Nonhost resistance is a phenomenon that enables plants to protect themselves against the majority of potential pathogens, and thus has a great potential for application in plant protection. We recently found that CfHNNI1 （for Cladosporium fulvum host and nonhost plant necrosis inducer 1） is an inducer of plant hypersensitive response （HR） and nonhost resistance. In this study, its functional mechanism was analyzed. CfHNN11 was a single copy gene in C. fulvum genome. The functional ORF of the CfHNN11 cDNA was ATG3-TAG780, which showed homology with genes encoding bZIP transcription factors. The functional ORF included in frame an inner one ATG273-TAG780, which was sufficient to induce HR in plants. CfIINN11 induced plant HR in a dose-dependent manner. CfHNNIl-induced necrosis in NahG transgenic tomato plants was significantly stronger than that in their wild type controls. However, the necrosis in Nr and defl tomato mutants was similar to that in their corresponding wild type plants. These data demonstrate that induction of HR and nonhost resistance by CfHNNI1 is negatively regulated by salicylic acid signalling pathway but independent of ethylene and jasmonic acid signalling pathways.

Mutants on stalk strength are essential materials for the studies on the formation of plant cell *** this study,a brittle stalk mutant of maize,designated as Bk-x,was screened from a Mutator inserted mutant *** the germination and early seedling stage,the mutant plants were indistinguishable from the normal ***,all of the plant organs were brittle after the 5th-leaf stage and remained brittle throughout the rest of the growing *** observation showed that the cell wall in vascular bundle sheath of Bk-x was thinner than that in normal *** leaf mechanical strength in Bk-x was 77.9% of that in normal plants growing at Xishuangbanna（BN）,Yunnan province and that was 61.7% in Wuhan（WH）,Hubei Province,*** proportion of cellulose was 12.3% in Bk-x,which was significantly lower than that in normal plants（26.7%）,while the soluble sugar content was 36.1% in Bk-x,which is significantly higher than that in normal plants（12.4%）.Genetic analysis using two F 2 populations and one F 2：3 families demonstrated that the trait of brittle stalk is controlled by a single recessive gene.

The paper presents an algorithm for constructing geometric buffers for vector feature layers and dissolving those buffers using a sweep-line approach and vector *** algorithm works by first constructing a geometric buffer for a vector feature layer,then dissolving each single geometric buffer for that feature layer,and finally dissolving the overlapping buffers of the entire *** algorithm has been implemented successfully in a commercial Geographical Information System software package.

Pure X-ray diffraction profiles have been analysed for polyamide 1010 and PA1O1O-BMI system by means of multipeak fitting resolution of X-ray diffraction. The methods of variance and fourth moment have been applied to determine the particle size and strain values for the paracrystalline materials. The results indicated that both variance and fourth moment of X-ray diffraction line profile yielded approximately the same values of the particle size and the strain. The particle sizes of (100) reflection have been found to decrease with increasing BMI content, whereas the strain values increased.

Increasing evidence has shown that conservation tillage is an effective agricultural practice to increase carbon （C） sequestration in soils. In order to understand the mechanisms underlying the responses of soil organic carbon （SOC） to tillage regimes, physical fractionation techniques were employed to evaluate the effect of long-term no-tillage （NT） on soil aggregation and SOC fractions. Results showed that NT increased the concentration of total SOC by 18.1% compared with conventional tillage （CT） under a long-term maize （Zea mays L.） cropping system in Northeast China. The proportion of soil large macroaggregates （〉 2 000 μm） was higher in NT than that in CT, while small macroaggregates （250-2 000μm） showed an opposite trend. Therefore, the total proportion of macroaggregates （〉 2 000 and 250-2 000μm） was not affected by tillage management. However, C concentrations of macroaggregates on a whole soil basis were higher under NT relative to CT, indicating that both the amount of aggregation and aggregate turnover affected C stabilization. Carbon concentrations of intra-aggregate particulate organic matter associated with microaggregates （iPOM-m） and microaggregates occluded within macroaggregates （iPOM-mM） in NT were 1.6 and 1.8 times greater than those in CT, respectively. Carbon proportions of iPOM-n and iPOM-mM in the total SOC increased from 5.4% and 6.3% in CT to 7.2% and 9.7% in NT, respectively. Furthermore, the difference in the microaggregate protected C （i. e., iPOM-m and iPOM-mM） between NT and CT could explain 45.4% of the difference in the whole SOC. The above results indicate that NT stimulates C accumulation within microaggregates which then are further acted upon in the soil to form macroaggregates. The shift of SOC within microaggregates is beneficial for long-term C sequestration in soil. We also corroborate that the microaggregate protected C is useful as a pool for assessing the impact of tillage management on SOC storage.

