Background Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)infection in infants is a global health *** aimed to investigate the common manifestations of RSV infection by age group and human development index(HDI)level and to assess its association with the development of wheezing and recurrent wheezing *** We searched the literature published between January 1,2010 and June 2,2022 in seven *** included common manifestations and long-term respiratory outcomes of RSV infection in ***-and fixed-effect models were used to estimate the effect size and their 95%confidence *** analysis was conducted by age and HDI *** review was registered in PROSPERO(CRD42022379401).Results The meta-analysis included 47 *** top five manifestations were cough(92%),nasal congestion(58%),rhinorrhea(53%),shortness of breath(50%),and dyspnea(47%).The clinical symptoms were most severe in *** our analysis,compared to very high and high HDI countries,fewer studies in medium HDI countries reported related manifestations,and no study in low HDI countries reported *** RSV-infected infants were more likely to develop wheezing than the non-infected infants[odds ratio(OR),3.12;95%CI,2.59–3.76]and had a higher risk of developing wheezing illnesses after recovery(OR,2.60;95%CI,2.51–2.70).Conclusions Cough and shortness of breath are common manifestations of RSV *** attention should be given to infants and areas with low HDI *** current findings confirm an association between RSV infection and wheezing or recurrent wheezing illness.

TurboID Proximity Labeling of a Protocadherin Protein to Characterize Interacting Protein Complex

The study of the neuron has always been a fundamental aspect when it came to studying mental illnesses such as autism and depression. The protein protocadherin-9 (PCDH9) is an important transmembrane protein in the development of the neuron synapse. Hence, research on its protein interactome is key to understanding its functionality and specific properties. A newly discovered biotin ligase, TurboID, is a proximity labeler that is designed to be able to label and observe transmembrane proteins, something that previous methods struggled with. The TurboID method is verified in HEK293T cells and primary cultured mouse cortical neurons. Results have proven the validity of the TurboID method in observing PCDH9-interacting proteins.

Posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) has been associated with significantly greater incidence of heart *** studies have indicated that health problems for individuals with PTSD occur earlier in life than in the general population. Multiple mechanistic pathways have been suggested to explain cardiovascular disese(CVD)risk in PTSD,including neurochemical,behavioral,and immunological changes. The present paper is a review of recent research that examines cardiovascular and immune risk profiles of individuals with PTSD. First,we address the relatively new evidence that the constellation of risk factors commonly experienced in PTSD fits the profile of metabolic syndrome. Next we examine the findings concerning hypertension/blood pressure in particular. The literature on sympathetic and parasympathetic responsivity in PTSD is reviewed. Last,we discuss recent findings concerning immune functioning in PTSD that may have a bearing on the high rates of CVD and other illnesses. Our primary goal is to synthesize the existing literature by examining factors that overlap mechanistically to increase the risk of developing CVD in PTSD.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.[1]Most COVID-19 patients exhibit mild to moderate symptoms,while approximately 15%progress rapidly to severe pneumonia,and about 5%eventually develop acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS),[2]which requires mechanical ventilation(MV)and even extracorporeal membrane *** mortality of COVID-19 patients who received MV was reported to be as high as 66%.[3]Therefore,the treatments aiming to improve mortality should focus on two aspects:first,prevention of the aggravation of the disease in mild and moderate COVID-19 patients;second,the rescue therapy for patients in serious *** have been applying high-dose intravenous vitamin C(HDIVC)in the treatment of critical illnesses for almost 10 years in our *** previous in vivo research showed that HDIVC protected hemorrhagic shock-related multiple organ failure(MOF)by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines and oxidative indicators through activating Sirtuin1 pathway.

Mortality is a well-established patient-important outcome in critical care *** contrast,morbidity is less uniformly reported(given the myriad of critical care illnesses and complications of each)but may have a common end-impact on a patient’s functional capacity and health-related quality-of-life(HRQoL).Survival with a poor quality-of-life may not be acceptable depending on individual patient values and ***,as mortality decreases within critical care,it becomes increasingly important to measure intensive care unit(ICU)survivor *** measurements with a preference-based scoring algorithm can be converted into health utilities on a scale anchored at 0(representing death)and 1(representing full health).They can be combined with survival to calculate quality-adjusted life-years(QALY),which are one of the most widely used methods of combining morbidity and mortality into a composite *** QALYs have been use for health-technology assessment decision-making,an emerging and novel role would be to inform clinical decision-making for patients,families and healthcare providers about what expected HRQoL may be during and after ICU *** care randomized control trials(RCTs)have not routinely measured or reported HRQoL(until more recently),likely due to incapacity of some patients to participate in patient-reported outcome *** differences in HRQoL measurement tools can lead to non-comparable *** this end,we propose the validation of a gold-standard HRQoL tool in critical care,specifically the *** combined health-utility and mortality(disaggregated)and QALYs(aggregated)can be reported,with disaggregation allowing for determination of which components are the main drivers of the QALY *** use of HRQoL,health-utility,and QALYs in critical care RCTs has the potential to:(1)Increase the likelihood of finding important effects if they exist;(2)improve research efficiency;and(3)help inform optimal m
