Joint Effects of Heat Stress and PM_(2.5) Exposure on Glucose Metabolism and Hepatic Insulin Signaling

Background:Heatwave events occur more frequently,accompanied by a significant increase in the ambient concentration of fine particulate matter(PM 2.5).Epidemiological and experimental studies have suggested that heat stress or PM 2.5 exposure would impair glucose homeostasis and insulin ***:To explore the joint effects of heat stress and PM 2.5 exposure on glucose metabolism and hepatic insulin ***:C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into filtered air(FA)group,fine particulate matter(PM)group,filtered air combined with heat stress(FH)group,and PM combined with heat stress(PH)*** were exposed to PM for a total of 6 weeks,and heat stress combined with PM exposure was applied at the 5th and 6th weeks via a whole-body exposure *** glucose homeostasis,insulin sensitivity,and circulating inflammatory cytokines were ***72 expression and insulin signaling in the liver were ***:Glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity were impaired in response to heat stress,accompanied by less-ened hepatic GLUT2 expression and inhibited insulin signaling *** synergistic effects of heat stress and PM 2.5 exposure on glucose homeostasis were observed,while heat-upregulated HSP72 expression was attenuated with accumulated TNF𝛼induced by further PM 2.5 ***:Heat stress combined with PM 2.5 exposure induced TNF𝛼,which could inhibit heat-elevated hepatic HSP72 *** circulating TNF𝛼impaired hepatic insulin signaling and GLUT2 ***,glucose homeostasis was perturbed,and insulin action was impaired.

Importance of quality control in lipidomics profiling based on mass spectrometry

As a current analytical instrument for lipidomics profiling with high sensitivity, selectivity, and throughput, mass spectrometry (MS) has been widely used in the field of clinical medicine, nutrition, bromatology, botany and etc. During the routine use of shotgun- MS and high performance liquid chromatography-MS (HPLC-MS) in lipid analysis, an important problem to be solved is the defective repeatability and stability resulting from signal attenuation or drifts in LC-peak shape and retention time of MS platform. To remove or minimize the influence, extensively accepted and applied QC (quality control) samples must be performed. In this review, we emphasize the importance of the application of QC samples, which could 1) provide the ability to equilibrate the analytical platform at the beginning; 2) act as a quality assurance (QA) procedure during the analytical process; 3) perform signal correction in the data handling with the purpose of reducing analytical variation and improving the precision of quantitative analysis; 4) the data between different laboratories can be compared through the incorporation of particular QC samples-Standard Reference Material (SRM) 1950. In addition, we display 4 types and requirements of QC samples during quality control in lipidomics profiling. Lipidomics profiling based on MS strongly requires commonly accepted guidelines for quality control to perform routine, large-scale researches, so as to integrate data from different scientists for more information.

Rice stem breaking resistance primarily depends on the basal culms *** main objectives of this study were to investigate the correlation between the basal culms bending strength and the anatomical characteristics of high-yielding rice populations at different eco-sites and its responses to *** experiments were conducted at Taoyuan(a special high-yield eco-site) in Yunnan province and Danyang(representative eco-site of the middle and lower Yangtze) in Jiangsu province,China,in 2011 and *** super indica hybrid rice called ’Y Liangyou 2’ was grown at both eco-sites with N rate *** breaking strength at Taoyuan eco-site was significant higher than that of at *** greater structural carbohydrate concentration(*** and lignin) was primarily responsible for the higher bending stress at Taoyuan *** numbers of the sclerenchymatous cell layer of primarily vascular bundles(PVB),secondary vascular bundles(SVB) and mechanic tissue(MT) of the rice basal culms at Taoyuan eco-site enhanced the basal culms stiffness and strength via the deeper lignifications,The intensive degree of PVB and SVB were higher at Taoyuan than that at Danyang,which primarily caused by the weaker culms diameter and wall ***,the distance between the PVB and SVB to the periphery at Taoyuan eco-site was nearer,which increased the stem stiffness and the outer fibers endure maximal *** N input increased,the radial direction length,circumferential direction length,the numbers of sclerenchymatous cell layer of PVB and SVB increased significantly at Taoyuan,which strengthened the cellulose and ***,all of these varied slightly at Danyang,the cellulose and lignifications content decreased with the increasing *** results suggested that the response to nitrogen on the culms mechanical strength primarily reflected on the NSC varies,and the steadily improvement of basal culms mechanical strength in the high-yield rice