The Raman spectra of DNA in different levels of vitamin C with 10- and 30-min ultraviolet (UV) radiations were reported. The intensity of UV radiation was 18.68 W/m2. The experimental results proved that vitamin C could alone prevent UV radiation from damaging DNA, but the effects depended on the concentration of vitamin C. When the concentration of vitamin C was about 0.08-0.4 mmol/L, vitamin C decreased UV radiation-induced DNA’s damage. When the concentration of vitamin C exceeded 0.4 mmol/L, vitamin C accelerated DNA’s damage instead. Maybe the reason is that when DNA in aqueous solution is radiated by UV, free radicals come into being, and vitamin C can scavenge free radicals, so vitamin C in lower concentration can protect DNA. The quantity of free radicals is finite, when vitamin C is superfluous, free radicals have been scavenged absolutely and vitamin C is residual. Vitamin C is a strong reductant. Leaf area index （LAI） is used for crop growth monitoring in agronomic research, and is promising to diagnose the nitrogen （N） status of crops. This study was conducted to develop appropriate LAI-based N diagnostic models in irrigated lowland rice. Four field experiments were carried out in Jiangsu Province of East China from 2009 to 2014. Different N application rates and plant densities were used to generate contrasting conditions of N availability or population densities in rice. LAI was determined by LI-3000, and estimated indirectly by LAI-2000 during vegetative growth period. Group and individual plant characters （e.g., tiller number （TN） and plant height （H）） were investigated simultaneously. Two N indicators of plant N accumulation （NA） and N nutrition index （NNI） were measured as well. A calibration equation （LAI=1.7787LAI2o00-0.8816, R2=0.870＂） was developed for LAI-2000. The linear regression analysis showed a significant relationship between NA and actual LAI （R2=0.863^＊＊）. For the NNI, the relative LAI （R2=0.808-） was a relatively unbiased variable in the regression than the LAI （R^2=0.33^＊＊）. The results were used to formulate two LAI-based N diagnostic models for irrigated lowland rice （NA=29.778LAI-5.9397; NNI=0.7705RLAI＋0.2764）. Finally, a simple LAI deterministic model was developed to estimate the actual LAI using the characters of TN and H （LAI=-0.3375（THxHx0.01）2＋3.665（TH×H×0.01）-1.8249, R2=0.875＊＊）. With these models, the N status of rice can be diagnosed conveniently in the field.

DNA molecules were stretched on silanized mica surface with the molecular combing technique, and detected with fluorescence microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Meantime, DNA molecules were stretched with a modified dynamic molecular combing technique and studied with atomic force microscopy. The results indicate that, compared with the dynamic molecular combing technique, the modified dynamic molecular combing technique has advantages of less-sample demand and less contamination to sample; as compared with the molecular combing technique, it has better aligning effect and reproducibility. Combination of this kind of DNA molecular manipulating technique with the single DNA molecule detecting technique by atomic force microscopy and fluorescence microscopy will play an important role in the basic research of molecular dynamics and the application of gene research.

The crystal structure of a Ni(II) complex with 1,7-diaminoethyl-4,10-dimethyl,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. Crystal data for NiC14H36Br2N6O: monoclinic, space group P21/n, a=0.8848(3), b=1.4656(3), c=1.5828(3) nm, β=90.47(3)°, V=2.0525 nm3, Z=4. The two pendant primary amino groups are located in cis positions in the complex, their nitrogen atoms and the four nitrogen donors of the fold tetraaza-macrocycle coordinate Ni(II) ion, forming a distorted octahedral geometry.
