The Leading Mode of Indian Ocean SST and Its Impacts on Asian Summer Monsoon

The Indian Ocean （IO） sea surface temperature （SST） was analyzed by using empirical orthogonal function （EOF）, and the leading mode of Indian Ocean （LMIO） SST was extracted. The major spatial and temporal characters of LMIO were discussed, and the relationships between LMIO with Indian summer monsoon （ISM） and with China summer rainfalls （CSR） were investigated, then the impacts of LMIO on Asian summer monsoon （ASM） circulation were explored. Some notable results are obtained： The significant evolutional characters of LMIO are the consistent warming trend of almost the whole IO basin, the distinctive quasi-3- and quasi-ll-yr oscillations and remarkably interdecadal warming in 1976/1977 and 1997/1998, respectively. The LMIO impaired the lower level circulation of ISM and was closely related with the climate trend of CSR. It was associated with the weakening of South Asian high, the easterly winds south of the Tibetan Plateau, and the cross-equatorial flows over 10°-20°N, 40°-110°E at the upper level; with the strengthening of Somali cross-equatorial jet but the weakening of the circulation of ISM in the sector of India, the strengthening of south wind over the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River and South China but the weakening of southwesterly winds over North China at lower level and with the increasing of surface pressure over the Asian Continent. Changes in the moisture flux transports integrated vertically over the whole troposphere associated with LMIO are similar to those in the lower level circulation. To sum up, the significant SST increasing trend of IO basin was one of the important causes for weakening of the ASM circulation and the southwards shifting of China summer rainband.

Based on the daily rainfall datasets from 740 stations in China from 1954 to 2005 and the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, the relationship between the north-south anti-phase distribution(APD) of rainfall during Meiyu periods and the Quasi-Biweekly Oscillation(QBWO) in the atmosphere was analyzed. Diagnostic results are as follows:(1) there was significant north-south oscillation of Meiyu rainfall during the 16 years from 1954 to 2005. Since the 1990 s, the APD enhanced significantly and showed 2- and 4-6-year period. In the region with more rainfall, the QBWO was always more active.(2) The APD of Meiyu and north-south movements of precipitation in eastern China belong to the same phase.(3) The 10-25 day filtered water vapor flux could spread to the area north of 30°N in 1991. The divergence of the water vapor flux which propagated from middle- and higher- latitudes to the of Yangtze-Huaihe River Basins(YHRB) was significant in 1991, but the latitudes that the water vapor flux could reach were further southward and there was no southward propagation of divergence in 1993.(4) The locations of Western Pacific Subtropical High(WPSH) and 10-25 day anti-cyclone, which modulated WPSH's advancement in and out of the South China Sea, were relatively northward in 1991. Furthermore, the vertical circulation showed north-south deviation between 1991 and 1993, just as other elements of the circulation did.

The Software Defined Networking(SDN) paradigm separates the control plane from the packet forwarding plane, and provides applications with a centralized view of the distributed network state. Thanks to the flexibility and efficiency of the traffic flow management, SDN based traffic engineering increases network utilization and improves Quality of Service(QoS). In this paper, an SDN based traffic scheduling algorithm called CATS is proposed to detect and control congestions in real time. In particular, a new concept of aggregated elephant flow is presented. And then a traffic scheduling optimization model is formulated with the goal of minimizing the variance of link utilization and improving QoS. We develop a chaos genetic algorithm to solve this NP-hard problem. At the end of this paper, we use Mininet, Floodlight and video traces to simulate the SDN enabled video networking. We simulate both the case of live video streaming in the wide area backbone network and the case of video file transferring among data centers. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm CATS effectively eliminates network congestions in subsecond. In consequence, CATS improves the QoS with lower packet loss rate and balanced link utilization.

Word sense disambiguation(WSD)is a fundamental but significant task in natural language processing,which directly affects the performance of upper ***,WSD is very challenging due to the problem of knowledge bottleneck,i.e.,it is hard to acquire abundant disambiguation knowledge,especially in *** solve this problem,this paper proposes a graph-based Chinese WSD method with multi-knowledge ***,a graph model combining various Chinese and English knowledge resources by word sense mapping is ***,the content words in a Chinese ambiguous sentence are extracted and mapped to English words with ***,English word similarity is computed based on English word embeddings and knowledge *** word similarity is evaluated with Chinese word embedding and HowNet,*** weights of the three kinds of word similarity are optimized with simulated annealing algorithm so as to obtain their overall similarities,which are utilized to construct a disambiguation *** graph scoring algorithm evaluates the importance of each word sense node and judge the right senses of the ambiguous *** experimental results on SemEval dataset show that our proposed WSD method significantly outperforms the baselines.

Size Distributions and Elemental Compositions of Particulate Matter on Clear,Hazy and Foggy days in Beijing,China

Total suspended particulates （TSP） samples were collected using low pressure impactors （Andersen Series 20-800, USA） on typical clear, hazy and foggy days in Beijing in order to investigate the characteristics of size distributions and elemental compositions of particulate matter （PM） in different weather conditions. The concentrations of sixteen elements, including Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, Ba, T1 and Pb were detected using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry （ICP-MS）. The results showed that Ca, A1, Fe, Mg and Ba on foggy days were 2.0 2.6 times higher than on clear days, and 2.3-2.9 times higher than on hazy days. Concentrations of Cu, Zn, As, Se and Pb on foggy days were 163.5, 1186.7, 65.9, 32.0 and 708.2 ng m-3, respectively, in fine particles, and 68.1, 289.5, 19.8, 1.6 and 103.8 ng m-3, respectively, in coarse particles. This was 1.0~8.4 times higher and 1.4-7.4 times higher than on clear and hazy days, respectively. It is then shown that Mg, A1, Fe, Ca and Ba were mainly associated with coarse particles, peaking at 4.7~5.8 μm; that Cd, Se, Zn, As, T1 and Pb were most dominant in fine particles, peaking at 0.43-1.1 μm; and that Na, K, Ni, Cu and Mn had a multi-mode distribution, with peaks at 0.43-1.1 μm and 4.7-5.8 μm. The enrichment factors indicated that coal combustion along with vehicle and industry emissions may be the main sources of pollution elements.

Watermarking is a widely used solution to the problems of authentication and copyright protection of digital media especially for images,videos,and audio *** is one of the emerging techniques adopted in image watermarking schemes due to its intrinsic cryptographic *** paper proposes a new chaotic hybrid watermarking method combining Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT),Z-transform(ZT)and Bidiagonal Singular Value Decomposition(BSVD).The original image is decomposed into 3-level DWT,and then,ZT is applied on the HH3 and HL3 *** watermark image is encrypted using Arnold Cat *** for the watermark and transformed original image were computed,and the watermark was embedded by modifying singular values of the host image with the singular values of the watermark *** of the proposed scheme was examined using standard test images and assessed against common signal processing and geometric *** indicated that the proposed method is transparent and highly robust.
