Background:Adenosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved in energy ***1 has been linked to various agerelated diseases,although its relationship with physical activity(PA)remains ***,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a PA-modulated lipoprotein,could play a role in this relationship because it shares a binding site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP *** examined here the associations between chronic PA and plasma IF1 concentrations among older adults,and we investigated whether apoA-I mediated these ***:In the present work,1096 healthy adults(63.8%females)aged 70 years and over who were involved in the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial study were ***1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/mL)were measured at the 1-year visit of the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while PA levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed using questionnaires administered each year from baseline to the 3-year *** linear regressions were performed to investigate the associations between the first-year mean PA levels and IF1 *** analyses were conducted to examine whether apoA-I mediated these *** linear regressions were carried out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations predicted subsequent changes in ***:Multiple linear regressions indicated that first-year mean PA levels were positively associated with IF1 concentrations(B=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).Mediation analyses revealed that about 37.7%of this relationship was mediated by apoA-I(B_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).Longitudinal investigations demonstrated that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit predicted a faster decline in PA levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:B=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This study demonstrates that regular PA is associated with plasma IF1 concentrations,and it suggests that apoA-I partly med

＜正＞ The potential antianginal activity of F 15845 was evaluated in two models of my-ocardial ischaemia-induced ST segment changes, a supply ischaemia model in anesthetized rabbits subjected to a transient coronary occlusion and a demand ischaemia model in anesthetized dogs with coronary stenosis subjected to left atrial pacing. In the rabbit model. F 15845 produced highly effective, dose-dependent inhibition of ischaemia-induced ST segment elevation following i. v. （ED50 0.05 mg/kg） or oral （ED50 0.13 mg/kg） administration, without hemodynamic effects. The oral anti-ischemic activity remained significant 4 hours after a single administration of F 15845. Furthermore. F 15845 showed additive effects when co-administered with atenolol. ivabradine and nitrate derivatives. In the canine model of demand ischaemia-evoked ST segment changes. F 15845 （0.16-0.63 mg/kg） inhibited ischaemia-induced ST segment elevation from 0.16 mg/kg i. v. in the absence of cardiac hemodynamic and electrocardiographic effects. In conclusion. F 15845. a novel persistent sodium channel blocker. exerts potent antianginal activities without any hemodynamic cardiac effects.

＜正＞ Thrombin constitue the main activator of the protease activated receptor PAR1, however, to date only few informations are available on the pathophysiological relevance of PAR1 in the heart. The main goal of the present study was to investigate the affect of PAR1 activation on the action potential duration of guinea-pig papillary. Firstly, an immunochemistry study using monoclonal mouse antibody to thrombin demonstrate the presence of PAR1 with a great density on the endocardium. Using the patch-clamp technique on freshly isolated cardiomyocytes, we demonstrate activation of PAR1 with thrombin 32UI/ml increase the amplitude of the late sodium current （2.2±0.5pA/pF）. In addition, the action potential duration were significantly increase APD50 in a concentration dependent manner both by thrombin 32UI/ml （max van 14.80% ） and by SFLLR 100μM （max van 13, 09% ）. In each case, these PAR1 activations were fully block by TTX 1μM confirming the involvement of the late sodium current in the action potential prolongation. Similarly, the PAR1 induced an increase of APD50 was concentration de-pendently block by two PAR1 antagonist compounds, SCH 203099 and ER 112787.

Effects of omacor<sup>®</sup>on left ventricular remodelling consecutive to post myocardial infarction special issue-myocardial infarction

Ventricular remodelling is the main trigger of the development of heart failure. Therefore, the reduction of structural remodelling is known to prevent the development of heart failure. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of OMACOR?, a well known mixture of EPA and DHA in an experimental model of heart failure induced by occlusion of left descending coronary artery and the reperfusion within 2 months. After a long term treatment of 2 months;OMACOR? (100 mg/kg) statistically significantly reduced the expansion of infarcted zone (35% ± 4%, P ± 3% in the vehicle group). The phosphorylation of Cx43 as biomarker of the cardiac remodelling was visualised by immunofluorescence in rat’s heart at the end of the study. In the vehicle-infarcted group, a significant de-phosphorylation of Cx43 was observed (8.2 ± 1.0 u.a, n = 8 compared to 11.8 ± 1.3 u.a in the sham group, n = 9) confirming a remodelling process in the infarcted group. In the group treated with OMACOR?,the de-phosphorylation of Cx43 was no longer observed compared to the sham group (16.4 ± 2.9 u.a, n = 9, NS). The present results demonstrate that a long term treatment with OMA-COR? reduced the infarcted size in experimental models of heart failure and that these anti-remodelling effects are due at least in part by resynchronizing the gap junction activity.

Chlorhexidine Digluconate Formulations Used for Skin Antisepsis

Aims: The representativeness of European standards phase 2, step 1 regarding bactericidal and yeasticidal activities was used for the comparison of two marketed antiseptic solutions, one containing chlorhexidine digluconate (0.5%) and the other combining chlorhexidine digluconate (0.25%), benzalkonium chloride (0.025%) and benzylic alcohol (4%). Methods: The bactericidal activity of the antiseptic solutions used pure or diluted was assessed according to the European standards NF EN 13727 and NF EN 13624 for the bactericidal and yeasticidal activity respectively. The contact time was 1 min at 20°C. Interfering substances used correspond to soiling conditions i.e. bovine serum albumin and sheep erythrocytes. A reduction of colony-forming units by ≥5 log10 was deemed to meet the requirements to conclude bactericidal activity and ≥4 log10 for yeasticidal activity. Results: Regarding all the mandatory strains, both solutions are bactericidal and yeasticidal even after a 40% dilution and even under “dirty” conditions. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated the efficient bactericidal and yeasticidal activity of aqueous solutions containing chlorhexidine digluconate either alone at a concentration of 0.5% (w/v) or at a concentration of 0.25% (w/v) when combined with benzalkonium chloride at 0.025% (w/v) and benzylic alcohol 4%. These results have to be considered regarding the respective formulations and potent allergy risks.

After the microbiology based on Pasteur's method and polymerase chain reaction(PCR), the diagnosis company named dendris has proposed a third-generation of diagnosis enabling the search of a broad range of pathogens with strong sensitivity and specificity. This extraordinary profile was possible thanks to the use of phosphorus dendrimers for which various techniques of deposition on a given support were investigated and described and analyzed in this report.
