The safety of large structures requires adequate foundations, which implies a good knowledge of the geological and geotechnical conditions of the respective ground. In general, that is only possible through engineering geological studies which include proper site investigation techniques, adapted to the nature of the ground (rock mass or soil) and to the associated engineering problems. The paper illustrates the studies carried out for the design of the foundations of Ribeiradio 76 m high concrete gravity dam in a difficult rock mass and of Vasco da Gama Bridge, 13 km long, crossing the Tagus River in lisbon, Portugal, through piles 75 m deep.

This study aims to reveal the key drivers that influence young individuals to participate in e-entrepreneurship,an increasingly important aspect of economic growth and *** a survey of 305 Omani entrepreneurs,this research found that entrepreneurship role models,opportunity evaluation decisions,and entrepreneurship education were positively related to the intention to pursue ***,self-perceived creativity was found to significantly enhance the relationships among entrepreneurship role models,entrepreneurship education,and e-entrepreneurship *** results of this study offer valuable insights for policymakers in Oman as they highlight the crucial role that entrepreneurship role models,opportunity evaluation decisions,entrepreneurship education,and self-perceived creativity play in shaping young individuals'attitudes toward *** study makes important theoretical and practical contributions and provides a roadmap for policymakers seeking to promote entrepreneurship and support the growth of new business ventures.

Entrepreneurship has gained widespread attention in the 21st *** study aims to examine the direct effect of self-perceived creativity on e-entrepreneurship intention and the moderating effect of social media use on the relationship between self-perceived creativity and e-entrepreneurship *** were gathered from 248 Omani *** findings revealed that the direct effect of self-perceived creativity and social media use significantly influences e-entrepreneurship ***,the positive impact of self-perceived creativity on e-entrepreneurship intention was moderated by social media *** study concluded that self-perceived creativity is a crucial factor at the start of the entrepreneurial process,as it contributes to designing new products and *** addition,this study introduced social media use as a boundary condition on the relationship between self-perceived creativity and e-entrepreneurial ***,this study differs from other studies,as it examines whether social media improves opportunities for entrepreneurs and works fordiscovering and generating opportunities.

Identifying fruit disease manually is time-consuming, expertrequired,and expensive;thus, a computer-based automated system is widelyrequired. Fruit diseases affect not only the quality but also the *** a result, it is possible to detect the disease early on and cure the fruitsusing computer-based techniques. However, computer-based methods faceseveral challenges, including low contrast, a lack of dataset for training amodel, and inappropriate feature extraction for final classification. In thispaper, we proposed an automated framework for detecting apple fruit leafdiseases usingCNNand a hybrid optimization algorithm. Data augmentationis performed initially to balance the selected apple dataset. After that, twopre-trained deep models are fine-tuning and trained using transfer ***, a fusion technique is proposed named Parallel Correlation Threshold(PCT). The fused feature vector is optimized in the next step using a hybridoptimization algorithm. The selected features are finally classified usingmachine learning algorithms. Four different experiments have been carriedout on the augmented Plant Village dataset and yielded the best accuracy of99.8%. The accuracy of the proposed framework is also compared to that ofseveral neural nets, and it outperforms them all.

Segmenting brain tumors in Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)volumes is challenging due to their diffuse and irregular ***,2D and 3D deep neural networks have become famous for medical image segmentation because of the availability of labelled ***,3D networks can be computationally expensive and require significant training *** research proposes a 3D deep learning model for brain tumor segmentation that uses lightweight feature extraction modules to improve performance without compromising contextual information or *** proposed model,called Hybrid Attention-Based Residual Unet(HA-RUnet),is based on the Unet architecture and utilizes residual blocks to extract low-and high-level features from MRI *** and Squeeze-Excitation(SE)modules are also integrated at different levels to learn attention-aware features adaptively within local and global receptive *** proposed model was trained on the BraTS-2020 dataset and achieved a dice score of 0.867,0.813,and 0.787,as well as a sensitivity of 0.93,0.88,and 0.83 for Whole Tumor,Tumor Core,and Enhancing Tumor,on test dataset *** results show that the proposed HA-RUnet model outperforms the ResUnet and AResUnet base models while having a smaller number of parameters than other state-of-the-art ***,the proposed HA-RUnet model can improve brain tumor segmentation accuracy and facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning for medical practitioners.

