Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, affecting 1% of the population over 55 years of age and up to 4% of the population over 80 years of age (Blesa et al., 2012). This progressive and neurodegenerative condition results from an excessive loss of dopaminergic neurons (50-70%) of the substantia nigra pars compacta, leading to a significant decrease in dopamine (DA) levels in the striatum and consequently a functional deterioration of motor circuity (Blesa et al., 2012;Nielsen et al., 2016).

Purpose:This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of load-velocity(L-V)relationship variables obtained through the 2-point method using different load combinations and velocity ***:Twenty men performed 2 identical sessions consisting of 2 countermovement jumps against 4 external loads(20 kg,40 kg,60 kg,and80 kg)and a heavy squat against a load linked to a mean velocity(MV)of 0.55 m/s(load_(0.55)).The L-V relationship variables(load-axis intercept(L_(0)),velocity-axis intercept(v_(0)),and area under the L-V relationship line(A_(line)))were obtained using 3 velocity variables(MV,mean propulsive velocity(MPV),and peak velocity)by the multiple-point method including(20-40-60-80-load_(0.55))and excluding(20-40-60-80)the heavy squat,as well as from their respective 2-point methods(20-load_(0.55)and 20-80).Results:The L-V relationship variables were obtained with an acceptable reliability(coefncient of variation(CV)≤7.30%;intra-class correlation coefficient>0.63).The reliability of L_(0)and v_(0)was comparable for both methods(CV_(ratio)(calculated as higher value/lower value):1.11-1.12),but the multiple-point method provided Al_(ine)with a greater reliability(CV_(ratio)=1.26).The use of a heavy squat provided the L-V relationship variables with a comparable or higher reliability than the use of a heavy countermovement jump load(CV_(ratio):1.06-1.19).The peak velocity provided the load-velocity relationship variables with the greatest reliability(CV_(ratio):1.15-1.86)followed by the MV(CV_(ratio):1.07-1.18),and finally the *** 2-point methods only revealed an acceptable validity for the MV and MPV(effect size≤0.19;Pearson s product-moment correlation coefficient≥0.96;Lin's concordance correlation coefficient≥0.94).Conclusion:The 2-point method obtained from a heavy squat load and MV or MPV is a quick,safe,and reliable procedure to evaluate the lower-body maximal neuromuscular capacities through the L-V relationship.

Estrogen receptor modulators are compounds of interest because of their estrogenic agonistic/antagonistic effects and tissue specificity. These compounds have many clinical applications, particularly for breast cancer treatment and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, as well as for the treatment of climacteric symptoms. Similar to estrogens, neuroprotective effects of estrogen receptor modulators have been described in different models. However, the mechanisms of action of these compounds in the central nervous system have not been fully described. We conducted a systematic search to investigate the effects of estrogen receptor modulators in the central nervous system, focusing on the modulation of cytoskeletal proteins. We found that raloxifene, tamoxifen, and tibolone modulate some cytoskeletal proteins such as tau, microtuble-associated protein 1（MAP1）, MAP2, neurofilament 38（NF38） by different mechanisms of action and at different levels： neuronal microfilaments, intermediate filaments, and microtubule-associated proteins. Finally, we emphasize the importance of the study of these compounds in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases since they present the benefits of estrogens without their side effects.

Fe-doped TiO2 was prepared by the sol gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction. All the Fe-doped TiO2 were composed of an anatase crystal form. The activity of the Fe-doped TiO2 for the degradation of the gesaprim commercial herbicide (which contains atrazine as active compound and formulating agents) was studied by varying the iron content during UV (15 W), visible light and solar irradiations. The visible light came from commercial saving energy lamps (13, 15 and 20 Watts). The gesaprim degradation rate depended on the iron content in the photo catalyst. The Fe-doped TiO2 (0.5% by weight of TiO2) showed higher TOC removal under visible light and was more active than the undoped TiO2 photo catalyst under the light irradiation sources tested. Over 90% of chemical oxygen demand abatement was achieved with both UV and visible light but less time was required to decrease the chemical oxygen demand content by using the catalyst doped with iron at 0.5% under visible light. It was observed that the degradation of gesaprim increased by increasing the iron content in the catalyst under visible light.

Various studies have demonstrated that the foundation species genetic diversity can have direct effects that extend beyond the individual or population level, affecting the dependent communities. Additionally, these effects may be indirectly extended to higher trophic levels throughout the entire community. Quercus castanea is an oak species with characteristics of foundation species beyond pre- senting a wide geographical distribution and being a dominant element of Mexican temperate forests. In this study, we analyzed the influence of population （He） and individual （HL） genetic diversity of Q. castanea on its canopy endophagous insect community and associated parasitoids. Specifically, we studied the composition, richness （S） and density of leaf-mining moths （Lepidoptera： Tischeridae, Citheraniidae）, gall-forming wasps （Hymenoptera： Cynipidae）, and canopy parasitoids of Q. castanea. We sampled 120 trees belonging to six populations （20/site） through the previously recognized gradi- ent of genetic diversity. In total, 22 endophagous insect species belonging to three orders （Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, and Diptera） and 20 parasitoid species belonging to 13 families were identified. In general, we observed that the individual genetic diversity of the host plant （HL） has a significant positive effect on the S and density of the canopy endophagous insect communities. In contrast, He has a significant negative effect on the S of endophagous insects. Additionally, indirect effects of HL were observed, affecting the S and density of parasitoid insects. Our results suggest that genetic variation in foundation species can be one of the most important factors governing the dynamics of tritrophic interactions that involve oaks, herbivores, and parasitoids.

dear Editor,Drug repurposing is a convenient alternative when the need for new drugs in an unexpected medical scenario is urgent,as is the case of emerging *** recent years,approaches based on network biology have demonstrated to be superior to genecentric ones.1 Here,we use an innovative methodology that combines mechanistic modeling of the signal transduction circuits related to SARS-CoV-2 infection(the COVID-19 disease map)with a machine-learning algorithm that learns potential causal interactions between proteins,already targets of drugs,and specific signaling circuits in the COVID-19 disease map,to suggest potentially repurposable drugs.
