The effects of cryogenic treatment（CT） and tempering-cryogenic treatment（TCT） on the microstructure and properties of coarse-grained WC-10Co cemented carbides with different carbon contents were researched.The binder phase,WC mean grain sizes,W solubility in the binder,relative magnetic s aturation,densities,hardness,wear resistance and second phase precipitation of cemented carbides with different heat treatments were discussed.The results show that there are significant changes of microstructure and properties in the samples with CT and TCT,especially due to the precipitation of metastable nanoparticles WxCoyCzin the binder during the heat treatments of CT and TCT.With the simultaneous combination of microstructure and nanoparticle-reinforced binder,a dramatically improved combination of hardness and wear resistance of the samples after TCT has been achieved.

Although inorganic pigments in common spectral tuning materials show good weatherability and heat resistance,the limited color choices,weak coloring power,poor dispersibility,and a possibility of toxicity limit their development.On the basis of organic pigments which possess a wide range of colors,high coloring power,good transparency,and high safety,herein,the modified pigment and biomimetic coating with improved weatherability,especially ultraviolet(UV) resistance(from 2 to 6 days),was achieved by intercalating acid green 25(AG25) pigment into Mg/Al-layered double hydroxides(Mg/Al-LDH).Furthermore,the heat resistance of AG25 was also significantly increased.Moreover,the spectral stability of pigments after heat treatment is superior with almost unchanged spectral profile and green reflection peak.The formation of strong N-H bonds and the S-M(Mg,Al)bonds between Mg/Al-LDH laminates and AG25 molecules contributes to the improvement.This work shows potential for biomimetic leaf materials in respect of reflective spectra stability.

Calcium-ion batteries（CIBs） have generated intense interest due to the growing demand for safer,cheaper,and large-scale energy storage systems.However,their development is still in its infancy,owing to the lack of suitable cathodes for sustaining reversiblc Ca2+intercalation/deintercalation.Herein,layered H2V3O8（HVO） with Zn2+pre-insertion（ZHVO） is reported as a high-rate and highly durable cathode material for CIBs.The existence of Zn2+and H2O pillars could expand the interlayer spacing up to 1.8 nm,which is favorable for the diffusion of bulky Ca2+.The formation of Zn-O bonds facilitates electron transfer and enhances electrical conduction.Consequently,the ZHVO cathode achieves superior capacity performance(213.9 mAh·g-1at 0.2 A·g-1) and long lifespan(78.3% for 1,000 cycles at 5 A·g-1) compared to pristine HVO.Density functional theory（DFT） calculations revealed that Zn2+moved during Ca2+intercalation,thereby reducing the diffusion energy barrier and facilitating Ca2+diffusion.Finally,a safe aqueous calcium ion cell was successfully assembled.

Porous intermetallics show potential in the field of filtration and separation as well as in the field of catalysis.Herein,porous Ti Fe2intermetallics were fabricated by the reactive synthesis of elemental powders.The phase transformation and pore formation of porous TiFe2intermetallics were investigated,and its corrosion behavior and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance in alkali solution were studied.Porous TiFe2intermetallics with porosity in the range of 34.4%-56.4%were synthesized by the diffusion reaction of Ti and Fe elements,and the pore formation of porous TiFe2intermetallic compound is the result of a combination of the bridging effect and the Kirkendall effect.The porous TiFe2samples exhibit better corrosion resistance compared with porous 316L stainless steel,which is related to the formation of uniform nanosheets on the surface that hinder further corrosion,and porous TiFe2electrode shows the overpotential of 220.6 and 295.6 mV at 10 and 100 mA·cm-2,suggesting a good catalytic performance.The synthesized porous Fe-based intermetallic has a controllable pore structure as well as excellent corrosion resistance,showing its potential in the field of filtration and separation.

