Plate motion representing a remarkable Earth process is widely attributed to several primary forces such as ridge push and slab pull. Recently, we have presented that the ocean water pressure against the wall of continents may generate enormous force on continents. Continents are physically fixed on the top of the lithosphere that has been already broken into individual plates, this attachment enables the force to be laterally transferred to the lithospheric plates. In this study, we combine the force and the existing plate driving forces (i.e., ridge push, slab pull, collisional, and shearing) to account for plate motion. We show that the modelled movements for the South American, African, North American, Eurasian, Australian, Pacific plates are well agreement with the observed movements in both speed and azimuth, with a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of the modelled speed against the observed speed of 0.91, 3.76, 2.77, 2.31, 7.43, and 1.95 mm/yr, respectively.

Land consolidation(LC) stands as a globally recognized strategy for rural development. In China, it has evolved towards comprehensive land consolidation(CLC) to support the rural revitalization initiative. However, there are ongoing challenges in understanding CLC's specific pathway and mechanism, particularly its role in stimulating rural endogenous development. This study aims to investigate the localization process of international experiences, examine the pathway of CLC, and scrutinize its mechanism in rural development from a novel perspective of neo-endogenous development. Field research and semi-structured interviews were conducted in Nanzhanglou village, renowned for its early adoption of CLC practices inspired by German experiences since 1988. Overall, key findings underscore the advantages of CLC in spatial restructuring, industrial development, and human capital enhancement in rural areas. Additionally, international experiences emerge as crucial exogenous forces, primarily by knowledge embedding, which catalyzes rural neo-endogenous development via the “resource-engagement-identity-endogenous” mechanism. Collectively, by introducing a neo-endogenous theoretical framework, this study offers valuable insights into the CLC implementation in China and beyond, and emphasizes the positive impact of knowledge embedding as an exogenous force in promoting rural neo-endogenous development to address existing research gaps. Recommendations for sustainable rural development involve enhancing rural planning practicality, governance capacity, and local leadership, while prioritizing agricultural modernization and increasing investments in education and vocational training to ensure that villagers benefit from industrial development.

Accurate estimation of the drag forces generated by vegetation stems is crucial for the comprehensive assessment of the impact of aquatic vegetation on hydrodynamic processes in aquatic *** coupling relationship between vegetation layer flow velocity and vegetation drag makes precise prediction of submerged vegetation drag forces particularly *** present study utilized published data on submerged vegetation drag force measurements and employed a genetic programming(GP)algorithm,a machine learning technique,to establish the connection between submerged vegetation drag forces and flow and vegetation *** using the bulk velocity,U,as the reference velocity scale to define the drag coefficient,C_(d),and stem Reynolds number,the GP runs revealed that the drag coefficient of submerged vegetation is related to submergence ratio(H^(*)),aspect ratio(d^(*)),blockage ratio(ψ^(*)),and vegetation density(λ).The relation between vegetation stem drag forces and flow velocity is implicitly embedded in the definition of C_(d).Comparisons with experimental drag force measurements indicate that using the bulk velocity as the reference velocity,as opposed to using the vegetation layer average velocity,U_(v),eliminates the need for complex iterative processes to estimate U_(v)and avoids introducing additional errors associated with U_(v)*** approach significantly enhances the model’s predictive capabilities and results in a simpler and more user-friendly formula expression.

