Eliminating the effects of gravity and designing nonlinear energy sinks(NESs)that suppress vibration in the vertical direction is a challenging task with numerous damping *** this paper,the dynamic design of a vertical track nonlinear energy sink(VTNES)with zero linear stiffness in the vertical direction is proposed and realized for the first *** motion differential equations of the VTNES coupled with a linear oscillator(LO)are *** the strong nonlinearity considered of the VTNES,the steady-state response of the system is analyzed with the harmonic balance method(HBM),and the accuracy of the HBM is verified *** this basis,the VTNES prototype is manufactured,and its nonlinear stiffness is *** damping effect and dynamic characteristics of the VTNES are studied theoretically and *** results show that the VTNES has better damping effects when strong modulation responses(SMRs)***,even for small-amplitude vibration,the VTNES also has a good vibration suppression *** sum up,in order to suppress the vertical vibration,an NES is designed and developed,which can suppress the vertical vibration within certain ranges of the resonance frequency and the vibration intensity.

Influence of syngas components and ash particles on the radiative heat transfer in a radiant syngas cooler

Radiant syngas cooler(RSC)is widely used as a waste heat recovery equipment in industrial *** this work,an RSC with radiation screens is established and the impact of gaseous radiative property models,gas components,and ash particles on heat transfer is investigated by the numerical simulation *** the syngas components and the pressure environment of the RSC,a modified weighted-sum-of-gray-gases model was *** modified model shows high accuracy in *** computational fluid dynamics simulation,the calculated steam production is only 0.63%in error with the industrial *** with Smith's model,the temperature decay along the axial direction calculated by the modified model is *** components are of great significance to heat recovery capacity,especially when the absorbing gas fraction is less than 10%.After considering the influence of particles,the outlet temperature and the proportion of radiative heat transfer are less affected,but the difference in steam output reaches 2.7 t·h^(-1).The particle deposition on the wall greatly reduces the heat recovery performance of an RSC.

Non-magnetic semiconductor materials and their devices have attracted wide attention since they are usually prone to exhibit large positive magnetoresistance(MR)effect in a low static magnetic field environment at room ***,how to obtain a large room-temperature negative MR effect in them remains to be *** this paper,by designing an Au/n-Ge:Sb/Au device with metal electrodes located on identical side,we observe an obvious room-temperature negative MR effect in a specific 50 T pulsed high magnetic field direction environment,but not in a static low magnetic field *** the analysis of the experimental measurement of the Hall effect results and bipolar transport theory,we propose that this unconventional negative MR effect is mainly related to the charge accumulation on the surface of the device under the modulation of the stronger Lorentz force provided by the pulsed high magnetic *** theoretical analytical model is further confirmed by regulating the geometry size of the *** work sheds light on the development of novel magnetic sensing,magnetic logic and other devices based on non-magnetic semiconductors operating in pulsed high magnetic field environment.

Y_(3)Fe_(5)O_(12)(YIG)crystals are highly desirable for the fabrication of mid-infrared isolators with the rapid growth of optical communications,although it is rather challenging to grow large size and high-quality single ***^(3+)doping is expected to improve the optical and magneto-optical prope ***,high quality Dy:YIG crystals and the adjustment of Dy^(3+)on the structure and optical behavior of YIG crystal remain unclear,impeding its practical ***,a series of Y_(3-x)Dy_(x)Fe_(5)O_(12)(x=0,0.5,1.0,1.5,3)solid solution crystals was grown by the flux-Bridgman method and single crystals up to 25 mm were *** the introduction of Dy^(3+),lattice parameters are gradually enlarged from 1.2379 nm(YIG)to 1.2420 nm(DyIG).Typical Dy^(3+)absorption peaks are observed around 1070,1265 and 1670 *** refractive index decreases from 2.37(500 nm)to 2.10(2500 nm)for YIG crystal,and it reduces from 2.47(500 nm)to 2.16(2500 nm)for DyIG *** optical bandgaps remain almost unchanged for Dy:YIG *** optical dispersion of the refractive indices was finely fitted by the Wemple and DiDomenico(WDD)and the Sellmeier models,*** the increase of Dy^(3+)content,the saturation magnetization(Ms)decreases significantly from 23.62 emu/g(YIG)to 5.33 emu/g(DyIG).Small coercive field is persisted for this system,endowing small external magnetic *** results provide valuable references for the manipulation of rare earths on the properties of magnetooptical crystals,which is beneficial to the design of high-performance garnet crystals for the application of optical switching and non-reciprocal related devices.

In this paper,we first present the optimal error estimates of the semi-discrete ultra-weak discontinuous Galerkin method for solving one-dimensional linear convection-diffusion ***,coupling with a kind of Runge-Kutta type implicit-explicit time discretization which treats the convection term explicitly and the diffusion term implicitly,we analyze the stability and error estimates of the corresponding fully discrete *** fully discrete schemes are proved to be stable if the time-stepτ≤τ0,whereτ0 is a constant independent of the mesh-size ***,by the aid of a special projection and a careful estimate for the convection term,the optimal error estimate is also obtained for the third order fully discrete *** experiments are displayed to verify the theoretical results.

