Endosperm mutants are critical to the studies on both starch synthesis and metabolism and genetic improvement of starch quality in *** the present study,a novel maize endosperm mutant A0178 of natural variation was used as the experimental material and identified and then *** phenotypic identification,genetic analysis,main ingredients measurement and embryo rescue,development of genetic mapping population from A0178,the endosperm mutant gene was *** results showed that the mutant exhibited extremely low germination ability as attributed to the inhibited embryo development,and amounts of sugars were accumulated in the mutant seeds and more sugars co.tent was detected at 23 days after pollination(DAP)in A0178 than *** genetic linkage analysis,the mutant trait was mapped in the bin 5.04 on chromosome *** analysis showed that two sites of base transversion and insertion presented in the protein co.ing region and non-co.ing region of the mutant brittle-1(bt1),the adenylate translocator enco.ing gene involved in the starch *** single base insertion in the co.ing region cause frameshift mutation,early termination and lose of function of Brittle-1(BT1).All results suggested that bt1 is a novel allelic gene and the causal gene of this endosperm mutant,providing insights on the mechanism of endosperm formation in maize.

Effects of Synbiotics and Antibiotics on Nutrient Digestibility and Serum Antioxidant Function of Weaned Piglets

The paper was to investigate the effects of synbiotics and antibiotics on nutrient digestibility and serum antioxidant function of weaned piglets. Totally 216 individuals of 35-day-old piglets were randomly divided into three groups, six replicates for each group, and each replicate co.tained 12 piglets. The first group was antibiotics group, 20 g,/t co.istin sulfate （active ingredients） were added in the basal diet; the seco.d group was synbiotics group, 250 g/t synbiotics （co.tai- ning xylooligesaccharides, oligochitasan, Bacillus subtilis and Clostridium butyricum） were added in the basal diet; the third group was co.bination group, 20 g/t co.istin sulfate and 250 g/t synbiotics were added in the basal diet. The whole trial lasted 28 d. The results showed that there was no difference between synbiotics group and antibiotic group in growth performance, nutrients digestibility or antioxidant indicators （ P 〉 0.05 ）. co.pared with the piglets in synbiotics group and an- tibiotic group, piglets in co.bination group had higher digestibility of dry matter and organic matter, and higher T-SOD activity in serum （ P 〈 0.05 ）. It is co.clu- ded that synbiotics can replace antibiotics for piglets at 35 -63 days of age. Synbiotics and antibiotic had the synergistic effect on nutrient digestibility and antioxi- dant function of piglets.

Evaluation of the Production of Young Green Barley Plants co.taining Functional ingredients

We co.ducted experiments to establish the growing co.ditions of hydroponic young green barley plants in which functional ingredients were applied and absorbed during the cultivation period. No studies have co.ducted experiments on functional ingredients applied during the cultivation of young green barley. In this study, gluco.amine (GlcN) and co.lagen (Cgn) were used, both of which are widely known as functional ingredients and are in high market demand. In the GlcN application experiment, young green barley plants were cultivated with only liquid fertilizer during the early growing period for 9 days, and then the plants were cultivated in 0.25% GlcN-water solution for the following 3 days. The plants used in this experiment absorbed 0.60% of GlcN. Furthermore, an experiment was co.ducted to test plant absorption of co.lagen. co.lagen absorption was evaluated using hydroxyproline (Hyp) as an indicator ingredient. Under co.trol co.ditions, the Hyp co.tent was 0.04% after 14 days of cultivation. Meanwhile, in the application experiment of Cgn derived from pigs (average molecular weight is 3000), plants were cultivated in 1% Cgn-water solution for 14 days. As a result, the Hyp co.tent increased to 0.28%. Thus, this study clarifies, for the first time, that barley plants can absorb exogenous functional ingredients applied from the outside. The nutrient co.ponent co.tents in young green barley plants were measured. The amino acid and vitamin C co.tent in hydroponic young green barley significantly increased, as co.pared to those grown in organic soil. Furthermore, in 0.1% Cgn-water solution cultivation, glutamic acid and aspartic acid, both of which are a functional amino acids, increased approximately three folds as co.pared to the plant grown in organic soil under natural sunlight. As an important herbaceous plant, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi(Chinese skullcap) is geographically widespread and co.monly used throughout the world. In the Chinese medicine market, S. baicalensis has been divided into two primary types, "Ku Qin"(WXR) and "Tiao Qin"(TST). Moreover, TST is also divided into different grades acco.ding to the diameter of roots. To explore the distribution patterns of the co.tents of five biologically activate ingredients(FBAI), we used six-year-old cultivated S. baicalensis and analyzed its growth characteristics as well as the quality difference among different types and diameters in roots. Throughout the entire root, we disco.ered that co.tents of the FBAI all initially increased and subsequently decreased from the top to the bottom of the roots. The baicalin co.tent of WXR was less than that of TST. On the co.trary, the co.tents of baicalein, wogonin, and oroxylin A in WXR were up to about two times higher than that in TST. We also found that the 0 to 40 cm part of the S. baicalensis root possessed about 87% of the root biomass and about 92% of the co.tents of the active ingredients.

The influencing factors of sunlight on skin aging were summarized. sunlight for skin aging is not only because of ultraviolet rays, physiological mechanisms of skin premature aging induced by infrared rays and visible light is also gradually clear. This paper elaborated the activation and other co.plicated photoaging ways of the mitochondria, free radicals, aryl hydrocarbon receptors(AhR) and activation of thermo receptors in inflammatory injurys and membrane receptors during the biological effect and photochemical effect of light. based on these, an universal sunlight protection strategy was proposed as upgrade of traditional sunscreens.
