OBJECTIVE To investigate three features of dietary cooking oil intake,namely,the consumption,cooking style,and composition of fatty acids in relation to several cardiometabolic measurements in an elderly Chinese *** The elderly(≥65 years)participants for this study were recruited from two community health centers in the urban area of shanghai.A questionnaire was administered to collect information on dietary oil consumption(low,medium and high)and cooking styles(fry or stir-fry ***)and the composition of fatty acids(poly-unsaturated ***-unsaturated).The cardiometabolic measurements included anthropometry,blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose and serum *** The 1186 study participants had a mean age of 70.9±5.4 *** mean dietary oil consumption was 35.0 g/d,being low(<25 g/d),medium(25-49 g/d)and high(≥50 g/d)in 485,467 and 234 participants,*** proportion of the fry or stir-fry cooking style and oils rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids was 30.4%and 27.4%,*** before and after adjustment for sex,age,current smoking and alcohol intake,dietary oil consumption was significantly(P≤0.02)and positively associated with the prevalence of treated hypertension and fasting plasma glucose *** similar adjustments as above and additional adjustment for dietary oil consumption,the fry or stir-fry cooking style was significantly(P≤0.048)and positively associated with body mass index,but inversely with systolic and diastolic blood pressure and serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and the dietary intake of oils rich in mono-unsaturated fat acids was significantly(P≤0.02)and positively associated with diastolic blood pressure,serum triglycerides,total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia and *** This study showed that both the consumption and composition of fatty acids of the dietary oils mattered with regard to sev

Xanthomonas oryzae ***(Xoo)secretes transcription activator-like effectors(TALEs)to activate rice susceptibility(S)genes,causing bacterial blight(BB),as well as resistance(R)genes,leading to de-fense against *** activation follows a gene-for-gene paradigm that results in an arms race between the TALE of the pathogen and effector-binding elements(EBEs)in the promoters of host *** this study,we characterized a novel TALE,designated Tal6b/AvrXa27A,that activates the rice S gene OsSWEET11a and the rice R gene ***6b/AvrXa27A is a member of the AvrXa27/TalAO class and contains 16 repeat variable diresidues(RVDs);one RVD is altered and one is deleted in Tal6b/AvrXa27A compared with AvrXa27,a known avirulence(avr)effector of ***6b/AvrXa27A can transcriptionally activate the expression of Xa27 and OsSWEET11a via EBEs in their corresponding promoters,leading to effector-triggered immunity and susceptibility,*** 16 RVDs in Tal6b/AvrXa27A have no obvious similarity to the 24 RVDs in the effector PthXo1,but EBETal6b and EBEPthXo1 are overlapped in the OsSWEET11a ***6b/AvrXa27A is prevalent among Asian Xoo isolates,but PthXo1 has only been reported in the Philippine strain *** editing of EBETal6b in the OsSWEET11a pro-moter further confirmed the requirement for OsSWEET11a expression in Tal6b/AvrXa27A-dependent susceptibility to ***,Tal6b/AvrXa27A resulted in higher transcription of Xa27 than of OsSWEET11a,which led to a strong,rapid resistance response that blocked disease *** suggest that Tal6b/AvrXa27A has a dual function:triggering resistance by activating Xa27 gene expression as an avirulence factor and inducing transcription of the S gene OsSWEET11a,resulting in ***,Tal6b/AvrXa27A,but not AvrXa27,can bind to the promoter of *** underlying recognition mechanism for this binding remains unclear but appears to deviate from the currently accepted TALE code.

