What is already known about this topic?Previous studies have illustrated the benefits of physical activity on cardiometabolic multimorbidity(CMM),while limited studies have concentrated on the trajectory of CMM progression.What is added by this report?Through multi-stage regression analysis,we found that physical activity could reduce the risk of CMM incidence.Participants initially free of cardiometabolic diseases(CMDs)may benefit more from engaging in recommended physical activity.What are the implications for public health practice?Adults,especially those initially free of CMDs,should engage in WHO-recommended physical activity as early as possible to prevent CMD incidence and further progression.

The effects of tanshinone IIA on the proliferation of the human non-small cell lung cancer cell line A549 and its possible mechanism on the VEGF/VEGFR signal pathway were investigated.The exploration of the interaction between tanshinone IIA and its target proteins provides a feasible platform for studying the anticancer mechanism of active components of herbs.The CCK-8 assay was used to evaluate the proliferative activity of A549 cells treated with tanshinone IIA(2.5 80 μmol/L) for 24,48 and 72 h,respectively.Flow cytometry was used for the detection of cell apoptosis and cell cycle perturbation.VEGF and VEGFR2 expression were studied by Western blotting.The binding mode of tanshinone IIA within thecrystal structure of the VEGFR2 protein was evaluated with molecular docking analysis by use of the CDOCKER algorithm in Discovery Studio 2.1.The CCK-8 results showed that tanshinone IIA can significantly inhibit A549 cell proliferation in a dose-and time-dependent manner.Flow cytometry results showed that the apoptosis rate of tested group was higher than the vehicle control,and tanshinone IIAtreated cells accumulated at the S phase,which was higher than the vehicle control.Furthermore,the expression of VEGF and VEGFR2 was decreased in Western blot.Finally,molecular docking analysis revealed that tanshinone IIA could be stably docked into the kinase domain of VEGFR2 protein with its unique modes to form H-bonds with Cys917 and π–π stacking interactions with Val848.In conclusion,tanshinone IIA may suppress A549 proliferation,induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the S phase.This drug may suppress angiogenesis by targeting the protein kinase domains of VEGF/VEGFR2.

Background:Contributing to the innovative behavior of individuals in the health management process is a desirable condition for increased health institution performance.The relationship between the sense of loneliness and individual innovation behaviors has not been studied and relevant literature is extremely limited.The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of an individual's sense of loneliness on their innovative behavior.Methods:The research was performed between January and October 2018.The effects of loneliness feelings on the individual innovative behaviors of 451 health science faculty students were measured.The data were collected using the "Individual Information Form," the "individual innovation scale," and the "University of California Los Angeles loneliness scale." The reliability and validity of the scales were tested with Structural Equation Modeling.Results:It was found that the female participants showed exhibited more innovative behavior than the men.However, there was no significant difference in the loneliness status of participants by gender.A group of 23-year-old individuals showed a significant difference in the risk taking dimension compared to other age groups.First-grade students had more points in the experimental openness and opinion leadership sub-dimension than the other classes.It was observed that the behavior is molded as the education level increases.The regression models showed that loneliness has a negative effect of -0.254 on experiential openness and the leadership of ideas, and has a negative effect of -0.216 on risk taking.There was no effect of the sub-dimensions of loneliness on change resistance.Moreover, on the individualistic behavior of physical loneliness, a -0.267 negative effect was observed.Emotional loneliness has no effect on the sub-dimensions of individual innovation.Finally, the total sense of loneliness was found to have a negative effect on total individual innovation.Conclusions:The study results clearly show that physical loneliness has a ne

