Objective:To study the magnetic resonance imaging apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer and its correlation with tumor ***: Patients with stage II-III breast cancer who intended to receive radical operation for breast cancer in our hospital between May 2015 and February 2018 were selected and divided into the experimental group who accepted neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the control group who received surgery directly according to the adoption of preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy or not in the history data. Experimental group underwent magnetic resonance imaging before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy to measure the ADC, and control group underwent magnetic resonance imaging before surgery to measure the ADC;the tumor tissues surgically removed from the two groups of patients were collected to measure the expression of oncogenes and invasion ***:ADC value of experimental group after neoadjuvant chemotherapy was higher than that before neoadjuvant chemotherapy, ADC value of experimental group before neoadjuvant chemotherapy was not significantly different from that of control group whereas ADC value after neoadjuvant chemotherapy was significantly higher than that of control group;MCM3, CyclinD1, TC-1,β-catenin, YAP and MMP2 mRNA expression levels in surgically removed tumor tissues of experimental group were significantly lower than those of control group whereas CCN5, ARID1A and PDCD4 mRNA expression levels were significantly higher than those of control group;MCM3, CyclinD1, TC-1,β-catenin, YAP and MMP2 mRNA expression levels in tumor tissues with high ADC value were significantly lower than those in tumor tissues with low ADC value whereas CCN5, ARID1A and PDCD4 mRNA expression levels were significantly higher than those in tumor tissues with low ADC ***:The increase of ADC after breast cancer neoadjuvant chemotherapy is related to the activity of cancer ce

Curcumin is widely reported to have remarkable medicinal- and antineoplastic- properties. This review details curcumin's relationship with radiotherapy(RT), principally as a radiosensitizer for various malignancies and a radioprotector for normal tissues. First, examples of radiosensitization are provided for various cancers:Pediatric, lymphoma, sarcoma, prostate, gynecologic, pancreas, liver, colorectal, breast, lung, head/neck, and glioma. It is not the purpose of this article to comprehensively review all radiosensitization data; however, high-quality studies are discussed in relationship to currently-controversial RT questions for many cancers, and thus the importance of developing a natural radiosensitizer. Attention is then shifted to radioprotection, for which supporting research is discussed for the following RT toxicities: Dermatitis, pneumonitis, cataractogenesis, neurocognition, myelosuppression, secondary malignancies, and mucositis/enteritis. Though there is fewer data for radioprotection, the overall quality of clinical evidence is higher, and small clinical trials implicating the efficacy of curcumin for RT toxicities(vs placebo/current therapies) are also detailed. Though the overall level of evidence for curcumin as a radiosensitizer and radioprotector is low, it must be recognized that risks of adverse effects are exceedingly low, and clinicians may need to judge the yet-unproven rewards with low toxicity risks.

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular side effects occur frequently during anti-cancer treatment, and there is a growing concern that they may lead to premature morbidity and death. CASE SUMMARY A 32-year-old woman was diagnosed with breast cancer. After comprehensive treatment with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy, postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy, and endocrine therapy, her breast cancer was cured. However, heart failure associated with anti-cancer treatment presented, most probably related to chemotherapy containing anthracycline. After active treatment, her cardiac function returned to normal. Unfortunately, follow-up visits revealed a second primary malignancy, lymphoma. After multiple courses of chemotherapy combined with targeted therapy, her lymphoma acquired complete remission and no cardiotoxicity was observed again. Heart failure related to breast treatment may be reversible. CONCLUSION Using alternatives to anthracycline in patients with lymphoma who are at risk of cardiac failure may preserve cardiac function.

Tubular adenomas, also called “pure adenomas”, are uncommon benign lesions of the breast which is characterized histologically by a circumscribed mass consisting of prominent lobular proliferation and closely packed small ducts with minimal supporting stroma [1] [2]. These uniformly sized ducts are lined by single layers of epithelium and myoepithelium. They mainly appear in young women, rarely occurring in the elderly?[1]?[3]-[5]. Tubular adenoma must be differentiated from other benign lesions (fibroadenoma) and from malignant breast cancer (tubular carcinoma). Preoperative diagnosis is often difficult, but the histologic diagnosis of tubular adenoma would be an acceptable diagnosis after needle core biopsy. Both radiologic and cytohistologic examinations performed before surgery may be not diagnostic and surgical excision is necessary in order to reach a precise diagnosis and a definitive treatment. We report a case of tubular adenoma of the breast in a 62-year-old woman preoperatively diagnosed as a breast tubular adenoma by Ultrasuond-guided core biopsy.