The deformation mechanisms and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)behavior of specifically grown bicrystals with a symmetric 90°and 90°tilt grain boundary,respectively,were investigated under deformation in plane strain compression at 200℃and 400℃.The microstructures were analyzed by panoramic optical microscopy and large-area electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)orientation mapping.The analysis employed a meticulous approach utilizing hundreds of individual,small EBSD maps with a small step size that were stitched together to provide comprehensive access to orientation and misorientation data on a macroscopic scale.Basal slip primarily governed the early stages of deformation at the two temperatures,and the resulting shear induced lattice rotation around the transverse direction(TD)of the sample.The existence of the grain boundary gave rise to dislocation pile-up in its vicinity,leading to much larger TD-lattice rotations within the boundary region compared to the bulk.With increasing temperature,the deformation was generally more uniform towards the bulk due to enhanced dislocation mobility and more uniform stress distribution.Dynamic recrystallization at 200℃was initiated in{1011}-compression twins at strains of 40%and higher.At 400℃,DRX consumed the entire grain boundary region and gradually replaced the deformed microstructure with progressing deformation.The recrystallized grains displayed characteristic orientations,such that their c-axes were perpendicular to the TD and additionally scattered between 0°and 60°from the loading axis.These recrystallized grains displayed mutual rotations of up to 30°around the c-axes of the initial grains,forming a discernible basal fiber texture component,prominently visible in the{1120}pole figure.It is noteworthy that the deformation and DRX behaviors of the two analyzed bicrystals exhibited marginal variations in response to strain and deformation temperature.

Fluorite-structured oxides constitute an important category of oxides with a wide range of high-temperature applications.Following the concept of high entropy,high-entropy fluorite oxides(HEFOs)have showcased intriguing high-temperature application potential.However,unlocking this potential necessitates an assessment of their long-term stability under high-temperature conditions.In this study,we conducted a prolonged heat treatment at 1000℃on typical HEFO,specifically(CeHfZrGdLa)O_(x).After 100 h,high-intensity X-ray diffraction(XRD)revealed a transition from a single-phase fluorite to a multi-phase configuration.Further investigation by analytical electron microscoy(AEM)demonstrated that this degradation resulted from facilitated element diffusion and consequent escalating chemical fluctuation at high temperatures,leading to spontaneous segregation and separation of Ce and La elements,forming Ce-rich,La-poor,and La-rich phases.Notably,the La-rich phase spontaneously transformed from a fluorite structure(space group Fm3m)to a bixbyite structure(space group Ia3)at elevated temperatures,resulting in the appearance of superstructure reflection in XRD profiles and electron diffraction patterns.Despite the intricate phase decomposition,the energy band gap showed minimal variation,suggesting potential property stability of(CeHfZrGdLa)O_(x)across a broad range of compositions.These findings offer valuable insights into the future applications of HEFOs.

Because of its high mobility and difficult capture,gaseous arsenic pollution control has become the focus of arsenic pollution control.It mainly exists in the form of highly toxic As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas.Therefore,removing gaseous As_(2)O_(3)from flue gas is of great practical significance for arsenic pollution control.Stabilizing gaseous As_(2)O_(3)on the surface of adsorbents by physical or chemical adsorption is an effective way to reduce the content of arsenic in the flue gas and alleviate arsenic pollution.Over the past few decades,various adsorbents have been developed to capture gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,and their adsorption mechanisms have been studied in detail.Thus,it is necessary to review the strategies of arsenic removal from flue gas by adsorption,which can inspire further research.Based on summarizing the morphological distribution of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,this review further summarizes the removal of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)by several adsorbents and the effect of temperature and the main components of the flue gas on arsenic adsorption.In addition,the mechanism of arsenic removal based on adsorption in the flue gas is discussed in depth through theoretical calculations,which is the particular focus of this review.Finally,prospects based on the present research state of arsenic removal by adsorption are proposed to provide ideas for developing effective and stable adsorbents for arsenic removal from flue gas.

