Genome-resolved metagenomics of Venice Lagoon surface sediment bacteria reveals high biosynthetic potential and metabolic plasticity as successful strategies in an impacted environment

Bacteria living in sediments play essential roles in marine ecosystems and deeper insights into the ecology and biogeochemistry of these largely unexplored organisms can be obtained from‘omics’***,we characterized metagenome-assembled-genomes(MAGs)from the surface sediment microbes of the Venice Lagoon(northern Adriatic Sea)in distinct sub-basins exposed to various natural and anthropogenic *** were explored for biodiversity,major marine metabolic processes,anthropogenic activity-related functions,adaptations at the microscale,and biosynthetic gene *** from 126 MAGs,a non-redundant dataset of 58 was compiled,the majority of which(35)belonged to(Alpha-and Gamma-)*** the broad microbial metabolic repertoire(including C,N,and S metabolisms)the potential to live without oxygen emerged as one of the most important *** was also found as a successful *** analysis showed that different MAGs encoded the same metabolic patterns(e.g.,C fixation,sulfate oxidation)thus suggesting metabolic *** and toxic compounds resistance genes were coupled,a condition that could promote the spreading of these genetic *** showed a high biosynthetic potential related to antimicrobial and biotechnological classes and to organism defense and interactions as well as adaptive strategies for micronutrient uptake and cellular *** results highlighted that bacteria living in an impacted environment,such as the surface sediments of the Venice Lagoon,may benefit from metabolic plasticity as well as from the synthesis of a wide array of secondary metabolites,promoting ecosystem resilience and stability toward environmental pressures.

BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIM To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).Mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

Mineralogical and geochemical studies have been undertaken on the Triassic to Lower Jurassic Adigrat Sandstone of the Blue Nile Basin of central Ethiopia to infer its source rock type,paleoweathering,and paleoclimatic *** Adigrat Sandstone occurs at the basal section of the Mesozoic sedimentary formation and unconformably overlays the Neoproterozoic–Paleozoic crystalline rocks,or locally,the Karroo sediments in the northern Blue Nile Basin.A mineralogical study reveals that quartz(Q),feldspars(F),and lithic fragments(L)are the framework grains of the *** the QFL diagram,the plot of the modal composition of the sandstone mainly falls within the feldspathic arenite and quartzose arenite *** geochemical data of the lower section of the sandstone mainly falls within the arkose and subarkose fields,whereas the upper section data falls within the quartzose and sublithic arenite *** and geochemical weathering indices indicate that the provenances of the Adigrat Sandstone were exposed to pronounced weathering intensity,where the lower part of the sandstone was controlled by arid to semi-arid conditions,whereas the upper section was linked to humid to semi-humid(tropical to subtropical)climatic *** and geochemical data also indicate that mafic to intermediate basement rocks were the primary source rocks of the *** the sediment was assumed to have been reworked by multi-cyclic sedimentary *** discriminant function diagram,the REE pattern,La/Th ***/Yb,and the Th–Hf–Co plot are consistent.A comparison of provenance studies for the Adigrat Sandstone in the Blue Nile Basin and the Mekele outlier of northern Ethiopia indicates that the sediment of the former is highly sorted,experienced higher weathering intensity,and compositionally derived from mafic to intermediate crystalline *** the other hand,the sediment of the latter is essentially a weathering product of felsic rocks.

Wildfire events are increasing globally which may be partly associated with climate change,resulting in significant adverse impacts on local,regional air quality and global *** September 2020,a small wildfire(burned area:36.3 ha)event occurred in Souesmes(Loiret-Cher,Sologne,france),and its plume spread out over 200 km on the following day as observed by the MODIS *** on measurements at a suburban site(~50 km northwest of the fire location)in Orléans and backward trajectory analysis,young wildfire plumes were *** increases in gaseous pollutants(CO,CH_(4),N_(2)O,VOCs,etc.)and particles(including black carbon)were found within the wildfire plumes,leading to a reduced air *** factors,defined as EF(X)=ΔX/ΔCO(where,X represents the target species),of various trace gases and black carbon within the young wildfire plumes were determined accordingly and compared with previous *** in the ambient ions(such as ammonium,sulfate,nitrate,chloride,and nitrite in the particle-and gasphase)and aerosol properties(e.g.,aerosol water content,aerosol p H)were also quantified and ***,we estimated the total carbon and climate-related species(e.g.,CO_(2),CH_(4),N_(2)O,and BC)emissions and compared them with fire emission *** biomass burning emission inventories have uncertainties in estimating small fire burned areas and *** instance,we found that the Global Fire Assimilation System(GFAS)may underestimate emissions(e.g.,CO)of this small wildfire while other inventories(GFED and FINN)showed significant *** that it is the first time to record wildfire plumes in this region,related atmospheric implications are presented and discussed.

