patients and cattle, and between patients and poultry.

Objective We aimed to assess the features of notifiable infectious diseases found commonly in foreign nationals in China between 2004 and 2017 to improve public health policy and responses for infectious *** We performed a descriptive study of notifiable infectious diseases among foreigners reported from 2004 to 2017 in China using data from the Chinese National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting System(NNIDRIS). Yunnan province had the highest number of notifiable infectious diseases in foreigners. These data can be used to better inform policymakers about national health priorities for future research and control strategies.

Introduction:Antimalarial drug resistance,especially artemisinin resistance,has been a global threat to reduce morbidity and mortality and to eliminate *** drug resistance surveillance could provide evidence for the efficacy of a national drug policy for treatment of all reported malaria ***:The therapeutic efficacy of dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine(DHA-PPQ)and chloroquine(CQ)for the treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax infection,respectively,was evaluated by enrolling patients between 2016 and *** of molecular markers involved collecting blood samples by passive or active detection and amplifying the drug resistance genes Pfcrt,Pfmdr1,Pfdhfr,Pfdhps,and ***:DHA-PPQ and CQ were effective for the treatment of *** and *** infections,with cure rates>90%and 100%,*** the 2,492 samples,the Pfcrt wild-type CVMNK was the most frequent haplotype(70.1%,1,747/2,492),while 19.4%(484/2,492)displayed the triple mutant haplotype *** total of 228 isolates with sequencing in Pfdhfr and Pfdhps,high mutant prevalence of 98.7%and 95.2%were detected,respectively.A total of 54 non-synonymous mutations in the PfK13 propeller domain were confirmed with a prevalence of 3.5%(87/2,483),and the most common mutation was A578S,with a proportion of 16.1%(14/87),followed by Q613E(6.9%,6/87).Conclusion and Implications for Public Health Practice:DHA-PPQ and CQ,the first line drugs for *** and *** treatment,showed efficacy in *** markers showed high levels of polymorphism and resistance,which revealed an early warning of drug resistance in imported cases.

Human babesiosis is an infection caused by intraerythrocytic protozoa of the genus Babesia and is a worldwide emerging tick-borne disease(1).Babesia is mainly parasitized in erythrocytes of human or other vertebrates and transmitted by the bite of ticks,blood transfusion,or organ transplantation(1).Humans are generally susceptible to Babesia,especially those who are immunocompromised with conditions such as splenectomy or splenic dysfunction,as well as those of old age,with infirmity,or with other severe diseases.
