Evaluation of a Rapid Diagnostic Test, Boson Biotech SARS CoV-2 Ag, for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in Gabon

1) Background: Rapid and acurate diagnostic testing for case identification, quarantine, and contact tracing is essential for managing the COVID 19 pandemic. Rapid antigen detection tests are available, however, it is important to evaluate their performances before use. We tested a rapid antigen detection of SARS-CoV-2, based on the immunochromatography (Boson Biotech SARS-CoV-2 Ag Test (Xiamen Boson Biotech Co., Ltd., China)) and the results were compared with the real time reverse transcriptase-Polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) (Gold standard) results;2) Methods: From November 2021 to december 2021, samples were collected from symptomatic patients and asymptomatic individuals referred for testing in a hospital during the second pandemic wave in Gabon. All these participants attending “CTA Angondjé”, a field hospital set up as part of the management of COVID-19 in Gabon. Two nasopharyngeal swabs were collected in all the patients, one for Ag test and the other for RT-PCR;3) Results: A total of 300 samples were collected from 189 symptomatic and 111 asymptomatic individuals. The sensitivity and specificity of the antigen test were 82.5% [95%CI 73.8 - 89.3] and 97.9 % [95%CI 92.2 - 98.2] respectively, and the diagnostic accuracy was 84.4% (95% CI: 79.8 - 88.3%). The antigen test was more likely to be positive for samples with RT-PCR Ct values ≤ 32, with a sensitivity of 89.8%;4) Conclusions: The Boson Biotech SARS-CoV-2 Ag Test has good sensitivity and can detect SARS-CoV-2 infection, especially among symptomatic individuals with low viral load. This test could be incorporated into efficient testing algorithms as an alternative to PCR to decrease diagnostic delays and curb viral transmission.

In december 2019 a novel coronavirus,named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 was identified and the disease associated was named coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Fever,cough,myalgia,fatigue associated to dyspnea represent most common clinical symptoms of the *** reference standard for diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection is real time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction test applied on respiratory tract *** of lower specificity,chest computed tomography(CT),as reported in manifold scientific studies,showed high sensitivity,therefore it may help in the early detection,management and follow-up of COVID-19 *** affected by COVID-19 pneumonia usually showed on chest CT some typical features,such as:Bilateral ground glass opacities characterized by multilobe involvement with posterior and peripheral distribution;parenchymal consolidations with or without air bronchogram;interlobular septal thickening;crazy paving pattern,represented by interlobular and intralobular septal thickening surrounded by ground-glass opacities;subsegmental pulmonary vessels enlargement(>3 mm).Halo sign,reversed halo sign,cavitation and pleural or pericardial effusion represent some of atypical findings of COVID-19 *** the other hand lymphadenopathy’s and bronchiectasis’frequency is unclear,indeed conflicting data emerged in *** play a key role in recognition of high suspicious findings of COVID-19 on chest CT,both typical and atypical ***,the aim of this review is to illustrate typical and atypical CT findings of COVID-19.

High-speed dual-view band-limited illumination profilometry using temporally interlaced acquisition

Wood, as a contact surface, has been used for centuries but is usually questioned because of its porosity and organic composition. It has natural antimicrobial properties and, hygienically, can stand the comparison with other materials such as plastic, glass and steel. In this review, we focused on potential microbe-inhibiting properties of wooden surfaces being used in hygienically important places like health institutes and food industries. This article addresses the questionable properties of untreated wood like hygroscopicity, porosity, roughness and chemical composition, and their relation to the hygienic and antimicrobial nature of this material. The other factors linked to the hygienic properties of wood, such as age, species and type of wood, have also been discussed. Our analysis of literature will create better understanding for acceptance of wood as a safety renewable resource. It also provides an outline for future research considering wood material in critical healthcare or food industries.

