building occupant presence during varying periods is crucial to the performance studies of buildings and city ***,the understanding of the building occupancies on the university campus remains *** address this gap,our study employs field measurements,payment records,course arrangements,and building access systems to depict the occupancy patterns of the canteen,dormitory,library,and teaching and lab buildings during weekdays and *** found that the occupancy rates across different buildings are somehow interrelated,given that the total number of occupants on campus is generally ***,dormitory occupancy rates tend to be low during the morning and afternoon course hours,which inversely correlates with the high occupancy rates in the teaching and lab buildings during these ***,canteens experience surges in occupancy during meal times,which coincide with a decrease in library ***,we established appliance operation schedules for dormitories through surveys and on-site *** dispensers and electronic devices were identified as the primary energy consumers for both male and female occupants,with desk-top fans and hairdryers being significant energy users for male and female occupants,*** findings are essential for energy studies within a campus setting,underlining the importance of considering occupant behaviors on a regional scale.

Continuous efforts are underway to reduce carbon emissions worldwide in response to global climate *** electrolysis technology,in conjunction with renewable energy,is considered the most feasible hydrogen production technology based on the viable possibility of large-scale hydrogen production and the zero-carbon-emission nature of the ***,for hydrogen produced via water electrolysis systems to be utilized in various fields in practice,the unit cost of hydrogen production must be reduced to$1/kg H_(2).To achieve this unit cost,technical targets for water electrolysis have been suggested regarding components in the *** this paper,the types of water electrolysis systems and the limitations of water electrolysis system components are *** suggest guideline with recent trend for achieving this technical target and insights for the potential utilization of water electrolysis technology.

A series of mixed alkali-zinc borosilicate glasses with various r values(r=molar ratio of[ZnO]/([R^(2)O]+[ZnO]))from 0.00 to 1.00 were fabricated to probe the mixed alkali-zinc effects on thermo-mechanical *** nonlinear evolution of glass transition temperature(T_(g))with the addition of ZnO is ascribed to the competition of two converse factors,i e,the T_(g)depression as one of the colligative properties for a solution,on the one hand,and the enhancement of T_(g)due to the higher field strength of zinc cations compared to that of alkali ***,the nonlinear evolution of elastic moduli and coefficients of thermal expansion with r is attributed to the variance of intermediate-range clusters,which is confirmed by infrared and Raman scattering *** findings are very helpful in tailoring the performance of borosilicate glasses.

DFT+U is a widely used treatment in the density functional theory(DFT)to deal with correlated materials that contain open-shell elements,whereby the quantitative and sometimes even qualitative failures of local and semi-local approximations can be corrected without much computational ***,finding appropriate U parameters for a given system and structure is non-trivial and computationally intensive,because the U value has generally a strong chemical and structural *** this work,we address this issue by building a machine learning(ML)model that enables the prediction of material-and structure-specific U values at nearly no computational *** Mn–O system as an example,the ML model is trained by calibrating DFT+U electronic structures with the hybrid functional results of more than 3000 *** model allows us to determine an accurate U value(MAE=0.128 eV,R^(2)=0.97)for any given Mn–O *** analysis reveals that M–O bond lengths are key local structural properties in determining the U *** approach of the ML U model is universally applicable,to significantly expand and solidify the use of the DFT+U method.

1 Introduction Completely decomposed granite(CDG)is widely distributed in South China(Xu et al.,2022;Wang et al.,2023).The parent granite rock mass gradually loses features during the weathering process,and thus needs to be reinforced when used(Lan et al.,2003;Dassekpo et al.,2017;Alamanis et al.,2021).On the other hand,considering the huge demand for construction materials and limited natural resources,it is increasingly important to fully utilize solid waste(Gruhler et al.,2019;Anagnostopoulos et al.,2020;Jiang et al.,2022,2023a,2023b).With high strength and environment-friendly characteristics,incineration bottom ash(IBA)seems to be a suitable reinforcement material for CDG(Ahmed and Khalid,2011;Alhassan and Tankó,2012;Toraldo et al.,2013;Lynn et al.,2017;Xuan et al.,2018;Tang et al.,2020).

Introduction:Radon(222Rn or 222radon)is a radioactive gas emitted from building materials,foundations,and *** are especially susceptible to radon exposure,underscoring the need to assess indoor radon levels in *** study monitored radon concentrations in 37 Beijing kindergartens from June to October ***:A random sample of 37 kindergartens was selected from 18 administrative districts in *** indoor radon concentration was measured using the solid track accumulation method,with radon detectors continuously monitored over a 3-month ***:The mean indoor radon level in 37 kindergartens,observed at 252 monitoring points,was 84.3 Bq/m^(3),with values varying from 12.9 to 263.5 Bq/m^(3).About 20.2%of points showed radon levels between 100.0 and 200.0 Bq/m^(3),while 2.4%exceeded 200.0 Bq/m^(3).Notably,radon levels were significantly elevated on the ground floor compared to the upper ***:Indoor radon levels in 37 kindergartens remained below the national standard limit of 300.0 Bq/m^(3) for buildings(GB/T 16146-2015).Nonetheless,18.9%of the kindergartens exceeded the 100.0 Bq/m^(3) limit set for new *** is advised to improve radon monitoring in kindergartens and consider developing a national standard for maximum permissible radon levels in such facilities.