Human personality assessment using gait pattern recognition is one of the most recent and exciting research *** is a person’s identity that can reflect reliable information about his mood,emotions,and substantial personality traits under *** research focuses on recognizing key personality traits,including neuroticism,extraversion,openness to experience,agreeableness,and conscientiousness,in line with the bigfive model of *** inferred personality traits based on the gait pattern recognition of individuals utilizing built-in smartphone *** experimentation,we collected a novel dataset of 22 participants using an android application and further segmented it into six data chunks for a critical *** data pre-processing,we extracted selected features from each data segment and then applied four multiclass machine learning algorithms for training and classifying the dataset corresponding to the users’Big-Five Personality Traits Profiles(BFPT).Experimental results and performance evaluation of the classifiers revealed the efficacy of the proposed scheme for all big-five traits.

Public understanding of climate and climate change is of broad societal ***,misconceptions regarding reasons for the seasons abound amongst students,teachers,and the public,many of whom believe that seasonality is caused by large variations in Earth’s distance from the *** may be reinforced by textbook illustrations that exaggerate eccentricity or show an inclined view of Earth’s near-circular *** explanations that omit multiple factors influencing seasons,that do not mesh with students’experiences,or that are erroneous,hinder scientifically valid *** show that many teachers share their students’misconceptions,and even when they understand basic concepts,teachers may fail to appreciate the range of factors contributing to seasonal change,or their relative *** have therefore developed a learning resource using Google Earth,a virtual globe with other useful,weather-and climate-related visualizations.A classroom test of 27 undergraduates in a public research university showed that 15 improved their test scores after the Google Earth-based laboratory class,whereas 5 *** correct answers rose from 4.7/10 to 6/10,giving a paired t-test value of *** using Google Earth,students are helped to segue to a heliocentric view.

Sintered Sm（coba1FexCu0.1Zr0.03）7.5 （x=0.09-0.21） permanent magnets with higher Fe content were found to have higher remanence Br and maximum energy product （BH）max at room temperature. Br and （BH）max reached maximum of 0.96 T and 176.7 kJ/m^3, respectively at room temperature when the Fe content x reached 0.21. However, the intrinsic coercivity Hci at room temperature increased gradually when the Fe content x increased from 0.09 to 0.15, but when x further increased to 0.21, Hcidecreased. Hci attained its peak value of 2276.6 kA/m with Fe content x=0.15 at room temperature. For magnets with x=0.15, Br, （BH）max and Hc1 reached 0.67 T, 81.2 kJ/m^3 and 509.4 kA/m at 500 ℃, respectively, showing good high temperature stability, which could be used in high temperature applications.

Biogenic palladium nanoparticles(bio-Pd NPs)are used for the reductive transformation and/or dehalogenation of persistent *** this work,H2(electron donor)was produced in situ by an electrochemical cell,permitting steered production of differently sized bio-Pd *** catalytic activity was first assessed by the degradation of methyl *** NPs showing the highest catalytic activity were selected for the removal of micropollutants from secondary treated municipal *** synthesis at different H2 flow rates(0.310 L/hr or 0.646 L/hr)influenced the bio-Pd NPs *** NPs produced over 6 hr at a lowH2 flow rate had a larger size(D50=39.0 nm)than those produced in 3 hr at a high H2 flow rate(D50=23.2 nm).Removal of 92.1%and 44.3%of methyl orange was obtained after 30 min for the NPs with sizes of 39.0 nm and 23.2 nm,***-Pd NPs of 39.0 nm were used to treat micropollutants present in secondary treated municipal wastewater at concentrations ranging fromμg/L to ng/*** removal of 8 compounds was observed:ibuprofen(69.5%)94.3%)90%***,these data indicate that the size,and thus the catalytic activity of the NPs can be steered and that the removal of challengingmicropollutants at environmentally relevant concentrations can be achieved through the use of bio-Pd NPs.
