From 2010 to 2012, the China Geological survey center for hydrogeology and environmental geology survey （CHEGS） carried out the project ＂Potential evaluation and demonstration project of CO2 Geological Storage in China＂. During this project, we developed an evaluation index system and technical methods for the potential and suitability of CO2 geological storage based on China＇s geological conditions, and evaluated the potential and suitability of the primary basins for COz geological storage, in order to draw a series of regional scale maps （at a scale of 1：5000000） and develop an atlas of the main sedimentary basins in China. By using these tools, we delineated many potential targets for CO2 storage. We also built techniques and methods for site selection and the exploration and assessment of CO2 geological storage in deep saline aquifers. Furthermore, through cooperation with the China Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Co., Ltd., we successfully constructed the first coal-based demonstration project for CO2 geological storage in deep saline aquifers in the Yijinhuoluo Banner of Ordos in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which brought about the basic preliminary theories, techniques, and methods of geological CO2 storage in deep saline aquifers under China＇s geological conditions.

This paper introduced the first hand investigation results of the risk and treatment measures for the barrier lakes triggered by the earthquake of Wenchuan. Characteristics of 10 barrier lakes were investigated and analyzed; procedure and methods for barrier lake treatment were brought forward. The dams of the barrier lakes can be classified as two classes： block rock in the south and loose deposit in the north. All the barrier dams were stable at the time of investigation, but water drainage channel needed to be constructed and to be protected from blockage or collapse. After the rain season of 2008, some dams needed to be consolidated, and change the barrier lakes to reservoirs.

Understanding the controlling factor of groundwater quality can enhance promoting sustainable development of groundwater resources. To this end, multivariate statistical analysis（MA） and hydrochemical analysis were introduced in this work. The results indicate that the canonical discriminant function with 7 parameters was established using the discriminant analysis（DA） method, which can afford 100% correct assignation according to the 3 different clusters（good water（GW）, poor water（PW）, and very poor water（VPW）） obtained from cluster analysis（CA）. According to factor analysis（FA）, 8 factors were extracted from 25 hydrochemical elements and account for 80.897% of the total data variance, suggesting that groundwater with higher concentrations of sodium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and sulfate in southeastern study area are mainly affected by the natural process; the higher level of arsenic and chromium in groundwater extracted from northwestern part of study area are derived by industrial activities; domestic and agriculture sewage have important contribution to copper, iron, iodine, and phosphate in the northern study area. Therefore, this work can help identify the main controlling factor of groundwater quality in North China plain so as to make better and more informed decisions about how to achieve groundwater resources sustainable development.

Groundwater has been a major natural resource for human consumption in north China. It is necessary to appreciate the suitability of deep groundwater for drinking, agricultural irrigation, and industrial uses in this region. To this end, a total of 47 groundwater samples were collected from the study area; by comparing the concentrations of different hydrochemical variables with quality standard values, the variable fuzzy set (VFS) was applied to calculate the groundwater quality index (GQI) for various purposes, respectively. Afterward GQI spatial distribution maps were constructed using a geographic information system (GIS) tool to delineate spatial variations of groundwater quality. In this case study, the GQI spatial distribution maps reveal that the areas covered by "Maximum Permissible" groundwater for varying purposes (drinking, irrigation, and industrial) is 1377.2; 2354.7; and 3854.8 km2, respectively. The groundwater in the eastern part of the study area is suitable for drinking, with the southwestern region as the irrigation water source; the entire study area is acceptable for use in industrial, except the western part of Jiaozuo City. Therefore, the GQI spatial distribution maps can provide useful information for non-technical decision makers for better sustainable groundwater resources management.

The analysis of hydrochemical characteristics and influencing factors of surface river on plateau is helpful to study water hydrological cycle and environmental evolution,which can scientifically guide rational development and utilization of water resources and planning of ecological environment *** the expansion and diversification of human activities,the quality of surface rivers will be more directly ***,it is of great significance to pay attention to the hydrochemical characteristics of plateau surface rivers and the influence of human activities on their circulation and *** this study,surface water in the Duoqu basin of Jinsha River located in Hengduan mountain region of Eastern Tibet was selected as the representative ***-three groups of surface water samples were collected to analyze the hydrochemical characteristics and ion sources based on correlation analysis,piper trigram,gibbs model,hydrogen and oxygen isotopic *** results suggest the following:(1)The pH showed slight alkalinity with the value ranged from 7.25 to ***^(2+),Mg^(2+)and HCO_(3)^(–)were the main cations and ***_(3)^(-)Ca and HCO_(3)^(-)Ca·Mg were the primary hydrochemical types for the surface water of Duoqu *** correlation analysis showed that TDS had the most significant correlation with Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+)and HCO_(3)^(–).Analysis on hydrogen and oxygen isotopes indicated that the surface rivers were mainly recharged by atmospheric precipitation and glacial melt water in this study area.(2)The surface water had a certain reverse cation alternating adsorption,and surface water ions were mainly derived from rock weathering,mainly controlled by weathering and dissolution of carbonates,and secondly by silicates and sodium rocks.(3)The influence of human activities was weak,while the development of cinnabar minerals had a certain impact on the hydrochemistry characteristics,which was the main factor for causing the increase of S

