Control Charts for the Shape Parameter of Power Function Distribution under Different Classical Estimators

In practice,the control charts for monitoring of process mean are based on the normality *** the performance of the control charts is seriously affected if the process of quality characteristics departs from *** such situations,we have modified the already existing control charts such as Shewhart control chart,exponentially weighted moving average(EWMA)control chart and hybrid exponentially weighted moving average(HEWMA)control chart by assuming that the distribution of underlying process follows Power function distribution(PFD).By considering the situation that the parameters of PFD are unknown,we estimate them by using three classical estimation methods,i.e.,percentile estimator(P.E),maximum likelihood estimator(MLE)and modified maximum likelihood estimator(MMLE).We construct Shewhart,EWMA and HEWMA control charts based on P.E,MLE and *** have compared all these control charts using Monte Carlo simulation studies and concluded that HEWMA control chart under MLE is more sensitive to detect an early shift in the shape parameter when the distribution of the underlying process follows power function distribution.

This article describes the conception and implementation of a web platform which uses special charts and maps for climate monitoring and *** first it gives an overview of related web applications and their advantages and *** is followed by a basic introduction of current technologies and methods for working with climate data,geospatial web services and visualization ***,the implementation based on prior defined requirements is presented and its strengths and limitations are *** application provides several basic charts for climate analysis,as well as a more complex one which uses a standardized visualization concept which is suitable for comparing different local climates(Walter-LiethStandard).The charts are based on different interpolated datasets with global coverage as well as data from the Global Historical Climate Network(GHCN).Overall,the application enables users to generate individual historical climate charts from the beginning of the twentieth century until present day.

Dynamically integrated regression model for online auction data

We propose a dynamically integrated regression model to predict the price of online auctions,including the final *** from existing models,the proposed method uses not only the historical price but also the information from bidding ***,the prediction accuracy is improved compared with the existing *** estimation method based on B-spline approximation is proposed for the estimation and the inference of parameters and nonparametric functions in this *** minimax rate of convergence for the prediction risk and large-sample results including the consistency and the asymptotic normality are *** studies verify the finite sample performance and the appealing prediction accuracy and ***,when we apply our method to a 7-day auction of iPhone 6s during December 2015 and March 2016,the proposed method predicts the ending price with a much smaller error than the existing models.

DEM parameter calibration of cohesive bulk materials using a simple angle of repose test

The numerical effort of discrete element method (DEM) simulations results in a general idealisation of DEM models that makes the calibration crucial to obtaining realistic simulation results. The angle of repose test has become a standard test for the calibration of DEM parameters of cohesionless bulk materials and is extensively discussed in the literature. One of the most used test methods is the pull-up test of a hollow cylinder filled with bulk material. This paper presents how this basic pull-up test can also be used for the calibration of DEM parameters of cohesive materials by changing the analysis criteria. In contrast to analysing the static angle of repose, the focus lies on the macroscopic flow behaviour during the lifting of the cylinder. Reproducible phases of flow are identified in experiments: the build-up of a stable bulk material column, the convex bending of the column, and the beginning of collapse of the column. Furthermore, the phases are independent of the size and lifting velocity. The convex bending of the bulk-material column combined with the moment of first collapse are introduced as new measurable calibration criteria. These experimental results of wet sand are used for the calibration of related DEM parameters using a simplified JKR cohesion model. The DEM calibration including an analysis algorithm that fits the experimental flow behaviour and the final selection of the relevant parameters (i.e., sliding friction coefficient, rolling friction coefficient, and cohesion energy density) is presented in detail.

The role of clinical diagnosis criteria on the frequency of accommodative insufficiency

AIM: To estimate and compare the frequency of accommodative insufficiency(AI) within the same clinical population sample depending on the type of clinical criteria used for diagnosis. Comparing the frequency within the same population would help to minimize bias due to sampling or methodological variability. methods: Retrospective study of 205 medical records of symptomatic subjects free of any organic cause and symptoms persisting despite optical compensation evaluated. Based on the most commonly clinical diagnostics criteria found in the literature, four diagnostics criteria were established for AI(Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ) based on subjective accommodative tests: monocular accommodative amplitude two or more diopters below Hofstetter's minimum value [15-(0.25×age)](Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ); failing monocular accommodative facility with minus lens, establishing the cut-off in 0 cycles per minute(cpm)(Ⅰ) and in 6 cpm(Ⅱ, Ⅲ); failing binocular accommodative facility with minus lens, establishing the cut-off in 0 cpm(Ⅰ) and in 3 cpm(Ⅱ).RESULTS: The proportion of AI(95%CⅠ) for criteria Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 1.95%(0.04%-3.86%), 2.93%(0.31%-4.57%), 6.34%(1.90%-7.85%) and 41.95%(35.14%-48.76%) respectively, with a statistically significant difference shown between these values(χ2=226.7, Pstatistically significant when considering the monocular accommodative amplitude as the only clinical diagnostic sign.

Comparison of Covariate Balance Weighting methods in Estimating Treatment Effects

Different covariate balance weighting methods have been proposed by researchers from different perspectives to estimate the treatment *** paper gives a brief review of the covariate balancing propensity score method by Imai and Ratkovic(2014),the stable balance weighting procedure by Zubizarreta(2015),the calibration balance weighting approach by Chan,et al.(2016),and the integrated propensity score technique by Sant’Anna,et al.(2020).Simulations are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of both the average treatment effect and quantile treatment effect estimators based on different weighting *** results show that in general,the covariate balance weighting methods can outperform the conventional maximum likelihood estimation method while the performance of the four covariate balance weighting methods varies with the data generating ***,the four covariate balance weighting methods are applied to estimate the treatment effects of the college graduate on personal annual income.
