Recharge and vulnerability assessment of groundwater resources in North west India:Insights from isotope-geospatial modelling approach

Recent studies indicate dwindling groundwater quantity and quality of the largest regional aquifer system in North West India,raising concern over freshwater availability to about 182 million population residing in this *** agricultural activities have resulted severe groundwater pollution in this area,demanding a systematic vulnerability assessment for proactive *** vulnerability assessment models encounter drawbacks due to subjectivity,complexity,data-prerequisites,and spatial-temporal *** study incorporates isotopic information into a weighted-overlay framework to overcome the above-mentioned limitations and proposes a novel vulnerability assessment *** isotope methodology provides crucial insights on groundwater recharge mechanisms(18O and 2H)and dynamics(3H)-often ignored in vulnerability *** characterisation of precipitation helped in establishing Local Meteoric water Line(LMWL)as well as inferring contrasting recharge mechanisms operating in different *** aquifer(depthwater level *** central and northern parts of study area fall under least(0.29%)and extremely(1.79%)vulnerable zones respectively,while majority of the study area fall under moderate(42.71%)and highly vulnerable zones(55.20%).Model validation was performed using groundwater NO3-concentration,which showed an overall accuracy up to 82%.Monte Carlo Simulation(MCS)was performed for sensitivity analysis and permeability was found to be the most sensitive input parameter,followed by 3H,18O,and water *** the vulnerability map with Land Use Land Cover(LULC)and population density maps

Concept, configuration, and application of on-board nanogrids for use in electric vehicles

Against the backdrop of increasingly serious climate change, researchers are attempting to extend macroscale carbon reduction research to smaller scales. With the rapid development and widespread application of electric vehicles(EVs), an effective approach for carbon reduction based on EVs has the potential to be developed. To coordinate and manage the EV platform in diverse application scenarios, the concept of an on-board nanogrid(OBNG), in which a nanogrid is combined with the EV, is proposed and defined, and the characteristics summarized. A configuration that includes a physical layer with the on-board hardware system;an information layer for logical control, energy management, and communication coordination;and an application layer that can cope with different working environments is proposed. A detailed introduction to the basic architecture and management mode of each layer is provided along with information concerning the relevant technologies for coordinated operation. New ideas and approaches to improve the existing performance are proposed, and finally, combined with a background of smart and low-carbon cities, major application scenarios are envisioned.

1. Introduction According to Report No. 22, titled“Religion and Its Disciples Throughout the World,” published by the United Nations in 1956, the number of Confucian disciples worldwide reached 300,290,500,ranking fourth after Catholicism, Islam,and Hinduism. Lewis Hodous (1967)stated,“Confucianism was established as the state religion by Emperor Wudi(140-87 BCE) and retained this position till 1912.” Scientific literature indicates that the influence of Confucius’ teachings in Indonesia started at the end of the prehistoric period.

BACKground Colorectal surgeons are well aware that performing surgery for rectal cancer becomes more challenging in obese patients with narrow and deep pelvic ***,it is essential for colorectal surgeons to have a comprehensive understanding of pelvic structure prior to surgery and anticipate potential surgical *** To evaluate predictive parameters for technical challenges encountered during laparoscopic radical sphincter-preserving surgery for rectal *** We retrospectively gathered data from 162 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic radical sphincterpreserving surgery for rectal ***-dimensional reconstruction of pelvic bone and soft tissue parameters was conducted using computed tomography(CT)*** difficulty was categorized as either high or low,and multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify predictors of operative difficulty,ultimately creating a *** Out of 162 patients,21(13.0%)were classified in the high surgical difficulty group,while 141(87.0%)were in the low surgical difficulty *** logistic regression analysis showed that the surgical approach using laparoscopic intersphincteric dissection,intraoperative preventive ostomy,and the sacrococcygeal distance were independent risk factors for highly difficult laparoscopic radical sphincter-sparing surgery for rectal cancer(P<0.05).Conversely,the anterior-posterior diameter of pelvic inlet/sacrococcygeal distance was identified as a protective factor(P<0.05).A nomogram was subsequently constructed,demonstrating good predictive accuracy(C-index=0.834).CONCLUSION The surgical approach,intraoperative preventive ostomy,the sacrococcygeal distance,and the anterior-posterior diameter of pelvic inlet/sacrococcygeal distance could help to predict the difficulty of laparoscopic radical sphincter-preserving surgery.

