Photocatalysis has emerged as an effective approach to sustainably convert biomass into value-added ***_(2)is a promising nonprecious,efficient cocatalyst for photooxidation,which can facilitate the separation of photogenerated electron–holes,increase the reaction rates,and enhance photocatalytic *** this work,we synthesized a stable and efficient photocatalysis system of CoSe_(2)/g-C_(3)N_(4)through attaching CoSe_(2)on g-C_(3)N_(4)sheets,with a yield of 50.12%for the selective photooxidation of xylose to xylonic *** light illumination,the photogenerated electrons were prone to migrating from g-C_(3)N_(4)to CoSe_(2)due to the higher work function of CoSe_(2),resulting in the accelerated separation of photogenerated electron–holes and the promoted ***,this study reveals the unique function of CoSe_(2),which can significantly promote oxygen adsorption,work as an electron sink and accelerate the generation of$O2-,thereby improving the selectivity toward xylonic acid over other *** work provides useful insights into the design of selective photocatalysts by engineering g-C_(3)N_(4)for biomass high-value utilization.

A novel computational screening study of single transition metal(TM),TM-doped,and dual TMs-doped on CdS(110)surfaces via DFT calculations is presented,focusing on their stability and catalytic activity,searching for efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen *** based on key performance descriptors allowed to fine-tune the *** indicate that TM dopants can reduce the energy band gap and enhance impurity ***,Rh,and Pd were found to be the best dopants in TM-doped CdS,since their|ΔG_(H)|is 80%smaller compared to the pristine CdS ***,TM1-TM2-co-doped CdS catalysts show better performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to synergistic effects of the two TMs,where Co-Pt,Pd-Pt and Co-Rh co-doping CdS significantly reduced|ΔGH|to less than 0.1 *** point out four promising novel co-catalysts(i.e.,Co,Co-Pt,Co-Rh,Rh-Ag)with very good performance in HER,to be further explored in experimental studies.

The Marplex Convention was established to prevent the manufacture of unmarked plastic explosives and stipulates that a volatile detection agent must be added at the time of ***,to-date,laboratory testing remains the internationally accepted practice for identifying and quantifying the taggants stipulated in the *** this project,portable FTIR and Raman instruments were tested for their ability to detect 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-dinitrobutane(DMDNB),the chemical marker incorporated in plastic explosives that are manufactured within *** both FTIR and Raman instruments detected solid DMDNB(98%purity),field analysis of plastic explosives at an Australian Defence establishment showed that both FTIR and Raman spectra were matched the relevant explosive(RDX or PETN),rather than the DMDNB *** all three plastic explosives tested,the concentration of DMDNB was measured by SPME-GC-MS to be between 1.8 and 2%,greater than the minimum 1%concentration stipulated by the Marplex *** testing with a plastic explosive analogue confirmed that the minor absorption peaks that would characterize low concentrations of DMDNB were masked by absorption bands from other compounds within the ***,while both FTIR and Raman spectroscopy are suitable for detection of plastic explosives,neither rely on the presence of DMDNB for *** is likely that similar results would be found for other taggants stipulated by the Marplex Convention,given they are also present in concentrations less than 1%.

Xinji No. 2 underground coal mine extracts the coal seams #4 and #5. These two seams are highly gassy and gas drainage is required to control mine gas emission and reduce outburst risk. Because the seam permeability coefficient is very low and around 0.1 m^2/(MPa^2·d), a number of technologies have been trialled to enhance the seam permeability prior to gas drainage. Of these technologies trialled, the deep borehole presplitting blasting technology has been proven to be quite effective in increasing permeability. In Xinji No. 2 mine it doubled or sometimes tripled gas drainage volume. This paper describes the technology, its application in the enhancement of seam permeability in Xinji No. 2 coal mine, and its effect on gas drainage performance.

Trade-offs between wood production and forest grouse habitats in two regions with distinctive landscapes

Background:Forest management affects the viability of forest grouse populations,causing alterations to habitat *** the regional level,common targets for wood harvesting and safeguarding of specific habitats are negotiated between various *** potential trade-offs between forest grouse habitats and wood production in the region could support resource-smart decision ***:In this paper,we compiled trade-off curves represented as production possibility frontiers demonstrating the relationship between forest grouse habitat area and wood removal,using a Finnish forestry dynamics model and the Finnish Multi-Source National Forest *** the modelling of forest grouse habitats,a landscape-level occurrence model based on nationwide wildlife triangle census data was *** alternative forest scenarios in terms of wood removal were compiled for two study areas in Finland representing two different landscape *** and conclusions:Results showed that impacts on forest grouse habitats were *** the southern study area,increasing the roundwood harvesting rate affected grouse habitats more strongly as forests were already fragmented for other land uses and became more spruce-dominated over *** the maximum sustainable removal rate was implemented,predicted grouse habitat area was 55%less than in a no-removal *** the eastern study area,a more heavily forested region,the decrease was far lower at 22%.Scenario results were also compared to levels of recorded(business as usual)wood removal and that envisaged by valid regional forestry programmes,and their sustainability in terms of grouse habitat area was *** production possibility frontiers calculated in this study support the evaluation of the loss of suitable habitat caused by different wood harvesting rates,or vice versa,the economic cost of increasing habitat areas.

The one-pot synthesis of ZSM-5-magadiite, ZSM-23-magadiite, and ZSM-5-ZSM-23-magadiite using isopropylamine and 2-propanol as an organic structure-directing agent and co-solvent, respectively, was studied. Zeolite mixtures were prepared by adding 2-propanol （0 to 10wt%） to the reaction solu- tion. The intergrowth of composites was observed when 2-propanol was introduced as a co-solvent into the reaction mixture. Synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scan- ning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The results revealed that the amount of 2-propanol and source of aluminum influenced the nature of the zeolite-magadiite composites formed.

Stability analysis of viscous Z-pinch plasma with a sheared axial flow

Within the magnetohydrodynamics （MHD） frame, we analyse the effect of viscosity on magneto-Rayleigh Taylor （MRT） instability in a Z-pinch configuration by using an exact method and an approximate method separately. It is demonstrated that the plasma viscosity indeed has a stabilization effect on the MRT mode in the whole wavenumber region, and its influence increases with the perturbation wavenumber increasing. After the characteristics and feasibility of the approximate method have been investigated, we apply it to the stability analysis of viscous plasma where a sheared axial flow （SAF） is involved, and we attain an analytical dispersion relation. It is suggested that the viscosity and the SAF are complemental with each other, and a wide wavenumber range of perturbation is possible to be restrained if the SAF and the viscosity are large enough. Finally, we calculate the possible value of viscosity parameter according to the current experimental conditions, and the results show that since the value of viscosity is much less than the threshold value, its mitigation effect is small enough to be neglected. The role of the viscosity in the stabilization becomes considerable only if special techniques are so developed that the Z-pinch plasma viscosity can be increased greatly.

Non-recycling impurities are injected into ohmic HL-2A plasma for the first time. The impurities of titanium and aluminium are injected in the discharges with varying plasma density and current. The convection and diffusion process of the injected impurity ions during the inward phase are qualitatively investigated. The results show that the transport of impurities is much slower in the central region of the plasma than outside of it and that it is greatly enhanced during sawtooth crashes.