Mangroves play a pivotal role in tropical and subtropical coastal ecosystem,yet they are highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change,particularly the accelerated global sea level rise(SLR)and stronger tropical cyclones(TCs).However,there is a lack of research addressing future simultaneous combined impacts of the slow-onset of SLR and rapid-onset of TCs on China's *** order to develop a comprehensive risk assessment method considering the superimposed effects of these two factors and analyze risk for mangroves in Dongzhaigang,Hainan Island,China,we used observational and climate model data to assess the risks to mangroves under low,intermediate,and very high greenhouse gas(GHG)emission scenarios(such as SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,and SSP5-8.5)in 2030,2050,and 2100,and compiled a risk assessment scheme for mangroves in Dongzhaigang,*** results showed that the combined risks from SLR and TCs will continue to rise;however,SLRs will increase in intensity,and TCs will *** comprehensive risk of the Dongzhaigang mangroves posed by climate change will remain low under SSP1-2.6 and SSP2-4.5 scenarios by 2030,but it will increase substantially by *** under SSP5-8.5 scenario,the risks to mangroves in Dongzhaigang are projected to increase considerably by 2050,and approximately 68.8%of mangroves will be at very high risk by *** risk to the Dongzhaigang mangroves is not only influenced by the hazards but also closely linked to their exposure and *** therefore propose climate resilience developmental responses for mangroves to address the effects of climate *** study for the combined impact of TCs and SLR on mangroves in Dongzhaigang,China can enrich the method system of mangrove risk assessment and provide references for scientific management.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) are highly promising porous materials known for their exceptional porosity, extensive surface area, and customizable pore structures, making them an ideal solution for hydrogen storage. However, most MOFs research remains confined to the laboratory, lacking practical applications. To address this, the author proposes a shift towards practical applications, the creation of a comprehensive MOFs database, alignment of synthesis with practical considerations, and diversification of MOFs applications. These steps are crucial for harnessing the full potential of MOFs in real-world energy challenges.

With the rapid development of industrial parks, its load model research has become a hot spot. In order to study the load of power system in industrial park, based on the characteristics of the industrial park load, a comprehensive load admittance static model with full voltage range adaptability is considered, and a comprehensive load model of distribution network of the industrial park is established. A complete parameter identification of the model is carried out through chaos particle swarm optimization. The simulation results show that the model can effectively describe the load characteristics of the distribution network in industrial parks.

The occurrence of ultrafiltration(UF)membrane fouling frequently hampers the sustainable advancement of UF *** self-cleaning UF membranes can effectively alleviate the problem of membrane ***,the self-cleaning process may accelerate membrane *** these concerns,we present an innovative design concept for composite self-healing materials based on self-cleaning UF *** begin,TiO_(2)nanoparticles were incorporated into the polymer molecular structure via molecular design,resulting in the synthesis of TiO_(2)/carboxyl-polyether sulfone(PES)hybrid ***,the nonsolvent-induced phase inversion technique was employed to prepare a novel of UF ***,a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)hydrogel coating was applied to the hybrid UF membrane surface to create PVA@TiO_(2)/carboxyl-PES self-healing reactive UF *** establishing a covalent bond,the TiO_(2)nanoparticles were effectively and uniformly dispersed within the UF membrane,leading to exceptional self-cleaning ***,the water-absorbing and swelling properties of PVA hydrogel,along with its capacity to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules,resulted in UF membranes with improved hydrophilicity and active self-healing *** results demonstrated that the water contact angle of PVA@5%TiO_(2)/carboxyl-PES UF membrane was 43.1°.Following a 1-h exposure to simulated solar exposure,the water flux recovery ratio increased from 48.16%to 81.03%.Moreover,even after undergoing five cycles of 12-h simulated sunlight exposure,the UF membranes exhibited a consistent retention rate of over 97%,thus fully demonstrating their exceptional self-cleaning,antifouling,and selfhealing *** anticipate that the self-healing reactive UF membrane system will serve as a pioneering and comprehensive solution for the self-cleaning antifouling challenges encountered in UF membranes while also effectively mitigating the aging effects of reactive

Selective leaching of lithium from spent lithium-ion batteries using sulfuric acid and oxalic acid

Traditional hydrometallurgical methods for recovering spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)involve acid leaching to simultaneously extract all valuable metals into the *** methods usually are followed by a series of separation steps such as precipitation,extraction,and stripping to separate the individual valuable *** this study,we present a process for selectively leaching lithium through the synergistic effect of sulfuric and oxalic *** optimal leaching conditions(leaching time of 1.5 h,leaching temperature of 70°C,liquid-solid ratio of 4 mL/g,oxalic acid ratio of 1.3,and sulfuric acid ratio of 1.3),the lithium leaching efficiency reached89.6%,and the leaching efficiencies of Ni,Co,and Mn were 12.8%,6.5%,and 21.7%.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer(ICP-OES)analyses showed that most of the Ni,Co,and Mn in the raw material remained as solid residue oxides and *** study offers a new approach to enriching the relevant theory for selectively recovering lithium from spent LIBs.
