Sphingosine-1-phosphate（S1P） is a bioactive lipid messenger in the cells that regulate gene expression and NF-κB signal pathway through unknown ***,Cheng Luo,associate professor of DDDC in Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica,whose project was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China,joined in a research team led by Professor Sarah Spiegel of Virginia Commonwealth *** team continuously made significant breakthroughs in understanding the regulation mechanism of Sphingosine-1- *** September 2009,in a paper published on SCIENCE magazine（Science 2009, 325：1254-7）,they firstly demonstrated that S1P is a physiologically important regulator of histone deacetylases（HDACs）,HDACs are direct intracellular targets of ***,they identified the mechanism that S1P regulates gene expression through regulating the activity of *** June 24th,2010,in another paper to be published on NATURE magazine（Nature 2010,June 24th,advance online publication,（doi：10.1038/ nature09128）） which reports the regulation of NF-κB signaling pathway by *** demonstrate that S1P is the missing cofactor for TRAF2（tumour-necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 2） and indicate a new paradigm for the regulation of lysine-63- linked *** study also highlight the key role of SphK1 and its product S1P in TNF-αsignalling and the canonical NF-κB activation pathway, and then play crucial role in inflammatory,antiapoptotic and immune *** identification of new mechanisms fay which S1P regulates gene expression and TNF and NF-κB signaling pathway will light up the road to develop novel inhibitors that might be useful for treatment of cancer and in- flammatory diseases.

在过去几十年中,将二氧化碳光还原转化为有用的化学燃料(甲烷、一氧化碳和甲醇等)受到了极大的关注.然而,由于光生电荷的复合速度快,二氧化碳和水分子的共吸附不足,目前的二氧化碳光还原系统的效率还远远不能令人满意.本文报道了在疏水碳纤维纸上构建一个紧密的二维/二维石墨相氮化碳@碘氧铋梯型(S型)异质结,用于高效的二氧化碳光还原.所制备的异质结具有良好的一氧化碳选择性(77.8%)和活性(458.0μmol h^(-1)m^(-2)).良好的光催化性能归因于良好设计的S型异质结结构,提高了电荷分离效率,以及形成了气-液-固三相界面,充分保证了二氧化碳和水的同时供给.这项工作为高效光催化二氧化碳还原系统的设计提供了新思路.

Enhanced nonlinearity for filamentation in gold-nanoparticle-doped water

We report a universal approach based on the surface plasmon resonances(SPRs) attained in filamentation in water doped with gold nanoparticles for enhancing the nonlinear refractive index. The filament-induced supercontinuum spectrum in water overlaps with SPRs of gold nanospheres, which further leads to a modification on the Kerr nonlinear refractive index. In our experiment, the measured nonlinear refractive index(n_2) in water doped with gold nanoparticles increases by six times, as compared with that in pure water. Such enhancement may be useful for filament-induced nonlinear applications with modest incident intensity.

Simulation and prediction of membrane fusion dynamics

Membrane fusion is an important process by which biological membranes perform their life activities. Simulations show that the membrane fusion process happens mainly through three pathways, where the Stalk-Pore hypothesis, in which two membranes come into close contact to form a stalk to a hemifusion intermediate, and then the fusion pore opens to achieve completely fusion, is widely accepted, and there exist two free energy barriers that break the current structural steady state for lipid rearrangement. Factors of lipid composition, mechanical environment, protein and ion have regulatory roles in the membrane fusion process by effecting membrane curvature structurally and the free energy barriers from energetic perspective. Meanwhile, many theoretical models, represented by the Helfrich model, have been proposed to predict the membrane fusion process. In this paper, we review the research process of membrane fusion and mainly introduce the dynamics of membrane fusion, regulation factors and typical theoretical models.

