Comparative analysis between single-train passing and double-train intersection in a tunnel

Aerodynamic pressure significantly impacts the scientific evaluation of tunnel service performance.The aerodynamic pressure of two trains running in a double-track tunnel is considerably more complicated than that of a single train.We used the numerical method to investigate the difference in aerodynamic pressure between a single train and two trains running in a double-track tunnel.First,the numerical method was verified by comparing the results of numerical simulation and on-site monitoring.Then,the characteristics of aerodynamic pressure were studied.Finally,the influence of various train-tunnel factors on the characteristics of aerodynamic pressure was investigated.The results show that the aerodynamic pressure variation can be divided into stage I:irregular pressure fluctuations before the train tail leaves the tunnel exit,and stage II:periodic pressure declines after the train tail leaves the tunnel exit.In addition,the aerodynamic pressure simultaneously jumps positively or drops negatively for a single train or two trains running in double-track tunnel scenarios.The pressure amplitude in the two-train case is higher than that for a single train.The maximum positive peak pressure difference(P_(STP))and maximum negative peak pressure difference(P_(STN))increase as train speed rises to the power from 2.256 to 2.930 in stage I.The P_(STP) and P_(STN) first increase and then decrease with the increase of tunnel length in stage I.The P_(STP) and P_(STN) increase as the blockage ratio rises to the power from 2.032 to 2.798 in stages I and II.

Mitochondria-targeted nanoparticles for encapsulating astaxanthin: exploring the reason for alleviating oxidative damage

Oxidative stress is considered as a critical factor in the process of pathological diseases， and mitochondria are considered as vital target organelles for disease intervention. The purpose of this study was aimed to evaluate the antioxidant efficacy of mitochondria-targeted astaxanthin nanoparticle on hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative damage. As expected， mitochondria-targeted nanoparticle showed excellent mitochondria co-localization ability with higher Pearson’s correlation coefficient (R=0.88). In vitro experiments suggested that the mitochondria-targeted astaxanthin nanoparticle could promote cell viability and increase antioxidant-related enzyme activities. Simultaneously， metabolomics analysis indicated that mitochondria-targeted astaxanthin nanoparticle could alleviate oxidative stress by regulating amino acid metabolism and energy metabolism. Altogether， all these results strongly confirmed the mitochondria-targeted strategy for astaxanthin delivery could relieve oxidative stress and had great promise in the application of disease intervention.

Hydraulic jetting is a form of fracturing that involves using a high-pressure jet of water to create fractures in the reservoir rock with a nozzle serving as the central component of the hydraulic sandblasting perforation tool.In this study,the flow behavior of the nozzle is simulated numerically in the framework of a SST k-ωturbulence model.The results show that the nozzle structure can significantly influence the jet performance and related cavitation effect.Through orthogonal experiments,the nozzle geometric parameters are optimized,and the following configuration is found accordingly:contraction angle 20°,contraction segment length 6 mm,cylindrical segment diameter 6 mm,cylindrical segment length 12 mm,spread segment length 10 mm,and spread angle 55°.

Coupled dynamic response analysis of multi-column floating offshore wind turbine with low center of gravity

To realize the application of the floating offshore wind turbine(FOWT)from deep to relatively shallow waters,a new concept of multi-column floating wind turbine platform with low center of gravity(CG)is designed and validated.The multi-column low CG platform is designed to support a 6MW wind turbine class and operated at a water depth of 50m in the South China sea.The frequency domain software WADAM and time domain software NREL-FAST are used to simulate coupled dynamic responses of the floating wind turbine system with second-order wave loads considering.The dynamic behaviors of multi-column low CG FOWT system under normal operation and parked conditions are presented.The influence of second-order wave force on the motion responses of the multi-column platform,fore-aft force and moment of the tower base and mooring force are researched respectively.The results demonstrate that the coupled dynamic responses at rated operating condition and extreme condition meet the normal operating requirements and extreme survival requirements of FOWT system in the shallow water(50m)of South China sea.In addition,it is found that,the wave frequency response gradually replaces the second-order low frequency response as the main influencing factor of the coupled dynamic response of the FOWT system with the increasing severity of the sea states.However,in general,the magnitude of second-order low frequency response increases with the increasing severity of the design load case.Thus,in the subsequent design of the shallow water FOWT system,the second-order effects should be paid enough attention.

