E3 ligases are key enzymes required for protein ***,we identified a C3H2C3 RING domaincontaining E3 ubiquitin ligase gene named *** is preferentially and highly expressed in developing cotton fiber cells and shows greater conservation in plants than in animals or *** four orthologous copies of this gene in various diploid cottons and eight in the allotetraploid *** were found to have originated from a single common ancestor that can be traced back to Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at about 992 million years *** variations in the GhATL68b promoter regions of ***,***,***,and *** are correlated with significantly different methylation pat*** CRISPR-Cas9 knockout cotton lines exhibit significant reductions in fiber quality traits,including upper-half mean length,elongation at break,uniformity,and mature fiber *** vitro ubiquitination and cell-free protein degradation assays revealed that GhATL68b modulates the homeostasis of 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase,a rate-limiting enzyme for theβ-oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs),via the ubiquitin proteasome *** cells harvested from these knockout mutants contain significantly lower levels of PUFAs important for production of glycerophospholipids and regulation of plasma membrane *** fiber growth defects of the mutant can be fully rescued by the addition of linolenic acid(C18:3),the most abundant type of PUFA,to the ovule culture *** experimentally characterized C3H2C3 type E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in regulating fiber cell elongation may provide us with a new genetic target for improved cotton lint production.

Comparison of vergence mechanisms between university students with good and poor sleep quality

AIM:To compare the vergence mechanisms between good and poor sleepers in university ***:A total of 64 university students were recruited in this *** validated Malay version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire(PSQI-M)was used to measure the participants’sleep quality over the past *** were categorized as good sleepers(n=32)and poor sleepers(n=32)based on the PSQI-M *** and fusional vergences were measured at distance and ***-Whitney U test was used to compare heterophoria,negative fusional vergence(NFV),and positive fusional vergence(PFV)at distance and near between good and poor *** correlation analysis was used to study the relationship between PSQI-M score and PFV at ***:Both distance and near heterophorias were not significantly different between good and poor sleepers(P>0.05).There was a difference in distance PFV(P0.05).Distance PFV was negatively correlated with PSQI-M score(rs=-0.33,P<0.05).CONCLUSION:University students with poor sleep quality demonstrates a reduced ability to maintain fusion with increasing convergence demand at *** quality assessment during binocular vision examination in university students is recommended.

Mannogalactoglucan from mushrooms protects pancreatic islets via restoring UPR and promotes insulin secretion in TIDM mice

Type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM) lacks insulin secretion due to autoimmune deficiency of pancreaticβ-*** pancreatic islets and enhancing insulin secretion has been therapeutic *** is the main type of polysaccharide from natural mushroom,which has potential medicinal ***,the antidiabetic property of mannogalactoglucan in T1DM has not been fully *** this study,we obtained the neutral fraction of alkali-soluble Armillaria mellea polysaccharide(AAMP-N) with the structure of mannogalactoglucan from the fruiting body of *** and investigated the potential therapeutic value of AAMP-N in *** demonstrated that AAMP-N lowered blood glucose and improved diabetes symptoms in T1DM ***-N activated unfolded protein response(UPR) signaling pathway to maintain ER protein folding homeostasis and promote insulin secretion in *** that,AAMP-N promoted insulin synthesis via upregulating the expression of transcription factors,increased Ca^(2+) signals to stimulate intracellular insulin secretory vesicle transport via activating calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase Ⅱ(CamkⅡ) and cAMP/PKA signals,and enhanced insulin secretory vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane via vesicle-associated membrane protein 2(VAMP2).Collectively,these studies demonstrated that the therapeutic potential of AAMP-N on pancreatic islets function,indicating that mannogalactoglucan could be natural nutraceutical used for the treatment of T1DM.

Spontaneous Recovery in Directed Dynamical Networks

Complex networked systems,which range from biological systems in the natural world to infrastructure systems in the human-made world,can exhibit spontaneous recovery after a failure;for example,a brain may spontaneously return to normal after a seizure,and traffic flow can become smooth again after a *** studies on the spontaneous recovery of dynamical networks have been limited to undirected ***,most real-world networks are *** fill this gap,we build a model in which nodes may alternately fail and recover,and we develop a theoretical tool to analyze the recovery properties of directed dynamical *** find that the tool can accurately predict the final fraction of active nodes,and the prediction accuracy decreases as the fraction of bidirectional links in the network increases,which emphasizes the importance of directionality in network *** to different initial states,directed dynamical networks may show alternative stable states under the same control parameter,exhibiting hysteresis *** addition,for networks with finite sizes,the fraction of active nodes may jump back and forth between high and low states,mimicking repetitive failure-recovery *** findings could help clarify the system recovery mechanism and enable better design of networked systems with high resilience.

Materials with kagome lattices have attracted significant research attention due to their nontrivial features in energy *** theoretically investigate the evolution of electronic band structures of kagome lattices in response to uniaxial strain using both a tight-binding model and an antidot model based on a periodic muffin-tin *** is found that the Dirac points move with applied ***,the flat band of unstrained kagome lattices is found to develop into a highly anisotropic shape under a stretching strain along y direction,forming a partially flat band with a region dispersionless along ky direction while dispersive along kx *** results shed light on the possibility of engineering the electronic band structures of kagome materials by mechanical strain.

Previous studies on genetic diseases predominantly focused on protein-coding variations, overlooking the vast noncoding regions in the human genome. The development of high-throughput sequencing technologies and functional genomics tools has enabled the systematic identification of functional noncoding variants. These variants can impact gene expression, regulation, and chromatin conformation, thereby contributing to disease pathogenesis. Understanding the mechanisms that underlie the impact of noncoding variants on genetic diseases is indispensable for the development of precisely targeted therapies and the implementation of personalized medicine strategies. The intricacies of noncoding regions introduce a multitude of challenges and research opportunities. In this review, we introduce a spectrum of noncoding variants involved in genetic diseases, along with research strategies and advanced technologies for their precise identification and in-depth understanding of the complexity of the noncoding genome. We will delve into the research challenges and propose potential solutions for unraveling the genetic basis of rare and complex diseases.
