Exposure of individuals aged 18-44 years to personal care products in Beijing,China:Exposure profiles,possible influencing factors,and risk assessment

Personal care products(PCPs)are a class of emerging pollutants that have attracted public concern owing to their harmful effects on humans and the *** data is valuable for insight the levels of PCPs in the human body and can be crucial for identifying potential health *** gain a better understanding of timely exposure profiles and health risk of reproductive-age population to PCPs,we determined six parabens,six benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters,and three disinfectants in 256 urine samples collected from young adults aged 18-44 years in Beijing,*** urinary levels of benzophenone-3(BP-3)and 4-hydroxybenzophenone(4-OHBP)were significantly higher in summer compared to winter,suggesting these compounds have different seasonal usage ***,the total concentration of 15 PCPs in female was 430 ng/mL,approximately two times higher than that in male.P-chloro-m-xylenol(PCMX),as a new type of antibacterial agent,has the greatest level among all target analytes,indicating the increasingly use of this antibacterial alternative *** potential influencing factors that lead to the elevated exposure level of PCPs were *** 19%of the target population had a high hazard index value(greater than 1)which was attributed to exposure to propyl paraben(PrP),benzophenone-1(BP-1),BP-3 and PCMX,indicating that PCPs may pose a relatively high exposure risk at environmental levels that should be a cause for concern.

What is already known about this topic?Campylobacter is a significant foodborne pathogen that leads to global outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis(AGE)usually affecting less than 30 *** sapovirus(HuSaV)is an enteric virus responsible for sporadic cases and outbreaks of AGE *** a study conducted in Beijing,HuSaV detection ranked second after *** is added by this report?We present a discussion of the first large-scale outbreak of AGE caused by both Campylobacter coli(***)and *** outbreak involved a total of 996 patients and exhibited two distinct peaks over a period of 17 *** case-control studies,we identified exposure to raw water from a secondary water supply system as a significant risk *** 83 patients,49 samples tested positive for ***,39 samples tested positive for HuSaV,and 27 samples tested positive for both pathogens using real-time polymerase chain reaction ***,whole-genome sequencing of 17 *** isolates obtained from 17 patients revealed that all isolates belonged to a highly clonal strain of *** are the implications for public health practice?Outbreaks of AGE resulting from multiple pathogen infections warrant increased *** report emphasizes the significance of ensuring the safety of drinking water,particularly in secondary supply systems.

In August 2021,three students with diarrhea from the same school visited a local hospital in the S district of *** epidemic investigation showed that there were more students with diarrhea in the same school and they had one meal *** jejuni was isolated from both patients with diarrhea and asymptomatic food handlers;however,the latter also carried Campylobacter *** analysis showed that there was a campylobacteriosis outbreak among the students,and the asymptomatic food handler may have been the source of the *** inspection and surveillance for Campylobacter is needed for the food producing staff,particularly those cooking in the cafeteria in schools or other public food services.

Genetic Characteristics and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Arcobacter butzleri Isolates from Raw Chicken Meat and Patients with Diarrhea in China

Arcobacter is an emerging foodborne pathogen *** this study,the prevalence,antimicrobial susceptibility and genetic characteristics of Arcobacter from different sources were *** *** isolates were obtained from 60 raw chicken meat samples(16/60,27%)and 150 patients with diarrhea(2/150,1.3%).The resistance ratios to nalidixic acid,ciprofloxacin,clindamycin,chloramphenicol,and florfenicol were 83.33%(15/18),38.89%(7/18),38.89%(7/18),33.33%(6/18)and 33.33%(6/18),*** performed whole genome sequencing of the 18 isolates,and we predicted antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors by using assembled genomes through blastx *** resistance genes,blaOXA-464 and tet(H),and the C254T mutation in gyrA,were identified in the genomes of some resistant ***,virulence genes,such as flgG,flhA,flhB,fliI,fliP,motA,cadF,cjl349,ciaB,mviN,pldA and tlyA,were found in all strains,whereas hecA,hecB and iroE were found in only some *** tree analysis of *** isolates on the basis of the core-genome single nucleotide polymorphisms showed that two isolates from patients with diarrhea clustered together,separately from the isolates from raw chicken and the chicken *** study is the first comprehensive analysis of Arcobacter isolated in Beijing.