The main purpose of this paper is to study the persistence of the general multispecies competition predator-pray system with Holling Ⅲ type functional response. In this system, the competition among predator species and among prey species are simultaneously considered. By using the comparison theory and qualitative analysis, the sufficient conditions for uniform strong persistence are obtained.

A simple and effcient method for the synthesis of new glycolipids containing oligosaccharide and two long alkyl chains N-4(dialkyl-L-glutamatecarbony lethylcarbonylamino)butyl]lactobionamide has been developed in moderate *** successfully selected succinic anhydride which could condese with dialkyl L-glutamates in almost quantitative *** aminolysis of lactonolactone with 1,4-diaminobutane could be carried out in quantitative yield. The glycolipids prepared by this method have three amino acid residues between hydrophobic segment and hydrophilic moiety of the glycolipid which can be consideeeered to maintain the steric conformation of lipase in enzymatic reactions.

Bibliometric analysis on retinoblastoma literatures in PubMed during 1929 to 2010

AIM: To determine the growth rule and tendency of retinoblastoma (Rb) literature, and to provide the basis for research of diagnosis, treatment and on Rb. METHODS: Bibliometric analyses were carried out on Rb literatures which contain the descriptors of Rb in their titles or texts from 1929 to 2010 in PubMed database (***. ***/Pubmed). The biomedical journals referring to Rb by using bibliometric indicators were calculated. The principal bibliometric indicators, i.e, Price's and Bradford's laws to the increase or distribution of scientific literature, the participation index of languages and the journals were applied. By means of manual coding, Rb documents were classified according to documents studied and to statistical analysis. RESULTS: During 1929-2010, there were 16162 literatures in the PubMed database including the word Rb. According to the literature type, it includes Review (n=2026), Randomized Controlled Trial (n = 7), Practice guideline (n = 3), meta-analysis (n = 4), letter (n = 215), editorial (n = 98), clinical trial (n = 115) and others (n = 13694). By the statistical analysis, its equation is near power index (y = 3.0477 x(2.6088), R(2) = 0.9666). From 1929 to 2010, Rb literatures in English were primarily dominant (90.71%) and the amount of the literature in chinese ranked the fourth (1.37%). By searching PubMed, 1420 (8.8%) literatures covered were from 41 of 48 ophthalmological, and 406 (2.5%) literatures from 44 of 86 pediatrics journals that correlated with retinoblastoma (sci-indexed). The data showed that the literatures of Rb were gradually increasing year by year and were approximate near power index during 1929-2010, and the document publishes published mainly in ophthalmological journals, and in English (90.71%), and showing that the study on Rb is a popular subject in the last half century. CONCLUSION: The literatures of Rb are gradually increasing, mainly English in ophthalmologic journals.

Removal of Anionic Metal Ions from Wastewater by Hydroxide-type Adsorbents

Generally speaking,anionic metal concentrations in wastewater from industries and mineral processing plants are well above the allowed limits for effluent set by the Ministry of Environment of Japan. Nowadays,the removal of anionic ions has been considered difficult and development of new process is desperately needed. In this paper,we report the development of three hydroxide-type adsorbents,illustrating their adsorption efficiency in removing As,Se,Mo and Sb ions from aqueous solutions. The main finding of this work was that the adsorption behavior was influenced very much by both the pH and the adsorbent concentration. Nevertheless,the newly developed hydroxide-type adsorbents were very effective in reducing the concentration of those anionic ions.