Biodiversity metrics on ecological networks: Demonstrated with animal gastrointestinal microbiomes

Biodiversity has become a terminology familiar to virtually every citizen in modern *** is said that ecology studies the economy of nature,and economy studies the ecology of humans;then measuring biodiversity should be similar with measuring national ***,there have been many parallels between ecology and economics,actually beyond *** example,arguably the second most widely used biodiversity metric,Simpson(1949)’s diversity index,is a function of familiar Gini-index in *** of the biggest challenges has been the high“diversity”of diversity indexes due to their excessive“speciation”-there are so many indexes,similar to each country’s sovereign currency-leaving confused diversity practitioners in *** 1973,Hill introduced the concept of“numbers equivalent”,which is based on Renyi entropy and originated in economics,but possibly due to his abstruse interpretation of the concept,his message was not widely received by ecologists until nearly four decades *** Hill suggested was similar to link the US dollar to gold at the rate of$35 per ounce under the Bretton Woods *** Hill numbers now are considered most appropriate biodiversity metrics system,unifying Shannon,Simpson and other diversity ***,we approach to another paradigmatic shift-measuring biodiversity on ecological networks-demonstrated with animal gastrointestinal microbiomes representing four major invertebrate classes and all six vertebrate *** network diversity can reveal the diversity of species interactions,which is a necessary step for understanding the spatial and temporal structures and dynamics of biodiversity across environmental gradients.

Enhancing Precision in Radiotherapy delivery: Validating Monte Carlo Simulation Models for 6 MV Elekta Synergy Agility LINAC Photon Beam Using Two Models of the GAMOS Code

The most crucial requirement in radiation therapy treatment planning is a fast and accurate treatment planning system that minimizes damage to healthy tissues surrounding cancer cells. The use of Monte Carlo toolkits has become indispensable for research aimed at precisely determining the dose in radiotherapy. Among the numerous algorithms developed in recent years, the GAMOS code, which utilizes the Geant4 toolkit for Monte Carlo simula-tions, incorporates various electromagnetic physics models and multiple scattering models for simulating particle interactions with matter. This makes it a valuable tool for dose calculations in medical applications and throughout the patient’s volume. The aim of this present work aims to vali-date the GAMOS code for the simulation of a 6 MV photon-beam output from the Elekta Synergy Agility linear accelerator. The simulation involves mod-eling the major components of the accelerator head and the interactions of the radiation beam with a homogeneous water phantom and particle information was collected following the modeling of the phase space. This space was po-sitioned under the X and Y jaws, utilizing three electromagnetic physics mod-els of the GAMOS code: Standard, Penelope, and Low-Energy, along with three multiple scattering models: Goudsmit-Saunderson, Urban, and Wentzel-VI. The obtained phase space file was used as a particle source to simulate dose distributions (depth-dose and dose profile) for field sizes of 5 × 5 cm2 and 10 × 10 cm2 at depths of 10 cm and 20 cm in a water phantom, with a source-surface distance (SSD) of 90 cm from the target. We compared the three electromagnetic physics models and the three multiple scattering mod-els of the GAMOS code to experimental results. Validation of our results was performed using the gamma index, with an acceptability criterion of 3% for the dose difference (DD) and 3 mm for the distance-to-agreement (DTA). Iron-Mediated Oxidative DNA Damage Detected by Fluorometric Analysis of DNA Unwinding in Isolated Rat Liver Nuclei

Studies were performed to determine the extent of nuclear DNA degradation induced by iron, iron-ascorbate, or iron-bleomycin under aerobic conditions in a model system using isolated rat liver nuclei. The effects of five antioxidants (catalase, superoxide dismutase, dimethyl sulfoxide, glutathione and diallyl sulfide) on this oxidative nuclear damage were also investigated. At the 0.05 level for statistical significance, iron induced concentration-dependent DNA degradation, and this effect was enhanced by ascorbate and bleomycin. The antioxidants catalase, dimethyl sulfoxide, and diallyl sulfide significantly reduced the iron-ascorbate-induced DNA damage, whereas superoxide dismutase and dimethyl sulfoxide significantly reduced iron-bleomycin-induced damage. Glutathione significantly increased the iron-bleomycin-induced DNA damage. These results suggest that the reactive oxygen species generated by iron, iron-ascorbate, and iron-bleomycin are responsible for the DNA strand breaks in isolated rat liver nuclei.

Optimal Scheduling of Distribution system with Edge Computing and Data-driven Modeling of Demand Response
