Liposarcoma is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas,however,its occurrence rate is still rare compared to other *** to its rarity,in vitro experiments are an essential approach to elucidate liposarcoma *** cell culture-based research(2D cell culture)is still playing a pivotal role,while several shortcomings have been recently under *** vivo,mouse models are usually adopted for pre-clinical analyses with expectations to overcome the issues of 2D cell ***,they do not fully recapitulate human dedifferentiated liposarcoma(DDLPS)***,three-dimensional(3D)culture systems have been the recent research focus in the cell biology field with the expectation to overcome at the same time the disadvantages of 2D cell culture and in vivo animal models and fill in the gap between *** the liposarcoma rarity,we believe that 3D cell culture techniques,including 3D cell cultures/co-cultures,and Patient-Derived tumor Organoids(PDOs),represent a promising approach to facilitate liposarcoma investigation and elucidate its molecular mechanisms and effective therapy *** this review,we first provide a general overview of 3D cell cultures compared to 2D cell *** then focus on one of the recent 3D cell culture applications,Patient-Derived Organoids(PDOs),summarizing and discussing several PDO ***,we discuss the current and future applications of PDOs to sarcoma,particularly in the field of liposarcoma.

Versatile chiroptical induction/manipulation through specific solvation of ion pairs by alcohols

While extensive research has explored manipulating supramolecular chirality through internal and external factors,the specific solvation effect remains uncharted *** study synthesized ortho-functionalized pillar[5]arene(P[5])derivatives Mn and Dn via thiol-Michael addition,characterizing them through spectroscopic and X-ray single-crystal *** and Dn interacted with chiral amines,yielding significant circular dichroism(CD)***,the chiral induction exhibited pronounced specific solvation effects,where achiral alcohols either enhanced,attenuated,or reversed CD *** over 40 alcohols revealed correlations between the specific solvation effects and alcohol polarity and *** dynamics simulations unveiled that the alcohol interacted distinctly through hydrogen bonding,with one ion pair bonding up to four alcohol *** Rp-and Sp-preference of the P[5]core could be altered by the number of bonded *** work uncovers the critical role of alcohol-specific solvation in ion pair-involved chiral assembly,pertinent for asymmetric ion-pairing catalysis and the use of alcohol additives in organic solvents.

Breast cancer (BC) is now the most common cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer-associated mortality among women in China1. Germline pathogenic variants (PVs) of BC susceptibility genes, such as the well-known BRCA1/2 genes, increase the risk of BC and other cancers (ovarian and pancreatic cancer)2,3. Recent studies have demonstrated substantial benefits of poly (adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase inhibitors in the treatment of BC patients who carry BRCA1/2 PVs4.

Weathering Process of Parent Material and Accumulation Process of Organic Carbon on the Black Soil Profile:A case Study from the Keshan Area of the Songnen Plain in Northeast China

Black soil is essential for maintaining regional food security and promoting global agricultural *** the weathering process of parent material and the accumulation of organic carbon is crucial to comprehending the developmental history and future trends of black soil,especially against the background of large-scale global cultivation and climate *** the importance of black soil formation and evolution cannot be ignored,the relevant research is still very *** this study,a typical eight-meter-deep soil core was collected from the Keshan area of the Songnen Plain,Northeast China,where surface black soil developed on ***^(14)C dating,the formation age of the black soil was *** on the characteristics of the geochemical composition,grain size and the magnetic susceptibility of the sediments,it was demonstrated that the black soil and its parent material originated from reworked ***,the mass transfer coefficient(τ)of some elements was determined,in order to explore the soil weathering *** calculating the transported amount of alkaline and alkaline-earth elements,the weathering rate of parent material to black soil was found to be weak,at 0.16 kEq·ha^(-1)·year^(-1).Combining the results of dating and carbon density in the different layers of black soil,the accumulation rate of organic carbon was determined as follows:rapidly increasing in the initial period of 13.2-2.2 ka,reaching its maximum average value of 34.0 g·cm^(-2)·a^(-1)at 2.2-0.8 ka,then showing a decreasing trend with an average value of-77.5 g·cm^(-2)·a^(-1).Compared with regional climate change,Keshan black soil has developed under a colder and wetter climate during the ***,ongoing global warming may lead to the degradation of black soils in the Songnen Plain,as well as in other *** results will enrich geological knowledge of black soil formation and future evolutionary trends.

