corporate environmental investment helps improve corporate environmental performance,which,therefore,is an effective micro-level solution to mitigate environmental concerns generated by corporate excessive resource exploitation and energy *** Chinese listed firms within environment-related industries over the period 2011–2018 as the research setting,this study applies the panel data model to investigate the impact of corporate innovation on environmental investment,as well as the moderating effects of institutional *** results show that corporate innovation significantly improves firms'environmental investment with 1%Research&Development(R&D)investment ratio increase generating 2326 CNY(around 351 USD at 2018 exchange rate)increase in environmental investment;the moderating effect of environment policy is positive and significant while the moderating effect of internationalisation level is not significant,indicating that current environment policy implementation helps to strengthen the positive impact of corporate innovation on environmental investment while the role of internationalisation level in this nexus is not *** a micro-level perspective,the findings of this study shed light on mitigating environmental concerns through enhancing corporate innovation,and provide evidence that China's corporate internationalisation process awaits more regulatory controls.

Climate change is causing sea-level rise,intense and frequent storm surge flooding,and significant shoreline erosion in Malaysian coastal ***,coastal properties,infrastructure,and livelihoods are *** has become apparent that adaptation at the household and community level is necessary to offset the adverse impacts of coastal *** community needs to be made aware of the risks,acquire knowledge about adaptation options,and be empowered to take their own *** perception and preference are therefore crucial for design and implementation of effective planning for climate ***,this study assesses households'perception,adaptation measures and empirically estimates willingness to pay and preference for planned adaptation measures to guide policy instruments through public *** Malaysia,ten highly vulnerable coastal areas in the Selangor coast were surveyed at the household level(n=1016)through face-to-face interviews using a structured *** households’perception and adaptation methods,most of the households in the highly exposed areas perceived less risk of inundation and sea-level rise threat and adopted less proactive adaptation and limited risk reduction behaviours during the extreme *** study found that 66.9%of households were willing to pay for planned adaptation measures despite the limited income capabilities and in favour of moderate adaptation(23.9%).The binomial and ordinal regression results indicated that the probability of willingness to pay for planned adaptation measures significantly increases with age,prior exposure to coastal hazards,awareness,risk perception,community participation,being affected by property damage and loss of income due to extreme *** increased monthly household income and access to telecommunication services,households will probably pay higher for better adaptation measures.A significant amount of perceived yearly adaptation benefits in the coasta

Low-carbon economic development is at the heart of the post-pandemic green recovery scheme *** requires economic recovery without compromising on the environment,implying a critical role that green productivity plays in achieving the carbon neutrality *** productivity measures the quality of economic growth with consideration for energy consumption and environmental *** study employs the slacks-based measure directional distance function(SBM-DDF)approach and the Malmquist-Luenberger(ML)index to calculate green productivity and its components of 30 provinces in China between 2001 and *** a spatial panel data model,we empirically analyzed the conditionalβ-convergence of China's green *** found that overall,since 2001,China's green productivity has demonstrated a continuous upward *** taking into account spatial factors,China's green productivity demonstrates a significant conditionalβ-*** terms of regional effects,the results indicate that the green productivity of the eastern and western regions demonstrates club convergence,implying a more balanced green economic ***,the convergence rate of China's green productivity increases with the addition of environmental regulation variable,and so the corresponding convergence time *** indicates that environmental regulations help to facilitate the convergence of China's green productivity,narrowing the gap between the regional green economic *** findings provide guideline for achieving a low-carbon development and carbon neutrality from a regional green productivity perspective.

Integrating autonomous vehicles (AVs) and autonomous parking spaces (APS) marks a transformative development in urban mobility and sustainability. This paper reflects on these technologies’ historical evolution, current interdependence, and future potential through the lens of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Historically, parking systems evolved from manual designs to automated processes yet remained focused on convenience rather than sustainability. Presently, advancements in smart infrastructure and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication have enabled AVs and APS to operate as a cohesive system, optimizing space, energy, and transportation efficiency. Looking ahead, the seamless integration of AVs and APS into broader smart city ecosystems promises to redefine urban landscapes by repurposing traditional parking infrastructure into multifunctional spaces and supporting renewable energy initiatives. These technologies align with global sustainability goals by mitigating emissions, reducing urban sprawl, and fostering adaptive land uses. This reflection highlights the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to address regulatory and technological challenges, ensuring the equitable and efficient deployment of AVs and APS for smarter, greener cities.

Emission Reduction Investment, Technology Choice and Business environmental Performance: Evidence from China’s Foreign Investment Liberalization Reform

Pollution has become an unavoidable concern as China’s high-quality development is *** to reduce pollution is an imperative issue for China to *** emissions are closely related to factor inputs,production processes and pollution control *** there other forces to cut emissions besides regulatory control?Taking sulfur dioxide as an example,this paper probes into the potential mechanism through which technical efficiency drives pollution reduction in the context of opening to foreign *** results reveal that the openness to foreign investment remarkably lowers pollution emissions of fi rms,with SOEs,large fi rms and exporters seeing more pronounced pollution reduction eff ect after opening to foreign investment,while fi rms in pollution-intensive industries and less regulated areas are weaker in pollution reduction.A look into fi rm behavior suggests that the openness to foreign investment reduces pollutant emissions by improving technical efficiency rather than by raising investment in pollution *** pollution reduction eff ect resulting from the openness is refl ected in the improvement of intra-fi rm emission reduction capacity instead of inter-fi rm resource reallocation eff ect,according to an analysis at the aggregate *** paper concludes that technical efficiency gains are an important tool to advance pollution reduction,and that China must be more flexible in leveraging the pollution reduction effect of other policies regarding technical effi ciency to drive its high-quality development that is green.

GIS-based spatial differentiation of ethnic minority villages in Guizhou Province,China

Does corporate Social Responsibility Really Make a Difference? An Explorative Analysis for Chinese Companies

Many studies have been performed to assess the impacts of corporate social responsibility （CSR） on the financial performance of companies. There are, however, very few studies that analyze how CSR policies and instruments affect the realization of social and environmental CSR goals, such as the reduction of workplace accidents or CO2 emissions. Therefore, it remains uncertain to what extent CSR really contributes to sustainable development and whether it can serve as an alternative to government regulation to internalize external effects from market operation. The present study provides an explorative empirical analysis that aims to fill this gap. We employ regression analysis on a sample of 109 Chinese companies. The estimation results show that having a code of conduct stimtdates the implementation of other organizational CSR instruments, but CSR implementation only partly affects the realization of CSR goals. Having codes of conduct without implementing CSR does not have a significant impact on societal welfare.

Sustainable development goals(SDGs)and fossil energy are the core elements of almost all major challenges and opportunities for achieving social ***,energy sustainability has become one of the pivotal drivers of China’s *** study constructed a comprehensive evaluation index system for the provincial-level sustainable development of fossil energy in China covering three major dimensions(socio-economic,resource,and environmental).Moreover,a set of criteria for measuring the SDGs of fossil energy at the national level in China was *** on the provincial panel data collected from 30 provinces from 2010 through 2019,a spatial econometric model was applied to empirically evaluate the effects of SDGs on fossil energy *** results showed that the SDGs not only promote the reduction of fossil energy consumption with substantial negative spatial spillover effects,but also revealed differences between northern and southern *** promote the early achievement of sustainable fossil energy development in China,the transformation and upgradation of fossil energy systems should be conducted early and inter-regional cooperation should be strengthened according to local conditions to jointly achieve the SDGs.