Chromosome-level genome assembly of the Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri

Diaphorina citri is a global citrus pest.As a vector insect,it can transmit the causative agents of citrus huanglongbing,causing irreversible losses to the citrus industry.The acquisition of genomic information can provide a molecular genetic basis for effective control of D.citri.Here,the DNBSEQ™,Oxford Nanopore Technologies,and Hi-C technologies are applied to generate a high-quality chromosome-level genome of D.citri.The genome size of D.citri was 523.78 Mb with a scaffold N50 of 47.05 Mb distributed on 13 chromosomes.A total of 250.64 Mb(47.85%)repeat sequences and 24048 protein-coding genes were predicted.Genome resequencing of female and male individuals indicated that the sex chromosome system of D.citri is XO.Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that D.citri and Pachypsylla venusta,which separated from their most recent common ancestor about 336.62 million years ago,were the most closely related.Additionally,we identified genes potentially involved in detoxification metabolism,pathogen transmission,and honeydew secretion for further investigation.The high-quality genome provides an important reference for developing effective management strategies of D.citri.

Origin and tectonic setting of low-Si alkaline magma

Despite of the relatively rare occurrence of alkaline igneous rocks on Earth, they are the most diverse group of igneous rocks due to variations in their mineral assemblages and geochemical compositions. Alkaline igneous rocks are generally characterized by Si undersaturation, and K-Na(and in some cases C) enrichment. Although there is no unified alkaline igneous rock classification scheme, diagrams such as total alkalis-SiO_(2) or K_(2)O-SiO_(2) can be used to classify alkaline igneous rocks. The origins of silica-saturated alkaline rocks(SiO_(2)>52 wt.%) are relatively complex because multiple episodes of magmatism are often involved, therefore most studies have focused on the origins of silica-undersaturated alkaline magmas.Numerous experimental petrological studies have been conducted in the past few decades. Initially, it was considered that enrichment of trace elements was only achieved by low-degree partial melting of mantle peridotite, but the experimental melts could not reproduce the geochemical composition of natural alkaline igneous rocks. Subsequent studies have focused on carbonate-bearing eclogites that represent the average component of subducted oceanic crust. Although experimental studies indicate that silica-undersaturated and alkali-oversaturated melts can be generated from eclogites, some studies have considered that natural silica-undersaturated alkaline igneous rocks are the result of multi-stage source enrichment by incompatible elements. Low-degree partial melts of the mantle can be emplaced in the lithospheric mantle, forming veins consisting of phlogopite, amphibole, and pyroxene. Melting experiments including these components show that the produced melts better reproduce the naturally occurring silica-undersaturated alkaline magmas. Silica-deficient alkaline igneous rocks occur in various tectonic settings. Natural radionuclides are powerful tools for understanding the sources and fate of suspended particulate matter(SPM).Particulate matter with different particle sizes behaves differently with respect to adsorption and desorption.We analyzed the activi-ties and distribution characteristics of multiple natural radionuclides(238U,226Ra,40K,228Ra,7Be and 210Pbex)on size-fractionated SPM at the Lijin Hydrographic Station(Huanghe or Yellow River)every month over a one-year period.Results showed that medium silt(16–32µm)was the main component.As expected,the activity of each radionuclide decreased with an increase of particle size.We examined the sources of SPM with different particle sizes using activity ratios of 226Ra/238U,228Ra/226Ra,40K/238U and 7Be/210Pbex,and concluded that SPM with different particle sizes originated from different sources.Our results indicate that fine SPM(32µm)was mainly derived from resuspension of riverbed sediment.During high runoff periods,the concentration of SPM increased significantly,and the pro-portion of fine particles originating upstream increased.Naturally occurring radioactive isotopes,especially on size-fractionated par-ticles,are therefore seen as useful tracers to understand the sources and behaviors of riverine particles transported from land to sea.