AIM: To determine whether red blood cell(RBC)membrane and plasma lipids, particularly long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA), docosahexaenoic acid(DHA), arachidonic acid(AA) are significantly correlated with severity of normal tension glaucoma(NTG).METHODS: This study included 35 patients with NTG and 12 healthy normal control subjects, matched for age and sex with the study group. The stage of glaucoma was determined according to the Hodapp-Parrish-Anderson classification. Lipids were extracted from RBC membranes and plasma, and fatty acid methyl esters prepared and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).RESULTS: When RBC lipids were analyzed, the levels of EPA, the levels of DHA and the ratio of n3 to n6 were positively associated with the Humphrey Perimetry mean Deviation(MD) score(r =0.617, P <0.001; r =0.727, P <0.001 and r =0.720, P <0.001, respectively), while the level of AA was negatively associated with the MD score(r =-0.427, P =0.001). When plasma lipids were analyzed,there was a significant positive relationship between the levels of EPA and the MD score(r =0.648, P <0.001), and the levels of AA were inversely correlated with the MD score(r =-0.638, P <0.001). CONCLUSION: The levels of n3 and n6 polyunsaturated fatty acids in RBC membrane and plasma lipids were associated with severity of NTG.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening is effective in reducing CRC incidence and mortality. The aim of this study was to retrospectively determine and compare the detection rate of adenomas, advanced adenomas (AAs) and CRCs, and the number needed to screen (NNS) of individuals in an average-risk Chinese population of different ages and genders. Methods: This was a retrospective study performed at the Institute of health management, Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital. Colonoscopy results were analyzed for 53,152 individuals finally enrolled from January 2013 to December 2019. The detection rate of adenomas, AAs, or CRCs was computed and the characteristics between men and women were compared using chi-squared test. Results: The average age was 48.8 years (standard deviation [SD], 8.5 years) for men and 50.0 years (SD, 9.0 years) for women, and the gender rate was 66.27% (35,226) vs . 33.73% (17,926). The detection rates of adenomas, AAs, serrated adenomas, and CRCs were 14.58% (7750), 3.09% (1641), 1.23% (653), and 0.59% (313), respectively. Men were statistically significantly associated with higher detection rates than women in adenomas (17.20% [6058/35,226], 95% confidence interval [CI] 16.74-17.53% vs . 9.44% [1692/17,926], 95% CI 8.94-9.79%, P physical examination and are associated with gender and age. This experiment was designed to accommodate the diversified verbal,mathematical,and spatial skills of young adults,which have not yet to be collectively evaluated in research projects focused on acute exercise and creativity among college students.While emerging research suggests that acute moderate-intensity exercise may influence human creativity,creativity during and after exercise has not been experimentally investigated.Such differences are plausible,as previous work demonstrates that memory can be differentially influenced based on whether the memory task occurs during or after exercise.Therefore,the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of acute moderate‐intensity treadmill walking,for 15 min,on verbal,mathematical,and spatial insight creativity performance while considering the timing of the exercise and creativity tasks.Among a sample of 20 undergraduate students,all completed three randomized laboratory visits in this within-subjects design:control condition,insight problem-solving following exercise,and insight problem-solving during exercise.They also completed six insight creativity tasks(two verbal,two mathematical,and two spatial tasks)per visit,with the order of task-presentation randomized and counterbalanced across the three visits.Average insight creativity scores were similar across the three exercise manipulations:That is,verbal insight[F(2,18)=0.689,P=0.51],mathematical insight[F(2,18)=0.033,P=0.97],and spatial insight[F(2,18)=1.0,P=0.38]performance were not statistically significant across the three visits.Thus,moderate-intensity acute exercise may not appreciably influence verbal,mathematical or spatial insight creativity.

Effect of tetrahedral DNA nanostructures on LPS-induced neuroinflammation in mice

Neuroinflammation plays a significant role in inducing depression-like behavior. Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures(TDNs) are molecules that exhibit anti-inflammatory properties and can effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Thus, researchers have hypothesized that TDNs regulate the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines and consequently alleviate depression-like behavior. To test this hypothesis, we investigated the effect of TDNs on the depression-like behavior of C57 mice induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). We performed open-field, tail suspension, and sucrose preference tests on LPS-and LPS/TDNtreated mice. The results indicated that the injection of TDNs into LPS-treated mice resulted in increased velocity, center zone duration, frequency to the center zone, and sucrose preference, and decreased immobility time. Immunofluorescence results indicated that peripheral administration of LPS in the mice activated inflammation, which culminated in distinct depression-like behavior. However, TDNs effectively alleviated the inflammation and depression-like behavior through the reduction of the expression levels of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α in the brain. Additionally, TDNs normalized the expression level of microglia cell activation markers, such as ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1, in the hippocampus of mice. These results indicated that TDNs attenuated the LPS-induced secretion of inflammatory factors and consequently alleviated depression-like behavior.

Fuzzy expert system for diagnosing diabetic neuropathy

AIM To design a fuzzy expert system to help detect and diagnose the severity of diabetic neuropathy. METHODS The research was completed in 2014 and consisted of two main phases. In the first phase, the diagnostic parameters were determined based on the literature review and by investigating specialists' perspectives(n= 8). In the second phase, 244 medical records related to the patients who were visited in an endocrinology and metabolism research centre during the first six months of 2014 and were primarily diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy, were used to test the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the fuzzy expert system.RESULTS The final diagnostic parameters included the duration of diabetes, the score of a symptom examination based on the Michigan questionnaire, the score of a sign examination based on the Michigan questionnaire, the glycolysis haemoglobin level, fasting blood sugar, blood creatinine, and albuminuria. The output variable was the severity of diabetic neuropathy which was shown as a number between zero and 10, had been divided into four categories: absence of the disease,(the degree of severity) mild, moderate, and severe. The interface of the system was designed by ***(Active Server Pages Network Enabled Technology) and the system function was tested in terms of sensitivity(true positive rate)(89%), specificity(true negative rate)(98%), and accuracy(a proportion of true results, both positive and negative)(93%).CONCLUSION The system designed in this study can help specialistsand general practitioners to diagnose the disease more quickly to improve the quality of care for patients.