Selection criteria of MPOB-Angola germplasm collection for yield improvement of the oil palm

Oil palm germplasm collected from Angola,Africa in 1991 were subjected to genetic variability potential *** collection was planted in the form of open-pollinated families as trials at the Malaysian Palm Oil board(MPOB)Kluang Research Station,Johor,Malaysia,in *** palms from 52 families and tenera palms from 44 families of MPOB-Angola were evaluated for their bunch yield and bunch quality *** objectives of this study were to determine the genetic variability among the families and performance of MPOB-Angola germplasm for yield *** analysis of variance(ANOVA)revealed highly significant differences between the dura and tenera families for most of the traits,suggesting the presence of high genetic variability,which is essential for breeding *** the duras,family AGO 02.02 displayed the best yield performance,with a high fresh fruit bunch,oil yield and total economic product at 240.40,29.46 and 37.93 kg palm^(-1)year^(-1),*** for the teneras,family AGO 03.04 recorded the highest FFB yield and oil yield at 249.25 and 45.22 kg palm^(-1)year^(-1),*** that,several families with big fruit sizes or producing a mean fruit weight of 14-17 g were also *** dura and tenera from AGO 01.01 recorded the highest oil to bunch(O/B)of 17.76%and 28.65%,*** findings will facilitate the selection of palms from the MPOB-Angola germplasm for future breeding programmes.

The work investigates the major solute chemistry of groundwater and fluoride enrichment(F^(-))in the shallow phreatic aquifer of *** study also interprets the hydrogeochemical processes of solute acquisition and the genetic behavior of groundwater F^(-)contamination.A total of 1105 groundwater samples collected from across the state from different hydro-geomorphic settings have been analyzed for the major solutes and F^(-) *** is alkaline in nature(range of pH:6.6-8.7;ave.:7.9)predominated by moderately hard to very hard *** cation and anion chemistry stand in the orders of Ca^(2+)>Na^(+)>Mg^(2+)>K^(+) and HCO_(3)^(-)>Cl^(-)>SO_(4)^(2-)>CO_(3)^(2-) *** average mineralization is low(319 mg/L).The primary water types are Ca-Mg-HCO_(3) and Ca-Mg-Cl^(-)HCO_(3),followed by Na-Cl,Ca-Mg-Cl,and Na-Ca-Mg-HCO_(3)^(-)***-halite dissolution and reverse ion exchange are the significant processes of solute *** the geogenic as well as the anthropogenic sources contribute to the groundwater fluoride contamination,*** ratio of Na^(+)/Ca^(2+)>1.0 comprises Na-HCO_(3)(Cl)water types with F^(-)>1.0 mg/L(range 1.0-3.5 mg/L)where the F^(-)bears geogenic *** relations exist between F^(-)and pH,Na^(+),TDS,and HCO_(3)^(-).It also reflects a perfect Na-TDS correlation(0.85).The ratio of Na^(+)/Ca^(2+)water types include Ca-Mg-HCO_(3)(Cl)varieties which are recently recharged meteoritic water *** F^(-) levels exhibit poor and negative correlations with the solutes in *** Na-TDS relation remains poor(0.12).In contrast,the TDS levels show strong correlations with Ca^(2+)(0.91),Mg^(2+)(0.80)and even Cl^(-)(0.91).The majority of the monitoring points with the anthropogenic sources of groundwater F^(-) are clustered in the Hirakud Canal Command area in the western parts of the state,indi

Fluorescence imaging is a non-invasive and highly sensitive bioimaging technique that has shown remarkable strides in plant science. It enables real-time monitoring and analysis of biological and pathological processes in plants by labeling specific molecular or cellular structures with fluorescent probes. However, tissue scattering and phytochrome interference have been obstacles for conventional fluorescence imaging of plants in the ultraviolet and visible spectrum, resulting in unsatisfactory imaging quality. Fortunately, advances in near-infrared(NIR) fluorescence imaging technology(650-900 nm) offer superior spatial-temporal resolution and reduced tissue scattering, which is sure to improve plant imaging quality. In this review, we summarize recent progress in the development of NIR fluorescence imaging probes and their applications for in vivo plant imaging and the identification of plant-related biomolecules. We hope this review provides a new perspective for plant science research and highlights NIR fluorescence imaging as a powerful tool for analyzing plant physiology, adaptive mechanisms, and coping with environmental stress in the near future.

Assessment of surface and subsurface waterlogging, water level fluctuations, and lithological variations for evaluating groundwater resources in Ganga Plains

In the present study,the multi-temporal satellite images of IRS P6 LISS III were used to map waterlogging dynamics over different *** area of 594.36 km2(6.75%)and 4.17 km^(2)(0.04%)was affected by surface waterlogging during pre and postmonsoon season,*** average annual groundwater level fluctuations were calculated using 18 years(1990-2007)pre and postmonsoon groundwater level data to identify the areas which are under groundwater induced waterlogging *** soil map clearly indicates that salinity and sodicity exhibit the highest severity and occur in areas with shallow groundwater *** hydrogeomorphical units mapped using IRS P6 LISS III satellite images are flood plain,alluvial plain,paleochannels,and oxbow *** study revealed that 44.65%areas have very good to excellent groundwater *** litholog data clearly indicate an alternating sequence of clay and sand in which deep aquifers made up of coarse sand would be best suited for adequate water supply and good groundwater *** integrated study utilizing digital spatial data pertaining to waterlogging,soil salinity,water level fluctuation,and lithological variation proved that planning of any surface and subsurface water resources development activity should be taken up after assessments of said parameters.
