We study behavior of an atomic wave packet in a circularly polarized electromagnetic wave, and particularly calculate the atomic inversion of the wave packet. A general method of calculation is presented. The results are interesting. For example, if the wave packet is very narrow or/and the interaction is very strong, no matter the atom is initially in its ground state or excited state, the atomic inversion approaches zero as time approaches infinity. If the atom is initially in its ground state and excited state with the probability 1/2 respectively, and if the momentum density is an even function, then the atomic inversion equals zero at any time.

We study the ratchet model with both thermal and potential fluctuations, discussing analytically the coherence resonance of the particle moving in such a potential field. It is found that the correlation between the thermal and potential fluctuations has significant effect on the coherence of the system, i. e. negative correlation enhances the coherence of the system greatly, and with positive correlation, there appears the phenomenon that the coherence suppression and enhancement occur alternatively as the additive noise becomes larger.

A more general expression for the quark propagator including both chiral and diquark condensates has been derived by using energy projectors. This makes it possible to study the phase transition from hadron phase to color superconductivity phase in the moderate baryon density region by using the Feynman diagrammatic method or the Green function method.

Possibility of coexistence of ferromagnetism (FM) and superconductivity (SC) in UGe2 based on a two-parameter model in an anisotropic quasi-two-dimensional system is discussed with both singlet s-wave and triplet p-wave SCs. It is emphasized that the coexistence of FM and singlet s-wave SC is energetically high among all possible states, while the coexistence of FM and triplet p-wave SC is energetically favourable among all possible states. Furthermore, we find that the magnetization dependence of the SC energy gap is nonmonotonic, which may explain the experimental result discovered in UGe2.
