Surgical treatment of acute cholecystitis in patients with confirmed COVID-19:Ten case reports and review of literature

BACKGROUND Research concerning postoperative outcomes of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients revealed unfavorable postoperative results with increased morbidity,pulmonary complications and *** reports have suggested that COVID-19 is associated with more aggressive presentation of acute *** aim of the present study is to describe the perioperative assessment and postoperative outcomes of ten patients with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection with concomitant acute cholecystitis who underwent *** SUMMARY We report a total of 10 SARS-CoV-2 positive patients with concomitant acute cholecystitis that underwent *** patients were males,the mean age was 47.1 *** patients had moderate acute cholecystitis,and one patient had severe acute *** patients were treated with urgent/early laparoscopic *** the Parkland grading scale,two patients received a Parkland grade of 3,two patients received a Parkland grade of 4,and six patients received a Parkland grade of *** patients required a bail-out *** patients developed biliary leakage and required endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with biliary *** surgery,five patients developed acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)and required intensive care unit(ICU)*** patient died after cholecystectomy due to ARDS *** mean total length of stay(LOS)was 18.2 *** histopathology demonstrated transmural necrosis(n=5),vessel obliteration with ischemia(n=3),perforation(n=3),and acute peritonitis(n=10).CONCLUSION COVID-19 patients with acute cholecystitis had difficult cholecystectomies,high rates of ICU admission,and a prolonged LOS.

这栋新建的面积达4 060 m2的体育中心,是巴黎第18区（荒废的铁路棕地）ZAC Pajol总体规划的一部分.该区是巴黎首个全面进行可持续开发的地区,20世纪20年代以来的工业建筑已被陆续改建为青年旅馆、音乐厅音乐厅、带顶花园、中学以及职业学院.体育中心选址于一处新的城市广场和广阔的铁路景观之间,视野开阔.设计没有追求复杂的形态而是更加关注光线的处理和品质,以及室内外空间之间的关系.

Dear Editor,Persistent hematuria could trigger urinary retention,leading the patient to the emergency department for abdominal pain,decreased urinary output,anemia,and azotemia[1,2].Conventional bladder clot evacuation requires a three-way catheter with continuous irrigation and aspiration with a syringe or Ellik evacuator[3].Sometimes a large and well-organized hematoma requires an open cystostomy[1,4].We want to introduce a combined method using hydrogen peroxide as well as suction technique with an endotracheal catheter to evacuate intravesical clots.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical skin endemic disease, with worldwide distribution. By 2020 in the Americas, Mexico was in 12th place with 11 states reporting new cases. Molecular biology with different targets for diagnosis and species identification has been used for decades, also dermoscopy, a non-invasive diagnostic tool has shown its usefulness. We present the first case of cutaneous leishmaniasis in non-endemic place (Guerrero, Mexico) identifying Leishmania mexicana with molecular biology, and treated with itraconazole.

Aera是一家无麸质面包加工坊和咖啡馆,位于柏林罗森泰尔广场(Rosenthal er Patzl)。建筑二人组gonzalez Haase AAS的设计充分利用了面包坊在该街区的突出位置,透过店面的橱窗,纯青金石蓝色的内部空间让人过目不忘。设计师将70m2的空间从过去的“层层叠叠”中解放出来,露出了3.8m高的天花板。从店外就可以看到13m长的进深,墙面尽量舒展,不做任何装饰。一个沿对角线放置的柜台从入口处一直延伸到商店的尽头,将空间划分为2个功能区,并引导游客沿着商店狭长的布局进入、下单、提货等。

Short-term outcomes after the loading phase of intravitreal bevacizumab and subthreshold macular laser in non-center involved diabetic macular edema

AIM： To compare the effectiveness of intravitreal bevacizumab and subthreshold macular photocoagulation （SMP）, for the treatment of non-center involved diabetic macular edema （non-CI DME）. METHODS： Prospective, randomized, controlled clinical study included patients with type 2 diabetes, non-CI DME and best-corrected visual acuity （BCVA） of 0.30 logMAR or better. Each eye was randomized into three groups： group 1, monthly intravitreal bevacizumab; group 2, single SMP; group 3, single SMP and monthly bevacizumab. Main outcome measures were BCVA, and macular thickness measured with optical coherence tomography as macular central subfield thickness （CST）, macular area of greater thickness （MAGT） and total macular volume （TMV）. Results were analyzed after 3mo. RESULTS： A total of 32 eyes were included. Group 3 improved in BCVA （0.19±0.16 to 0.12±0.14 logMAR; P=0.041） and in TMV （7.90±0.57 to 7.65±0.73 mm3; P=0.025）. Group 1 improved in MAGT （325±26.26 to 298.20±44.85 μm; P=0.022） and TMV （7.79±0.57 to 7.50±0.56 mm3, P=0.047）. Group 2 didn’t show significant improvement of any variable. CONCLUSION： The loading phase of bevacizumab as monotherapy or combined with SMP is superior to SMP as monotherapy in providing short-term visual and anatomical improvement in non-CI DME.

BACKGROUND Few cases of avulsion fractures of the tibial tuberosity with simultaneous rupture of the patellar tendon have been reported in the ***,its mechanism and incidence have not been determined *** type of fracture is considered a serious injury that requires prompt diagnosis and early surgical *** is no therapeutic algorithm or standard method of treatment due to the infrequency of the *** this case report,we conducted an exhaustive review and synthesis of the existing literature including all previously reported *** SUMMARY We present a 16-year-old male soccer player with a case of a tibial tuberosity fracture with distal avulsion of the patellar tendon 5 d prior to surgical *** patient presented with a loss of the extensor mechanism of the knee,edema,the inability to walk,and pain.X-rays showed a high patella and a 180-degree avulsion of the tibial *** diagnosis was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and computed *** patient underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the fracture with a cannulated screw and washer as well as patellar tendon repair with two metallic *** rehabilitation protocol consisted of initial immobilization in extension followed by passive mobility and muscle strengthening *** patient demonstrated excellent postoperative outcomes and returned to regular activity without *** This case presentation and literature review comprise the most relevant clinical,radiographic,and treatment details described in the international literature to date,providing the reader with an overview of this rare condition.