Influence of cerium and yttrium addition on strength and electrical conductivity of pure aluminum alloys

To develop pure aluminum alloys with high conductivity and strength, Al-0.2Ce and Al-0.2Ce-0.1Y alloys were prepared by rolling and annealing processes in this study. The effects of trace rare earth elements on the strength and electrical conductivity of the pure aluminum alloys were investigated. It is revealed that the addition of Ce and Y to pure aluminum can effectively enhance the strength and electrical conductivity of the alloys. In Al-0.2Ce, the addition of Ce can effectively refine the grain size of a-Al, with an average grain size of 90.68 μm in the as-cast state. The grain size of the alloy is further reduced to 87.55 μm by the simultaneous addition of Y. The synergistic addition of Ce and Y changes the properties of the alloy. The addition of Ce and Y also produces the Al_(11)Ce_(3) and Al_(3)Y second phases, which have coherent relationship with a-Al. The two-dimensional mismatch degree was calculated to be only 4.43%and 0.85%, respectively, which can provide a certain amount of nucleation substrate for a-Al in the incubation stage. The interfacial match between the L1_(2)structure of Al_(3)Y and a-Al was calculated using first-principles simulations. The results indicate that Al_(3)Y has a strong bonding effect with a-Al. Nanoscale second phases at grain boundaries can be effective in reducing resistivity due to dislocation *** second phases with better matching interfaces to the substrate have no positive effect on the scattering motion of electrons.

Tauopathies are a group of neurological disorders,including Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia,which involve progressive neurodegeneration,cognitive deficits,and aberrant tau protein *** development of tauopathies cannot currently be stopped or slowed down by treatment *** the significant contribution of tau burden in primary tauopathies and the strong association between pathogenic tau accumulation and cognitive deficits,there has been a lot of interest in creating therapies that can alleviate tau pathology and render neuroprotective ***,small molecules,immunotherapies,and gene therapy have been used to reduce the pathological tau burden and prevent neurodegeneration in animal models of ***,the major pitfall of the current therapeutic approach is the difficulty of drugs and gene-targeting modalities to cross the blood-brain barrier and their unintended side *** this review,the current therapeutic strategies used for tauopathies including the use of oligonucleotide-based gene therapy approaches that have shown a promising result for the treatment of tauopathies and Alzheimer’s disease in preclinical animal models,have been discussed.

Near-field wideband beam training for ELAA with uniform circular array

Valley degeneracy can be broken owing to the strong spin-orbit coupling in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides（2D-TMDCs）. Valley-dependent interaction of carriers in TMDCs with different circular polarizations of light offers valley degree-of-freedom besides charge and spin to carry information. Thus, bandgap engineering of 2D-TMDCs plays a critical role in developing practical valleytronic devices. Hereby, we demonstrate a great enhancement in quantum yield as well as polarization of monolayer MoS2achieved by gradually alloying W atoms in MoS2. By appropriately setting a time offset between the evaporation of MoO3and WO3precursors during chemical vapor deposition, a compositionally graded heterostructure of MoS2-WS2monolayer can be readily grown at large scale. Raman and transmission electron microscopy measurements demonstrate that the interface possesses a steep gradient in composition, spanning from MoS2to WS2over a length ～2 μ*** to pure monolayer MoS2, the photoluminescence intensity at the compositionally graded interface of Mo1-xWxS2was observed to increase by a factor of 16 owing to the effective separation of photogenerated carriers by the built-in electric field. Particularly, a remarkably high polarization of 70% at 16 K is demonstrated for the compositionally graded interface of Mo1-xWxS2, which is ～1.4 times larger than that in MoS2and is attributed to the combined effect of the alloyed structure and graded bandgap. Such an engineering scheme with a graded bandgap offers new approach for the development of high-efficiency valleytronics devices.

Extremely large-scale antenna array(ELAA) at millimeter wave(mmWave) and Terahertz(THz)band has been considered a key technology for combating high attenuation in high-frequency bands in future6G communications. Uniform circular arrays(UCAs) have attracted much attention because of their ability to provide flat beamforming gain at all angles. To realize efficient beamforming, beam training is widely used to acquire channel state information. However, with a large antenna number, the beam training overhead in ELAA systems becomes overwhelming. Moreover, with a large bandwidth, the beam defocus effect severely degrades beam training accuracy. To address these issues, this paper proposes a frequency-dependent focusing(FDF)-based beam training scheme to realize effective beam training in near-field wideband ELAA systems with UCA. Specifically, we first analyze the FDF property of UCA, where signals at different subcarriers can simultaneously focus on different distances. Then, by exploiting the FDF property to search different distances using different subcarriers simultaneously, we design a hierarchical codebook and propose an FDFbased beam training scheme. To reveal the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, we compare its necessary beam training overhead with that of existing schemes. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve accurate beam training in near-field wideband UCA systems with a low beam training overhead.
