The problem of reducing conservatism of observer design of discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems is addressed via a new kind of fuzzy observer. The so-called multi-instant fuzzy observer is parameter-dependent on both past-time and current-time normalized fuzzy weighting functions. Since more information about the underlying fuzzy systems could be involved into observer design, the conservatism of observer design for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems can be significantly reduced. In particular, some existing fuzzy observers are special cases of the multiinstant fuzzy observer proposed in this paper. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Will Tax Burden Be a Stumbling Block to Carbon-Emission Reduction? Evidence from OECD Countries

This paper studies the collaboration-based vehicle routing problem with appointment time window aiming at the pickup and delivery service to airport. After defining the satisfaction degree under appointment time window, a heuristic approach is proposed to find the globally optimal vehicle routing scheme. By modeling the pickup and delivery service to airport with and without collaborations, the corresponding multi-constraint models are built. Set divisions and vehicle collaborations at customer points are considered to find the optimal basic and collaborative routes. Thus the optimal vehicle routing scheme with appointment time window can be created. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is feasible.

The influence of taxation on the economy and society is everywhere. Given the fact that CO_(2) emission is closely connected with human activities, the question naturally arises whether the tax burden affects the carbon emissions. To address this issue, based on the data of 21 OECD countries over the period from 1991–2014, we use the ratio of tax revenue to GDP as a proxy of the tax burden and employ a panel quantile model with the non-additive fixed effects for analysis. The results suggest that the impact of the tax burden on carbon emissions is heterogeneous across countries based on the level of carbon emissions. Moreover, we find a stable U-shaped relationship between the tax burden and carbon emissions whether for countries with a high or low level of carbon emissions. Our findings suggest that moderate taxes could help reduce carbon emissions, but the effect of excessive taxation is the opposite.

This paper studies the multi-trip vehicle scheduling problem with time window in the pickup and delivery service to airport. The collaboration and multi-trip approaches are used to improve the vehicle scheduling scheme’ performance and effectiveness. Firstly, the multi-trip optimal cost model with collaborations is presented to describe the vehicle scheduling problem in such a service. Then a heuristic method is proposed to find the optimal solution to this model. After sorting customer points via arriving time requirement and the constraints, the basic and collaborative routes can be built to finish the optimal vehicle scheduling meeting the given constraints. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is effective and feasible.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has garnered considerable attention from countries, institutions, enterprises and social groups. However, the lack of research on CSR evaluation system for industries has impeded its development and construction across various industries. Therefore, given the close association of pharmaceutical distribution enterprises with personal health, there exists a pressing need to explore the CSR in this domain. This paper establishes a CSR evaluation index system for pharmaceutical distribution enterprises, employing a combination of documentary analysis and in-depth interviews. This index system comprises 7 CSR criterion layers (e.g., responsible governance and employee responsibility) and 56 index layers. 25 listed companies in China’s pharmaceutical distribution industry are chosen as research objects, and this study also establishes an evaluation model for the CSR of pharmaceutical distribution companies through the improved Criteria Importance Though Intercrieria Correlation (CRITIC) method combined with The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. The empirical analysis reveals that the responsible governance criterion layer and the social development criterion layer demonstrate the best performance, while the supplier, customer and patient responsibility criterion layer exhibit the worst performance.

Design and Development of a High-Throughput System for Learning and Memory Research on Zebrafish

Background: Since 2004, zebrafish have become the state-of-the-art, in vivo model for biomedical research due to their genetic and physiological homology with humans, inexpensive high-quantity breeding, and quick development in a highly-controlled environment suitable for longitudinal studies. New Method: To fully utilize the zebrafish model, a novel, automated, high-throughput system was designed. Shoals of five zebrafish were placed in 16 tanks and automatically fed over two days for a total of 16 training sessions. Color LED lights were used as the stimulus for each shoal coinciding with the release of food for a duration of 20 seconds. This system was tested on two age groups: 6- and 11-month-old. Results: After three training sessions, the median height of the school in the tank during stimulus was significantly higher than that of the naïve fish during the first training session. All subsequent training sessions demonstrated similar behaviour. A decline in memory retention, as defined by a reduction in the median height during light stimulus (i.e. no simultaneous food delivery), was observed 8 days post training. Comparison with existing methods: The high-throughput nature of this system allows for simultaneous training of 16 tanks of fish under identical conditions without human interaction and provides a means to rapidly assess their learning and memory behaviours. Conclusion: Results provide a baseline for understanding the normal cognitive processes of learning and memory retention in zebrafish. This work paves the way for future studies on the impacts of therapeutic agents on these cognitive processes.

In this paper,we study the optimal timing to convert the risk of business for an insurance company in order to improve its *** cash flow of company evolves according to a jump-diffusion *** conversion option offers the company an opportunity to transfer the jump risk business *** exchange for this option,the company needs to pay both fixed and proportional transaction *** proportional cost can also be seen as the profit loading of the jump risk *** formulated this problem as an optimal stopping *** solving this stopping problem,we find that the optimal timing of business conversion mainly depends on the profit loading of the jump risk business.A larger profit loading would make the conversion option *** fixed cost,however,only delays the optimal timing of business *** the end,numerical results are provided to illustrate the impacts of transaction costs and environmental parameters to the optimal strategies.

Bacillus coagulans has been extensively studied so far,but there has been a lack of research on its usage in *** this study,we designed to assess the effect of different concentrations of *** on food allergy in a BALB/c mouse model of ovalbumin(OVA)-induced food allergy and its effect on gut *** assessment of symptoms,specific immunoglobulin E(IgE),T-cell differentiation,and related gene expression levels in sensitized mice by assay indicated that high doses of oral *** could alleviate allergic *** with ***,in the high-dose group,significantly reduced IgE and IgG1 levels and modulated the balance of T helper type 1 cell(Th1)and Th2 and the expression of relevant genes in the spleen.16S rRNA analysis showed that probiotics improved the structure of the microbiota,in particular by boosting the percentage of Clostridia,Bacteroides vulgatus and Enterococcus faecium,and by increasing the abundance of microbial species,thereby modulating the immune ***,this study can provide insights into the practical application of *** doses to alleviate OVA allergy.

This research explores the dynamic relationships between ecological footprint,economic performance,financial development,energy usage,and foreign direct investment(FDI)in South Asian economies utilizing the panel data from 1971 to *** panel data analysis,conventional methods generally ignore the issues of cross-sectional dependency and the heterogenous nature of cross-sectional *** other concern with the existing research is that most of the studies ignore the significance of ecological footprint while evaluating financial development and FDI as sources of environmental *** longterm relationship among the indicators is tested utilizing the Westerlund cointegration *** findings support both environmental Kuznets curve and pollution haven hypotheses for South Asian ***,the empirical findings suggest that financial development increases environmental conservation while energy usage substantially disrupts the environment of the selected south Asian ***,the heterogeneous causality analysis reveals the causal relationships between the ***,overall results recommend that the South Asian economies need to boost economic growth without compromising the environment,decrease fossil fuel usage,enhance financial sector growth and incentivize environmentally friendly FDI to conserve the environment in the region.