Coal mining subsidence is a universal environmental-geological problem in mining areas. By selecting the Shen-Dong coal mining subsidence area as the research field, this paper studies the changes in precipitation infiltration recharge in the circumstances of coal mining subsidence by means of field geological investigation and laboratory simulation experiments, which is expected to provide a scientific basis for eco-environmental restoration in the mining area. The results indicate that at the unstable stage of subsidence, three types of subsidence in the Shen-Dong mining area have positive effects on the precipitation infiltration recharge, and the type of full-thickness bedrock subsidence has the greatest influence. In the stable stage of subsidence, the precipitation infiltration process after long- term drought and the moisture migration in the aeration zone undergo three different stages： evaporation-infiltration before precipitation, infiltration-upward infiltration-infiltration during precipitation and evaporation-infiltration after precipitation. During a heavy rainfall infiltration process, the wetting front movement in fine sand, coarse sand and dualistic structure of fine-coarse sand consists of two stages： the stage of wetting front movement during precipitation, in which the wetting front movement distance has linear relationship with the depth, and the stage of wetting front movement after precipitation, in which the wetting front movement distance has the power function relationship with the depth. The wetting front movement velocity is influenced by the rainfall amount and the lithology in the aeration zone. However, as the depth increases, the movement velocity will decay exponentially.

This work established an evaluation index system based on a comprehensive analysis of those factors affecting the suitability of CO2 geological *** evaluation index system includes three evaluation index layers of geological safety,storage scale and social economy,nine evaluation index sub-layers,and 28 evaluation index factors,and adopts the analytic hierarchy process（AHP）and index overlay *** the Xining Basin in northwest China as an example,we conducted comprehensive analysis of geological conditions and performed quantitative evaluation based on this evaluation index system,which indicates that the Shuangshu depression of the Xining Basin is comparatively suitable for CO2 geological *** is suggested that this evaluation index system and the evaluation method proposed in this study are suitable for most continental sedimentary basins in China and should be widely applied.

Based on Investigation and Assessment on Rational Exploitation and Utilization of Groundwater Resources in Typical Areas of the Hexi Corridor, the thesis studies on groundwater and environmental problems arising from the large-scale agricultural development projects in Shule River Basin. The thesis analyzes problems in exploiting and utilizing water resources, defines the function zoning of groundwater resources in key areas and evaluates them. Finally, the thesis uses three-dimensional unsteady flow simulation and regional social and economic development plan to study on the allocation of groundwater in Shule River Basin. A proposal for rational allocation of Shule River Basin water resources has been put forward.

A new variational method treating the system as a whole with rigorous mathematical and physical derivation was presented in this *** with classical and engineering examples,variational energy expressions of slopes were *** addition,the calculation programs were written in the FISH language set in FLAC3D(fast Lagrangian analysis of continua in three dimensions)*** of safety(FOSs)of the models were determined by the variational method based on the strength reduction method(SRM)and then compared with other criteria or *** result showed that the variational method reflected the process of slope plasticity and failure uniformly and was feasible to analyze the stability of inhomogeneous *** method was applicable to both two-dimensional and three-dimensional heterogeneous *** small error with other criteria or methods also showed the accuracy of this *** method unified other criteria,avoided the artificial error of other criteria,and provided a logical derivation for the instability of heterogeneous *** method considered the system as a whole and avoided the shortcomings of the general method of one-sided instability *** proposed method is of great significance as it considers the coupling effect of stress and strain of materials and gives the mechanical basis for the instability of complex slopes.

Spatiotemporal Evolution Characteristics Study on the Precipitation Infiltration Recharge over the Past 50 Years in the North China Plain

The spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of precipitation infiltration recharge during the past 50 years are discussed in this paper. This research is significant for groundwater resource rational utilization. The distribution of precipitation infiltration recharge coefficients in the 1960 s, 1980 s, and 2000 s can be obtained using unsaturated zone lithology and depth to water table at different times. The amount of precipitation infiltration recharge in the 1960 s, 1980 s, and 2000 s can be calculated using precipitation infiltration recharge coefficients and precipitation data from the Ministry of Water Resources of China. Results show that the change in the precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient is closely related to the water table decrease. From the 1960 s to the 1980 s, the precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient clearly increased in all units. From the 1980 s to the 2000 s, the value slightly increased in the ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial and eastern alluvial-marine plains and slightly decreased in the piedmont alluvial-proluvial and central alluvial-lacustrine plains. The piedmont alluvial-proluvial and ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial plains exhibited a large precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient for the coarse lithology. The amounts of precipitation infiltration recharges were 16.23×109（1960s）, 19.11×109（1980s）, and 19.42×109 m3/a（2000s）. The amount of precipitation infiltration recharge increased from the 1960 s to the 1980 s then decreased from the 1980 s to the 2000 s in the piedmont alluvial-proluvial and the central alluvial-lacustrine plains. However, this value increased from the 1960 s to the 2000 s in the ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial and eastern alluvial-marine plains.
