Background: Pediatric pheochromocytoma is very rare, accounting for only about 1% of pediatric hypertension. Case Presentation: We presented a case of pediatric pheochromocytoma in a 12-year-old girl undergoing laparoscopic adrenalectomy, with the aim of highlighting an anesthetic challenge. Conclusion: Preoperative screening of hereditary conditions, investigations for end-organ dysfunction, preoperative blood pressure optimization, intensive intraoperative hemodynamic management and good communication with surgeons were the cornerstones for this successful surgery.

报告1例从中国南方旅游归来后发生急性脑膜炎患者的临床经过。脑脊液细胞学检查发现嗜酸性粒细胞计数显著升高,符合嗜酸性粒细胞性脑膜炎,予以经验性糖皮质激素和抗寄生虫治疗后病情缓解;最终经血清学检查明确诊断为广州管圆线虫感染。对于从流行地区归来的旅游者所患的嗜酸性粒细胞性脑膜炎,应特别注意广州管圆线虫病的可能。

Hepatobiliary manifestations are common in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),with 30%of patients presenting abnormal liver tests and 5%developing chronic liver *** range from asymptomatic elevated liver tests to lifethreatening disease and usually follow an independent course from *** pathogenesis of liver manifestations or complications and IBD can be closely related by sharing a common auto-immune background(in primary sclerosing cholangitis,IgG4-related cholangitis,and autoimmune hepatitis),intestinal inflammation(in portal vein thrombosis and granulomatous hepatitis),metabolic impairment(in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or cholelithiasis),or drug toxicity(in drug induced liver injury or hepatitis B virus infection reactivation).Their evaluation should prompt a full diagnostic workup to identify and readily treat all complications,improving management and outcome.

BACKGROUND There have been increased reports of dry eyes in the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic *** To analyze the differences in tear film properties from pre-and post-pandemic of the COVID-19 *** It was a retrospective comparative *** were divided into three groups according to the data of multimodal ocular surface evaluation:(1) Group 1 if it was before Portugal lockdown decision(from August 2019 to March 2020);(2) Group 2 if it was after Portugal lockdown decision but without mask mandate(from April 2020 to October 2020);and(3) Group 3 if it was after Portugal lockdown but with mask mandate in health public highway(from November 2020 to April 2021).The following variables were analyzed:Lipid layer thickness,blink rate,Schirmer test,tear meniscus height,tear osmolarity,non-invasive break-up time,and loss area of the meibomian *** The study included 548 eyes of 274 patients,aged 18 years to 89 years,with a mean age of 66.15 ± 13.40 years at the time of multimodal ocular surface *** to group 1:(1) Mean lipid layer thickness was better in group 2(P = 0.001) and group 3(P demonstrated that differences existed in tear film properties comparing data from the pre-and post-pandemic of the COVID-19 era.

To the Editor： A 70-year-old Chinese gentleman with end-stage renal disease on intermittent peritoneal dialysis （IPD） was admitted to nephrology ward for regular IPD therapy in August 2016. After admission, he presented sudden lower back pain with significant anemia. Computed tomography （CT） scan showed large amount of pericardial effusion, bilateral pleural effusion, and ascites in abdomen and pelvis. Later on, he was intubated with mechanical ventilation support and on continuous venovenous hemofiltration. Pericardiocentesis and thoracocentesis were performed. On the 9＂ day of admission.

SUMMARY Various case reports of patients with Dandy-Walker variant syndrome mimicking schizophrenia have been published in the last 20 years, suggest!ng that this neurodevelopment disorder should be part of the differential diagnosis for every patient with a first episode of psychosis. In this report, it is presented that a patient who was diagnosed and treated as a paranoid schizophrenic for 20 years and had four bone fractures secondary to ataxic gait impairment, before performing a neuroimaging examination that revealed Dandy-Walker variant syndrome.