Development and validation of a nomogram prediction model for overall survival in patients with rectal cancer

BACKGROUND Rectal cancer is prevalent and associated with substantial morbidity and *** To develop a nomogram prediction model for overall survival(OS)in patients with rectal cancer by leveraging a comprehensive analysis of demographic,clinicopathological,haematological,and follow-up data to identify independent prognostic *** We conducted a prospective cohort study in China involving rectal cancer patients and applied Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression to assess the significance of various variables as independent prognostic factors for *** identified factors were integrated into a nomogram model,which was evaluated for predictive accuracy via the C-index,area under the curve(AUC),calibration curve,and decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS Multivariate analysis revealed independent predictors of OS,including the Karnofsky performance status,age,sex,TNM stage,chemotherapy,surgery,targeted therapy,β2-microglobulin,lactate dehydrogenase,and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte *** nomogram demonstrated a C-index of 0.80 for the training and validation cohorts,with AUC values indicating high predictive accuracy for 1-year,3-year,and 5-year *** calibration curves confirmed the model's excellent agreement with the observed survival rates,and DCA revealed the superior clinical utility of the nomogram over the TNM staging *** In this study,a novel prognostic model that accurately predicts the OS of rectal cancer patients was *** model exhibited excellent discriminatory and calibration capabilities,thus offering a reliable tool for health care professionals to estimate patient survival.

Ingenious construction of a magnetic-recyclable photo-Fenton catalyst ZnFe_(2)O_(4)@MIL-88A(Fe)and its adsorption-degradation activity toward levofloxacin

Monotonic pore size and particles inseparability of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)caused serious effects on its light absorption ability and charge separation,restricting its application for antibiotic such as levofloxacin(LEV)degradation in *** this study,a magnetically detachable nano-photocatalyst(ZnFe_(2)O_(4)@MIL-88A(Fe))was synthesized using a simple two-step hydrothermal *** morphology and microstructure analyses showed that n-type ZnFe_(2)O_(4)catalyst particleswere efficiently assembled onto the surface of MIL-88A(Fe)*** activity studies indicated that the ZnFe_(2)O_(4)@MIL-88A(Fe)plus H_(2)O_(2)exhibiting a significantly boosted photo-Fenton activity toward LEV at visible light irradiation,compared to the pure ZnFe_(2)O_(4)and MIL-88A(Fe),the degradation efficiency accordingly reached up to nearly 82%and 25%within 60 *** excellent photocatalytic performance was ascribed to the synergistic effects of the heterogeneous structure of ZnFe_(2)O_(4)and MIL-88A(Fe),whereby the efficient separation of charge carriers in the catalytic system is mutually reinforced with the efficient reduction of Fe^(3+)and Fe^(2+).Meanwhile,the degradationmechanism and intermediates of LEV during the photo-Fenton reaction process were also studied in depth through free radical burst,electron paramagnetic resonance,and mass spectrometry analyses,***,the ZnFe_(2)O_(4)@MIL-88A(Fe)composite catalyst displayed significant stability and ease of separation,indicating potential for the photooxidative degradation of organic pollutants.

Spiking Reinforcement Learning Enhanced by Bioinspired Event Source of Multi-dendrite Spiking Neuron and Dynamic Thresholds

Deep reinforcement learning(DRL) achieves success through the representational capabilities of deep neural networks(DNNs). Compared to DNNs, spiking neural networks(SNNs),known for their binary spike information processing, exhibit more biological characteristics. However, the challenge of using SNNs to simulate more biologically characteristic neuronal dynamics to optimize decision-making tasks remains, directly related to the information integration and transmission in *** by the advanced computational power of dendrites in biological neurons, we propose a multi-dendrite spiking neuron(MDSN) model based on Multi-compartment spiking neurons(MCN), expanding dendrite types from two to multiple and deriving the analytical solution of somatic membrane *** apply the MDSN to deep distributional reinforcement learning to enhance its performance in executing complex decisionmaking tasks. The proposed model can effectively and adaptively integrate and transmit meaningful information from different sources. Our model uses a bioinspired event-enhanced dendrite structure to emphasize features. Meanwhile, by utilizing dynamic membrane potential thresholds, it adaptively maintains the homeostasis of MDSN. Extensive experiments on Atari games show that the proposed model outperforms some state-of-the-art spiking distributional RL models by a significant margin.

Development and Application of Cavity-based Absorption Spectroscopy in Atmospheric Chemistry:Recent Progress

Atmospheric chemistry research and atmospheric measurement techniques have mutually promoted each other and developed rapidly in China in recent years. Cavity-based absorption spectroscopy, which uses a high-finesse cavity to achieve very long absorption path-length, thereby achieving ultra-high detection sensitivity, plays an extremely important role in atmospheric chemistry research. Based on the Beer–Lambert law, this technology has the unique advantages of being non-destructive, chemical-free, and highly selective. It does not require any sample preparation and can quantitatively analyze atmospheric trace gases in real time and in situ. In this paper, we review the following:(1) key technological advances in different cavity-based absorption spectroscopy techniques, including cavity ring-down spectroscopy, cavityenhanced absorption spectroscopy, cavity attenuated phase shift spectroscopy, and their extensions; and(2) applications of these techniques in the detection of atmospheric reactive species, such as total peroxy radical, formaldehyde, and reactive nitrogen(e.g., NOx, HONO, peroxy nitrates, and alkyl nitrates). The review systematically introduces cavity-based absorption spectroscopy techniques and their applications in atmospheric chemistry, which will help promote further communication and cooperation in the fields of laser spectroscopy and atmospheric chemistry.