Enhancing oxidation resistance of multicomponent carbides above 2000℃is critical for their thermal protection applications.For this purpose,novel Nb-and Ta-doped(Hf,Zr,Ti)C multicomponent carbides were designed to improve their oxidation resistance at 2500℃.The results demonstrated that Nb and Ta doping reduced the oxidation rate constant by 16.67%and 25.17%,respectively,thereby significantly improving the oxidation resistance of(Hf,Zr,Ti)C.This enhancement was attributed to the changes in oxycarbide composition and distribution within the oxide layer by adding Nb and Ta.Owing to the different oxidation tendencies of the constituent elements,a distinctive structure was formed in which(Hf,Zr)O_(2)served as a skeleton,and various oxycarbides were dispersed throughout the oxide layer.The doped Nb and Ta were retained within oxycarbides,retarding the diffusion of oxygen into the lattice.More importantly,the addition of Nb and Ta reduced the size of oxycarbides,decreasing both size and quantity of the pores in the oxide layer and facilitating the formation of a more effective oxygen barrier.

A new two-step spark plasma sintering(TSS)process with low-temperature pre-sintering and high-temperature final sintering has been successfully applied to prepare the tungsten-particle(Wp)-reinforced bulk metallic glass composites(Wp/BMGCs).Compared to normal spark plasma sintering(NS),the densification rate and relative density of Wp/BMGCs can be improved by selecting TSS with appropriate sintering pressure in the low temperature pre-sintering stage.However,the compressive strength and plastic strain of 30%Wp/BMGCs prepared by TSS are both higher than those of the samples prepared by NS.The TSS process can significantly enhance the compressive strength of 30%Wp/BMGCs by 12% and remarkably increase the plastic strain by 50%,while the trend is completely opposite for 50%Wp/BMGCs.Quasi-in situ experiments and finite element simulations reveal that uneven temperature distribution among particles during low-temperature pre-sintering causes local overheating at contact points between particles,accelerating formation of sintering neck between particles and plastic deformation of Wp.When the volume fraction of Wp is low,TSS can improve the interface bonding between particles by increasing the number of sintering necks.This makes the fracture mode of Wp/BMGCs being predominantly transgranular fracture.However,as the volume fraction of Wp increases,the adverse effects of Wp plastic deformation are becoming more and more prominent.The aggregated Wp tends to form a solid "cage structure" that hinders the bonding between particles at the interface;correspondingly,the fracture behavior of Wp/BMGCs is mainly dominated by intergranular fracture.Additionally,reducing the sintering pressure during the low-temperature pre-sintering stage of TSS has been shown to effectively decrease plastic deformation in Wp,resulting in a higher degree of densification and better mechanical properties.

As a promising anode material for magnesium ion rechargeable batteries,magnesium metavanadate(MgV_(2)O_(6))has attracted considerable research interest in recent years.A MgV_(2)O_(6)sample was synthesized via a facile solid-state reaction by multistep-firing stoichiometric mixtures of MgO and V2O5 powder under an air atmosphere.The solid-state phase transition fromα-MgV_(2)O_(6)toβ-MgV_(2)O_(6)occurred at 841 K and the enthalpy change was 4.37±0.04 kJ/mol.The endothermic effect at 1014 K and the enthalpy change was 26.54±0.26 kJ/mol,which is related to the incongruent melting ofβ-MgV_(2)O_(6).In situ XRD was performed to investigate phase transition of the as-prepared MgV_(2)O_(6)at high temperatures.The cell parameters obtained by Rietveld refinement indicated that it crystallizes in a monoclinic system with the C2/m space group,and the lattice parameters of a=9.280 A°,b=3.501 A°,c=6.731 A°,β=111.76°.The solid-state phase transition fromα-MgV_(2)O_(6)toβ-MgV_(2)O_(6)was further studied by thermal kinetics,indicating that this process is controlled first by a fibril-like mechanism and then by a spherulitic-type mechanism with an increasing heating rate.Additionally,the enthalpy change of MgV_(2)O_(6)at high temperatures was measured utilizing the drop calorimetry,heat capacity was calculated and given as:Cp=208.3+0.03583T-4809000T^(−2)(298-923 K)(J mol^(−1)K^(−1)),the high-temperature heat capacity can be used to calculate Gibbs free energy of MgV_(2)O_(6)at high temperatures.