Water management is an important practice that affects fruit size and *** implementation of irrigation scheduling requires knowledge of the appropriate indicators and thresholds,which are established manly based on the effects of water deficits on final fruit *** studies have focused on the real-time effects of water status on fruit and shoot *** establish soil water potential (ψ_(soil)) thresholds to trigger irrigation of peach at pivotal fruit developmental stages,photogrammetry,^(13)C labelling,and other techniques were used in this study to investigate real-time changes in stem diameter,fruit projected area,net leaf photosynthetic rate (P_(n)),and allocation of photoassimilates to fruit under soil water potential conditions ranging from saturation to stress in 6-year-old Shimizu hakuto’*** growth,fruit growth,and P_n exhibited gradually decreasing sensitivity to water deficits during fruit developmental stages I,II,and *** diameter growth was significantly inhibited whenψ_(soil)dropped to-8.5,-7.6,and-5.4 k Pa,*** growth rate was low,reaching zero when theψ_(soil)was-9.0 to-23.1,-14.9 to-21.4,and-16.5 to-23.3 k Pa,respectively,and P_ndecreased significantly when theψ_(soil)reached-24.2,-22.7,and-20.4 kPa,*** addition,more photoassimilates were allocated to fruit under moderateψ_(soil)conditions (-10.1 to-17.0 k Pa) than under otherψ_(soil)*** results revealed threeψ_(soil)thresholds,-10.0,-15.0,and-15.0 kPa,suitable for triggering irrigation during stages I,II,and III,*** thresholds can be helpful for controlling excessive tree vigor,maintaining rapid fruit growth and leaf photosynthesis,and promoting the allocation of more photoassimilates to fruit.

Electrochemically converting CO_(2)into value-added chemicals is a promising approach to mitigate anthropogenic carbon emissions,yet largely limited to short-chained C_(1)–C_(3)***,we demonstrate a tandem artificial synthesis of biodegradable polyhydroxybutyrate(PHB)plastic from CO_(2)building *** synthesis of defects-enriched Bi catalyst is firstly demonstrated by plasma bombardment and following in situ electrochemical reduction,which delivers a HCOOH Faradaic efficiency above 80%at tunable concentration from 2 to 250 mM,an energy efficiency up to 41%,and a single-pass carbon conversion efficiency up to 60%.Annular dark field and second electron microscopic analysis,density functional theory(DFT)calcualtions,coupled with H-type and solid-state electrolyzer assessments,point out the vital role of defective and/or stepped Bi surface sites in promoting CO_(2)-to-HCOOH ***,as-synthesized high-purity HCOOH is used as the sole carbon source for C-chain growth within microbial fermentation reactor with Ralstonia eutropha,where activated formate dehydrogenase and increased metabolites related to Calvin–Benson–Bassham cycle are found to be responsible for the enhanced polyester accumulation.

Porous titanium alloy is currently widely used in clinical treatment of orthopaedic diseases for its lower elastic modulus and ability to integrate with bone *** the micro-level,cells can respond to different geometries,and at the macro-level,the geometric design of implants will also affect the biological function of *** this study,three kinds of porous scaffolds with square,triangular and circle rod shapes were designed and 3D *** study observed the proliferation and differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells during surface culture of the three types of *** also evaluated the characteristics of the three scaffolds by means of compression tests and scanning electron microscopy to provide a reference for the design of porous titanium alloy implants for clinical *** trends of cell proliferation and gene expression between the three types of scaffolds were observed after treatment with two *** results show that the square rod porous scaffolds have the best proliferative and osteogenic activities,and these findings may be due to differences in piezo-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1(Piezo1)and Yes-associated protein(YAP)expression caused by the macro-geometric topography.

Bismuth vanadate(BiVO_(4))is a promising photoanode material for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting,whereas its performance is inhibited by detrimental surface *** solve the problem,herein,a low-cost organic molecule 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid(BTC)is selected for surface passivation of BiVO_(4) photoanodes(BVOs),which also provides bonding sites for Co^(2+)to anchor,resulting in a Co-BTC-BVO *** to its strong coordination with metal ions,BTC not only passivates surface states of BVO,but also provides bonding between BVO and catalytic active sites(Co^(2+))to form a molecular *** study and interfacial charge kinetic investigation reveal that chemical bonding formed at the interface greatly suppresses charge recombination and accelerates charge *** obtained Co-BTC-BVO photoanode exhibits a photocurrent density of 4.82 mA/cm^(2) at 1.23 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)and a low onset potential of 0.22 VRHE under AM 1.5 G illumination,which ranks among the best photoanodes coupled with Co-based *** work presents a novel selection of passivation layers and emphasizes the significance of interfacial chemical bonding for the construction of efficient photoanodes.
