Jet tagging with more-interaction particle transformer

In this paper,we introduce the More-Interaction Particle Transformer(MIParT),a novel deep-learning neural network designed for jet *** framework incorporates our own design,the More-Interaction Attention(MIA)mechanism,which increases the dimensionality of particle interaction *** tested MIParT using the top tagging and quark-gluon *** results show that MIParT not only matches the accuracy and AUC of LorentzNet and a series of Lorentz-equivariant methods,but also significantly outperforms the ParT model in background ***,it improves background rejection by approximately 25% with a signal efficiency of 30% on the top tagging dataset and by 3% on the quark-gluon ***,MIParT requires only 30% of the parameters and 53% of the computational complexity needed by ParT,proving that high performance can be achieved with reduced model *** very large datasets,we double the dimension of particle embeddings,referring to this variant as MIParT-Large(MIParT-L).We found that MIParT-L can further capitalize on the knowledge from large *** a model pre-trained on the 100M JetClass dataset,the background rejection performance of fine-tuned MIParT-L improves by 39% on the top tagging dataset and by 6% on the quark-gluon dataset,surpassing that of fine-tuned ***,the background rejection of fine-tuned MIParT-L improves by an additional 2% compared to that of fine-tuned *** results suggest that MIParT has the potential to increase the efficiency of benchmarks for jet tagging and event identification in particle physics.

Recent progress of cern 39-cryogenic tracking detectors collaboration

Significant progress was made by the cern RD39 collaboration in the development of super radiation-hard cryogenic silicon detectors for applications in experiments at LHC, in particular after its future luminosity upgrade. The detailed modeling shows that the electric field in irradiated silicon detectors can easily be manipulated by the filling state of two deep defect levels at cryogenic temperature. Advanced radiation hard detectors using charge or current injection and the current injected detectors(CID) were developed by RD39. The results show that CID detectors can be operated at the temperature of 100?200 K with much improved charge collection efficiency(CCE) as compared with RT operation. Future studies are developing ultra-hard cryogenic silicon detectors for the LHC upgrade, where the radiation hardness is required up to 1016 neq/cm2, at which trapping will limit the charge collection depth to the range of 20 to 50 μm regardless of the depletion depth. The key of our approach is to use freeze-out trapping to affect CCE.

Challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease:Parkinson’s disease(PD)is an increasingly prevalent neurodegenerative disease,at first sight primarily characterized by motor symptoms,although non-motor symptoms also constitute a major part of the overall ***,this disease cannot be diagnosed reliably until a large part of the vulnerable dopaminergic neurons has been irretrievably lost,and the disease progresses *** biological criteria for PD have been proposed recently and might eventually improve early diagnosis,but they require further validation,and their use will initially be restricted to a research environment(Darweesh et al.,2024).

Recent progress of cern RD50 Collaboration

The objective of the cern RD50 Collaboration is to develop radiation hard semiconductor detectors for very high luminosity colliders, in particular, for the upgrade of the large hadron collider (LHC) which itself is scheduled to be operational in 2007. The approach of the RD50 has two major research lines, material engineering and device engineering. These are further subdivided into projects covering defect characterization and engineering, new detector materials, detector characterization, new detector structures and full detector systems. Presently, 264 members from 53 institutes are actively participating in the RD50 Collaboration. Detectors made of defect engineered substrates, e.g. high resistivity magnetic Czochralski (MCz-Si), epitaxial silicon (Epi-Si) on Czochralski silicon (Cz-Si) substrate, intentionally thermal donor (TD) compensated p-type MCz-Si and oxygen enriched (DOFZ) silicon, have been demonstrated by the RD50 Collaboration. An overview and highlights of the results of these defect engineering techniques were given in this report.

Beyond axial symmetry:high-energy collisions unveil the ground-state shape of ^(238)U

How does the strong force shape the structure of atomic nuclei- The STAR collaboration at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider(RHIC) demonstrate that ultra-relativistic collision experiments give key insights into this fundamental question. From dedicated measurements in ^(238)U+^(238)U collisions at 100 GeV/nucleon energy, the STAR collaboration determine the deformed shape of the ^(238)U nucleus, showing in particular that the experimental observables probe the elusive ground-state triaxiality of this isotope. These results pave the way to systematic characterizations of ground-state nuclear properties at high-energy colliders.

Main linac lattice design and optimization for E_(cm)=1 TeV CLIC

The Compact Linear Collider （CLIC） is a future e＋e linear collider. The CLIC study concentrated on a design of center-of-mass energy of 3 TeV and demonstrated the feasibility of the technology. However, the physics also demands lower energy collision. To satisfy this, CLIC can be built in stages. The actual stages will depend on LHC results. Some specific scenarios of staged constructions have been shown in CLIC Concept Design Report （CDR）. In this paper, we concentrate on the main linac lattice design for Ecm=l TeV CLIC aiming to upgrade from E~.,=500 GeV CLIC and then to Ecru=3 TeV one. This main linac accelerates the electron or positron beam froth 9 GeV to 500 GeV. A primary lattice design based on the 3 TeV CLIC main linac design and its optimization based on the beam dynamics study will be presented. As we use the same design principles as 3TeV CLIC main linac, this optimization is basically identical to the 3 TeV one. All the simulations results are obtained using the tracking code PLACET.