Peripheral nerve regeneration requires stepwise and well-organized establishment of *** local delivery of VEGF-A in peripheral nerve repair is expected to promote angiogenesis in the microenvironment and Schwann cells(SCs)play critical role in nerve repair,combination of VEGF and Schwann cells may lead to efficient peripheral nerve ***-A overexpressing Schwann cells were established and loaded into the inner wall of hydroxyethyl cellulose/soy protein isolate/polyaniline sponge(HSPS)*** HSPS is mechanically distorted,it still has high durability of strain strength,thus,can accommodate unexpected strain of nerve tissues in motion.A 10 mm nerve defect rat model was used to test the repair performance of the HSPS-SC(VEGF)conduits,meanwhile the HSPS,HSPS-SC,HSPS-VEGF conduits and autografts were worked as *** immunofluorescent co-staining of GFP/VEGF-A,Ki67 and MBP showed that the VEGF-A overexpressing Schwann cells could promote the proliferation,migration and differentiation of Schwann cells as the VEGF-A was secreted from the VEGF-A overexpressing Schwann *** nerve repair performance of the multifunctional and flexible conduits was examined though rat behavioristics,electrophysiology,nerve innervation to gastrocnemius muscle(GM),toluidine blue(TB)staining,transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and NF200/S100 double staining in the regenerated *** results displayed that the effects on the repair of peripheral nerves in HSPS-SC(VEGF)group was the best among the conduits groups and closed to ***-SC(VEGF)group exhibited notably increased CD31+endothelial cells and activation of VEGfr2/ERK signaling pathway in the regenerated nerve tissues,which probably contributed to the improved nerve ***,the comprehensive strategy including VEGF overexpressing Schwann cells-mediated and HSPS conduit-guided peripheral nerve repair provides a new avenue for nerve tissue engineering.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has emerged as the most common causeof chronic liver disorder worldwide. It represents a spectrum that includes acontinuum of different clinical entities ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholicsteatohepatitis, which can evolve to cirrhosis and in some cases tohepatocellular carcinoma, ultimately leading to liver failure. The pathogenesis ofNAFLD and the mechanisms underlying its progression to more pathologicalstages are not completely understood. Besides genetic factors, evidence indicatesthat epigenetic mechanisms occurring in response to environmental stimuli alsocontribute to the disease risk. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), including microRNAs,long noncoding RNAs, and circular RNAs, are one of the epigenetic factors thatplay key regulatory roles in the development of NAFLD. As the field of ncRNAsis rapidly evolving, the present review aims to explore the current state ofknowledge on the roles of these RNA species in the pathogenesis of NAFLD,highlight relevant mechanisms by which some ncRNAs can modulate regulatorynetworks implicated in NAFLD, and discuss key challenges and future directionsfacing current research in the hopes of developing ncRNAs as next-generationnon-invasive diagnostics and therapies in NAFLD and subsequent progression tohepatocellular carcinoma.

7-（Diethylamino）-3-（4-aminophenyl）coumarin has been synthesized in a new one-pot synthesis by a three-step process starting from 4-（diethylamino）salicylaldehyde and 4-nitrophenylacetonitrile. The product was obtained in a good yield with a high degree of purity and characterized by NMR, IR and HR-MS. The orange crystals of the title compound were grown from ethyl acetate solution. The solid state structure was established by X-ray crystallography analysis. The crystal belongs to the orthorombic system, space group Pccn with a = 11.1095（5）, b = 33.0187（15）, c = 17.2865（7） A, V= 6341.1（5） A3, C19H20N2O2, Mr = 308.37, ρcalc = 1.292 g·cm^-3, = 0.085 mm^-1, F（000） = 2624, the final R = 0.0480 and wR = 0.1265 （I〉 2σ（I））.
