A study of the potential adverse effects of electrosurgical smoke on medical staff during malignant tumor surgery

Status and prospect of garnet/polymer solid composite electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium batteries

Solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs), such as polyethylene oxide(PEO), are characteristic of good flexibility and excellent processability, but they suffer from low ionic conductivity and small Li+transference number at ambient temperature. Inorganic solid electrolytes(ISEs), garnet-type Li7La3Zr2O12 and its derivatives(LLZO-based) in particular, possess high ionic conductivity at room temperature, wide electrochemical stability window, large Li+transference number as well as good stability against Li metal ***, lithium dendrites growth, interfacial contact issue and brittle nature of LLZO-based ceramic electrolytes prevent their practical applications. In response to these shortcomings, LLZO-based/polymer solid composite electrolytes(SCEs), taking complementary advantages of two kinds of electrolytes, and thus simultaneously improving the electrode wettability, ionic conductivity and mechanical strength, have been made to develop high-performance SCEs in recent years. Herein, the intrinsic properties and research progress of LLZO-based/polymer SCEs, including LLZO-based/PEO SCEs(LLZO-based/PEO SCEs with uniform dispersion of LLZO-based fillers and LLZO-based/PEO layered SCEs) and LLZO-based/novel polymers SCEs, are summarized. Besides, comprehensive updates on their applications in solid-state batteries are also presented. Finally, challenges and perspectives of LLZO-based/polymer SCEs for advanced allsolid-state lithium batteries(ASSLBs) are suggested. This review paper aims to provide systematic research progress of LLZO-based/polymer SCEs, to allow for more efficient and target-oriented research on improving LLZO-based/polymer SCEs.

Changes in plaque stability, cell apoptosis and coagulation indexes after patients with unstable angina pectoris accept adjuvant salvianolate therapy

Objective:To investigate the effect of adjuvant salvianolate therapy on plaque stability, cell apoptosis and coagulation indexes in patients with unstable angina ***: 92 patients with unstable angina pectoris treated in our hospital between May 2011 and August 2015 were collected, and after the treatment process and auxiliary examination results were retrospectively analyzed, they were divided into the control group (n=45) who accepted conventional treatment and the observation group (n=47) who accepted adjuvant salvianolate treatment. Before and after treatment, diasonograph was used to evaluate the plaque stability parameters of two groups of patients;ELISA was used to detect apoptosis-related molecule levels;immunoturbidimetry was used to detect blood coagulation ***: Before treatment, differences in plaque stability parameters, cell apoptosis molecules and coagulation indexes were not statistically significant between two groups of patients (P>0.05). After treatment, the plaque stability parameters plaque thickness, enhanced intensity, rise time and time to peak of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group (Pcell apoptosis and improve the coagulation function in patients with unstable angina pectoris.

Calcium signaling in cholangiocytes

Cytosolic Ca^2＋ is an important second messenger in virtually every type of cell. Moreover, Ca^2＋ generally regulates multiple activities within individual cells. This article reviews the cellular machinery that is responsible for Ca^2＋ signaling in cholangiocytes. In addition, two Ca^2＋-mediated events in cholangiocytes are discussed： bicarbonate secretion and apoptosis. Finally, emerging evidence is reviewed that Ca^2＋ signaling is involved in the pathogenesis of diseases affecting the biliary tree and that Ca^2＋ signaling pathways can be manipulated to therapeutic advantage in the treatment of cholestatic disorders.

Use of donor-specific red blood cell transfusions for patients undergoing liver transplantation during the COVID-19 pandemic

Background:Increased risks have been found for patients undergoing liver transplantation due to the blood supply shortage following the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)***,exploring a method to alleviate this dilemma is *** phase I,nonrandomized,prospective trial aimed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of using donor-specific red blood cell transfusion(DRBCT)as an urgent measurement to alleviate the blood supply shortage in deceased donor liver transplantation(DDLT).Methods:The outcomes of 26 patients who received DRBCT and 37 patients in the control group who only received 3rd party packed red blood cells(pRBCs)transfusion between May 2020 and January 2021 were ***:Patients receiving DRBCT did not develop transfusion-related complications,and the incidence of postoperative infection was similar to that in the control group(23.1%vs.18.9%,P=0.688).Because the patients received the red blood cells from organ donors,the median volume of intraoperative allogeneic red blood cell transfusion from blood bank was 4.0 U(IQR 1.1-8.0 U)in the DRBCT group,which is significantly lower than that(7.5 U,IQR 4.0-10.0 U)in the control group(P=0.018).The peak aspartate aminotransferase(AST)level was significantly lower in the DRBCT group than in the control group(P=0.008)and so were the AST levels in the first two days after the operation(P=0.006 and P=0.033).Conclusions:DRBCT is a safe and effective procedure to lower the need for blood supply and is associated with a reduction in AST levels after *** is beneficial to patients receiving life-saving transplantation without sufficient blood supply during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In vitro effect of iASPP on cell growth of oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma

iASPP is an inhibitory member of the apoptosis-stimulating proteins of P53 （ASPP） family. iASPP is over expressed in several malignant tumors and potentially affects cancer progression. However, the expression and potential role of iASPP in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma （OTSCC） have not been addressed. In our study, we detected iASPP expression in OTSCC by immunohistochemistry, iASPP expression is up-regulated in OTSCC tissues. Moreover, in clinical pathology specimens, we found that increased iASPP expression correlates with poor differentiation and lymph node metastasis. Using multicellular tumor spheroids （MTS） and flow cytometry, we demonstrated that iASPP down-regulation arrests OTSCC cells at the G0/G1 phase, induces OTSCC cell apoptosis and inhibits OTSCC cell proliferation. These results indicate that iASPP plays a significant role in the progression of OTSCC and may serve as a biomarker or therapeutic target for OTSCC patients.

Distribution of phosphorylated Elk-1 in rat brain after Y-maze active avoidance training in a temporal manner

BACKGROUND： Elk-1 mRNA distributes extensively in the neurons of mice, rat and human brains, and the Elk-1 expression may be correlated with the synaptic plasticity, learning and memory. OBJECTIVE： To observe the distribution of phosphorylated Elk-1 （pEIk-1） in whole brain of rats received Y-maze active avoidance training and the changes of pEIk-1 expression at different time points after training. DESIGN ： A randomized controlled study SETTING ： Research room of Neurobiology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University MATERIALS ： Fifty-five male clean-degree SD rats of 3-4 months old, weighing 200-250 g, were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Southem Medical University. The rabbit anti-monoclonal pEIk-1 antibody was purchased from cell Signal Transduction Company, and ABC kit from Vector Company. METHODS ： The experiments were carried out in the Research room of Neurobiology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University from September 2004 to February 2005. ① Grouping： The rats were randomly divided into training group （n = 25）, sham-training group （n = 25） and normal control group （n = 5）, and the training and sham-training groups were observed at 0, 1, 3, 6 and 24 hours after training, which represented the five phases in the process of leaming and memory. ② Y-maze training： The rats were preconditioned in the electrical Y-maze apparatus, 20 minutes a day for 3 days continuously, and training began from the 4^th day. In the training group, the rats were trained with the combination of light and electddty. Each rat repeated for 60 times in each training, and the correct times were recorded, those correct for less than 25 times were taken as unqualified, and excluded from the training group, and supplemented by other rats in time. In the sham-training group, there was no fixed correlation between the application of light and electricity. The rats in the normal contrel group were given not any training. ③Detection of pEIk-