Objective To introduce a rapid simple staining method for sperm *** Liquifiedsemen was on the glass, fixed by methanol, treated with phosphonic acid buffer, stained by A, B staining solution separately, and rinsed by running water. Results After staining, the whole sper-matozoid was very clear. The cephalic zone of spermatozoid head , acrosome area , was colored pink; its caudal zone colored violet red or violet blue. The body and tail of spermatozoid colored pink or light blue. Normal and abnormal morphology of spermatozoid could be differentiated easily. The sloughed spermatogenic cells and white blood cells could be differentiated also. Conclusion This rapid staining method of semen smear can produce the same effect of other usual staining method , but the staining time is shorter and the procedure is simpler.

We investigate the DC transport properties of 60V_(2)O_(5)-5P_(2)O_(5)-(35-x)B_(2)O_(3)-xDy_(2)O_(3)(x=0.4,0.6,0.8,1.0 and 1.2 mol%)glasses as function of temperature which were prepared using the conventional melt-quenching *** glasses are characterised by thermo gravimetric-differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA).Activation energy(E_(DC))is obtained from Arrhenius plots of temperature-dependent DC conductivity,and it is found to be 0.30 eV for high conducting *** order to understand the role of Dy_(2)O_(3) in these glasses,the density and molar volume are *** results show that molar volume of the glass increases with the increasing of Dy2O_(3) *** ionic conductivity is found to be dominant over the electronic conductivity and varies between 82%and 96%.

Organic-inorganic hybrid fluorescent sensor thin films of rhodamine B embedded Ag-SBA 15 for selective recognition of Hg(Ⅱ)ions in water

Nowadays, the rapid and effective detection of low doses of heavy metal pollutants in contaminated water is a timely challenge in environmental pollution research. In this study, a rapid and highly sensitive assay for the detection of Hg^2＋based on quenching of metal-enhanced fluorescence of rhodamine B（RB）has been fabricated. RB and silver nanoparticle were incorporated into the mesoporous siliceous framework spin cast on a quartz glass through post-synthetic incorporation method. The morphology and crystallinity of mesoporous structure and Ag nanoparticle were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses. Photoluminescence assays on the hybrid thin film of RB-Ag-SBA15 showed a high enhancement when compared to the intensity of silver free SBA15-RB in the wavelength of 575 nm. The fluorescence of RB-Ag-SBA15 thin film decreased gradually with the increase in the concentration of Hg^2＋and the detection limits were 10.54 nmol/L. Furthermore, the fluorescence intensity increased linearly with the concentration of Hg^2＋in the range from 1.0 ×10^-8mol/L to10× 10^-8mol/L, with a response time of a few seconds. In addition, this system offers a high selectivity over interfering cations such as Cd^2＋ and Pb^2＋. Overall, we have developed an optical assay having a wellordered mesoporous SBA15 containing Ag-RBfor selective detection of Hg^2＋in aqueous solution. The scheme combines the advantages of specific binding interactions between Hg^2＋and RB molecule and optical emission properties of RB. The method is suitable for a single-shot and irreversible analytical assay in a quartz glass/microtiter plate.

Boswellia resin extract and propolis derived polyphenols in patients with type III chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome:An Italian prospective multicenter study

Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of a treatment regimen based on rectal administration of Boswellia resin extract and propolis derived polyphenols in patients with type IIIa and type IIIb chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS).Methods:Patients with type IIIa and type IIIb CP/CPPS received one rectal suppository a day for 15 days per month for 3 consecutive *** were evaluated with National Institutes of Health-Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index(NIH-CPSI),the International Prostate Symptom Scores(IPSS),International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF),four-glass test,uroflowmetry,and prostate-specific antigen assessments at baseline and at Week 4,and Week *** endpoints were improvement in pain domain of NIH-CPSI and improvement of NIH-CPSI total *** outcomes included improvement of micturition and quality of life(QoL)domains of NIH-CPSI ***:A total of 61 males were *** adverse events were *** improvements from baseline to Day 30 were reported for NIH-CPSI total score(mean difference:-9.2;pderived polyphenols is well tolerated and delivers a significant symptomatic improvement in most patients with type IIIa and type IIIb CP/CPPS.