AIM:To develop a method of delivering an eradicative high radiotherapeutic dose safely preserving the surrounding skin in the treatment of internal mammary lymph node metastasis (IMLNM) of breast cancer. METHODS:We report a 38-year-old female patient with a solo IMLNM showing no response to 60 Gy in 2.5 Gy fractions of external beam radiotherapy. To eradicate this tumor, a boost brachytherapy plan was created after percutaneous insertion of an applicator needle into the IMLNM lesion avoiding the pleura and vessels under ultrasound monitoring. According to the dose distribution, the required thickness of a spacer between the skin and the tumor was determined, and hyaluronic gel was injected up to this thickness under ultrasound monitoring. We evaluated skin doses, target doses and clinical outcome. RESULTS:All procedures were performed easily. Sixteen Gy (34.7 Gy equivalent in 2 Gy fractions calculated by the linear quadratic model at α/β = 10:EQ 2, α/β = 10 , cumulative total was 101.9 Gy EQ 10) to 100% of the target volume was irradiated with cumulative maximum skin dose of 70 Gy EQ 2, α/β = 3 which was 98.7 Gy EQ 2, α/β = 3 without spacer. No procedure related-or late complications and no local recurrence at the treated site were observed for three years until expiration. CONCLUSION:We consider that this procedure will provide an eradicative high-dose irradiation to IMLNM of breast cancer, preserving skin from overdose complications.

Background:?Women undergoing mastectomy may have postural asymmetries due to mutilation, culminating in changes in postural balance. Aim:?This study aimed to evaluate the influence of the mastectomy in the postural control of women undergoing surgical treatment of breast cancer. Methods: We evaluated 40 volunteers divided into two groups: women undergoing mastectomy (MG) with a mean age of 51.45 (SD 6.49) years old and mean BMI of 30.71 (SD 5.21) kg/m2, and a control group of women without the disease (CG) with a mean age of 50.50 (SD 7.85) years old and mean BMI of 30.50 (SD 5.77). Static balance was assessed using the displacement of the center of pressure (COP), with voluntary bipedal support with eyes open and closed on a force platform. Statistical analysis was performed using the software SPSS 21.0 with a significance level of 5%. Results: The MG showed an increase in the displacement area along the x-axis (P?= 0.003) and total displacement (P?surgery for unilateral mastectomy may significantly alter postural control in women with breast cancer.

Objective: To review the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognoses of abdominal wall endometriosis(AWE).Methods: A retrospective study of 101 cases of AWE from 1992 to 2005 at Obstetric and gynecologic department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital was performed. Ninety-eight patients had a history of caesarean section. The mean age of the patients was (33.3±4.8) years and the average size of the mass was 1.5 cm. Abdominal wall mass associated pain during the menstrual cycle was noticed in 89.8% of the patients. The occurrence of AWE after caesarean section was 0.05% at our hospital. In patients without pelvic endometriosis or adenomyosis, 20.5% were presented with high CA125 >35 U/ml and the highest one was 93.4 U/ml. 92.1% of patients were diagnosed before surgery. 4 patients were administrated first in General Surgical department with painless abdominal mass. Medication was adopted in 16 cases pre-operatively and 14 cases ***: The mean size of the resected mass was 4.2 cm, significantly larger than the estimation with palpation or ultrasonography, which was 0.8-1.2 cm (P=0.006, Psurgery. 2 of them received medication and 5 of them received second ***: Ultrasonography can be used to evaluate the size of the mass and the infiltrative scope pre-operation. The serum CA125 is not specific for diagnosis of AWE. Complete eradication of the lesion with at least 1 cm beyond the edge of the mass is recommended as the primary treatment. Eradication should be considered also in recurrent cases. It may transform to malignant lesions after multiple recurrence.