Explosive cyclones(ECs)occur frequently over the Kuroshio/Kuroshio Extension region.The most rapidly intensified EC over the Kuroshio/Kuroshio Extension region during the 42 years(1979-2020)of cold seasons(October-April)was studied to reveal the variations of the key factors at different explosive-developing stages.This EC had weak low-level baroclinicity,mid-level cyclonic-vorticity advection,and strong low-level water vapor convergence at the initial explosive-developing stage.The low-level baroclinicity and mid-level cyclonic-vorticity advection increased substantially during the maximum-deepening-rate stage.The diagnostic analyses using the Zwack-Okossi equation showed that diabatic heating was the main contributor to the initial rapid intensification of this EC.The cyclonic-vorticity advection and warm-air advection enhanced rapidly in the middle and upper troposphere and contributed to the maximum rapid intensification,whereas the diabatic heating weakened slightly in the mid-low troposphere.The relative contribution of the diabatic heating decreased from the initial explosive-developing stage to the maximum-deepening-rate stage due to the enhancement of other factors(the cyclonic-vorticity advection and warm-air advection).Furthermore,the physical factors contributing to this EC varied with the explosive-developing stage.The non-key factors at the initial explosive-developing stage need attention to forecast the rapid intensification.

Association between body mass index and in vitro fertilization/intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes: An analysis of 15,124 normal ovarian responders in China

Background: High body mass index (BMI) results in decreased fecundity, and women with high BMI have reduced rates of clinical pregnancy and live birth inin vitro fertilization/intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI). Meanwhile, ovarian responses show great heterogeneity in patients with a high BMI. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a high BMI on IVF/ICSI outcomes in the Chinese female with normal ovarian response.Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study comprising 15,124 patients from the medical record system of the Reproductive center of Peking University Third Hospital, with 3530 (23.3%) in the overweight group and 1380 (9.1%) in the obese group, who had a normal ovarian response (5-15 oocytes retrieved) and underwent fresh embryo transfer (ET) cycles from January 2017 to December 2018, followed by linked frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles from January 2017 to December 2020. Cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) was used as the primary outcome. Furthermore, a generalized additive model was applied to visually illustrate the curvilinear relationship between BMI and the outcomes. We used a decision tree to identify the specific population where high BMI had the greatest effect on IVF/ICSI outcomes.Results: High BMI was associated with poor IVF/ICSI outcomes, both in cumulative cycles and in separate fresh ET or FET cycles. In cumulative cycles, compared with the normal weight group, obesity was correlated with a lower positive pregnancy test rate (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]: 0.809, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.682-0.960), lower clinical pregnancy rate (aOR: 0.766, 95% CI: 0.646-0.907), lower live birth rate (aOR: 0.706, 95% CI: 0.595-0.838), higher cesarean section rate (aOR: 2.066, 95% CI: 1.533-2.785), and higher rate of large for gestational age (aOR: 2.273, 95% CI: 1.547-3.341). In the generalized additive model, we found that CLBR declined with increasing BMI, with 24 kg/m2 as an inflection point. Design of Resilient Sensor Networks Balancing Resilience and Efficiency

In recent years,the notion of resilience has been developed and applied in many technical areas,becoming exceptionally pertinent to disaster risk science.During a disaster situation,accurate sensing information is the key to efficient recovery efforts.In general,resilience aims to minimize the impact of disruptions to systems through the fast recovery of critical functionality,but resilient design may require redundancy and could increase costs.In this article,we describe a method based on binary linear programming for sensor network design balancing efficiency with resilience.The application of the developed framework is demonstrated for the case of interior building surveillance utilizing infrared sensors in both twoand three-dimensional spaces.The method provides optimal sensor placement,taking into account critical functionality and a desired level of resilience and considering sensor type and availability.The problem formulation,resilience requirements,and application of the optimization algorithm are described in detail.Analysis of sensor locations with and without resilience requirements shows that resilient configuration requires redundancy in number of sensors and their intelligent placement.Both tasks are successfully solved by the described method,which can be applied to strengthen the resilience of sensor networks by design.The proposed methodology is suitable for large-scale optimization problems with many sensors and extensive coverage areas.
