Do Child–Turcotte–Pugh and nutritional assessments predict survival in cirrhosis: A longitudinal study

An AlCoCuCrFeniTi high-entropy alloy(HEA) was prepared by mechanical alloying and sintering to study the effect of Ti addition to the widely studied AlCoCuCrFeni system. The structural and microstructural characteristics were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The formation of four micrometric phases was detected: a Cu-rich phase with a face-centered cubic(fcc) structure, a body-centered cubic(bcc) solid solution with Cu-rich plate-like precipitates(fcc), an ordered bcc phase, and a tetragonal structure. The XRD patterns corroborate the presence of a mixture of bcc-, fcc-, and tetragonal-structured phases. The Vickers hardness of the alloy under study was more than twice that of the AlCoCuCrFeni alloy. nanoindentation tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical response of the individual phases to elucidate the relationship between chemical composition, crystal structure, and mechanical performance of the multiphase microstructure of the AlCoCuCrFeniTi HEA.

Using nitrate precursors, a novel spray-drying assisted citrate gel process for the preparation of neodymium-doped yttrium alumi- num garnet （YAG） phase was developed. Synthesis of single-phase polycrystalline YAG was achieved at temperatures as low as 800 ℃ using the spray-drying methodology whilst conventional approaches currently available require 1000 ℃. Initially, a solution was prepared by mixing aluminum and yttrium nitrates, citric acid, etilenglycol and neodymium oxide. This solution was dried by pulverization （spray dryer） to obtain aggregated precursor powders of the compound. These aggregates were calcined at 800, 850 and 900 ℃ to determine the phase evolution from amorphous to crystalline by X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The morphology of aggregates was characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. Moreover, through XRD it was determined that the crystallization of YAG phase started at about 800 ℃ without any intermediate phases. The powders were composed of spherical aggregates with an average diameter of 1 um. From these powders, ceramic fibers with additions of 2at.% and 5at.% nd, were extracted from the melt with diameters ranging from 30 um to 50 um.

Fe_(81)Al_(19) polycrystalline alloys doped with Tb(0-0.25 at%) were obtained by arc *** introduction of Tb favors the formation of columnar grains in the micro structure of the alloys,which develops a texture in the [100]crystal *** examination shows that the alloys are composed in great proportion by the disordered body-centered cubic(bcc),A2 phase and by a small proportion of the ordered bcc,B2 *** a consequence of doping with Tb,the lattice parameter increases,so the calculated apparent crystallite size increases,indicating a decrease in dislocation density and therefore in *** change in the magnetostriction with the magnetic field,dλ_(T)/dH,is directly related to strain anisotropy that can favor the iron easy magnetization axis on the [100] *** increase in total magnetostriction is found in the doped alloys with a maximum of 90 × 10^(-6) at 300 K for the alloy containing 0.027 at% *** enhancement is a threefold value of the undoped alloy,which is attributed to the smaller maximum strain value and the preferential orientation formation by the columnar grains.

The extensive use of polymeric materials in single-use packaging has driven the need to develop biodegradable *** study investigates the incorporation of graphene oxide(GO)and Moringa oleifera seed oil(MOSO)into a gelatin matrix to create polymer films and evaluate their potential as active packaging *** properties of these films were evaluated using structural,thermal,mechanical,optical,and physicochemical methods to determine their suitability for food packaging *** results showed that GO and MOSO were homogeneously dispersed in the gelatin matrix,forming colloidal particles(around 5μm in diameter).The addition of GO increased opacity by approximately 20 times the base value while MOSO affected light transmittance without impacting *** properties were affected differently,GO acted as a crosslinking agent reducing elongation and increasing tensile strength at break,on the other hand MOSO acted as a plasticizer,making films more plastic increasing elongation a 30%.These effects counteracted each other,and similar behavior was recorded in differential scanning *** films exhibited an improved water vapor resistance,which is crucial for food *** findings indicate that the incorporation of GO and MOSO into a gelatin matrix may produce biodegradable polymer films with enhanced properties,suitable for active packaging in the food industry.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs) have revolutionized photovoltaic research. As a result, a certified power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 25.5% was recorded in late 2020. Although this efficiency is comparable with silicon solar cells;some issues remain partially unsolved, such as lead toxicity, instability of perovskite materials under continuous illumination, moisture and oxygen, and degradation of the metallic counter electrodes. As an alternative to tackle this last concern, carbon materials have been recently used, due to their good electrical and thermal conductivity, and chemical stability, which makes them one of the most promising materials to replace metallic counter electrodes in the fabrication of PSCs. This review highlights the recent advances of carbon-based PSCs, where the carbon electrode(CE) is the main *** have become very promising candidates for PSCs;they are mainly fabricated using a simple combination of graphite and carbon black powders embedded in a binder matrix, giving a paste that is then solution-processable, resulting in devices with improved quality stability, when compared to metallic electrodes. In this review, CE’s composition is emphasized, since it can give both, high and lowtemperature processed electrodes, compatible with different device configurations. Finally, the tendencies and opportunities to use CE in PSCs devices are presented.
