In 2022,a global outbreak of Mpox(formerly monkeypox)occurred in various countries across Europe and America and rapidly spread to more than 100 countries and *** World Health Organization declared the outbreak to be a public health emergency of international concern due to the rapid spread of the Mpox ***,nations intensified their efforts to explore treatment strategies aimed at combating the infection and its ***,the available therapeutic options for Mpox virus infection remain *** far,only a few numbers of antiviral compounds have been approved by regulatory *** the high mutability of the Mpox virus,certain mutant strains have shown resistance to existing pharmaceutical *** highlights the urgent need to develop novel antiviral drugs that can combat both drug resistance and the potential threat of ***,there is a lack of comprehensive literature on the pathophysiology and treatment of *** address this issue,we conducted a review covering the physiological and pathological processes of Mpox infection,summarizing the latest progress of anti-Mpox *** analysis encompasses approved drugs currently employed in clinical settings,as well as newly identified small-molecule compounds and antibody drugs displaying potential antiviral efficacy against ***,we have gained valuable insights from the process of Mpox drug development,including strategies for repurposing drugs,the discovery of drug targets driven by artificial intelligence,and preclinical drug *** purpose of this review is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge on Mpox.

Attributable liver cancer deaths and disability-adjusted life years in China and worldwide: profiles and changing trends

Objective: Liver cancer is a major health concern globally and in China. This analysis investigated deaths and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs) with respect to etiologies and risk factors for liver cancer in China and ***: Global and China-specific data were collected on liver cancer deaths, DALYs, and age-standardized rates(ASRs) from the Global Burden of disease Study 2019 database. Liver cancer etiologies were classified into five groups and risk factors were categorized into three levels. Each proportion of liver cancer burden was calculated in different geographic regions. The joinpoint regression model were used to assess the trends from 1990±***: Liver cancer accounted for 484,577 deaths worldwide in 2019 with an ASR of 5.9 per 100,000 population. China had an elevated liver cancer death ASR in 2019 and males had an ASR 1.7 times the global rate. The global ASR for DALYs peaked at 75±79 years of age but peaked earlier in China. Hepatitis B virus was the prominent etiology globally(39.5%) and in China(62.5%), followed by hepatitis C virus and alcohol consumption. In high sociodemographic index countries, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis has gained an increasing contribution as an etiologic factor. The liver cancer burden due to various etiologies has decreased globally in both genders. However, metabolic risk factors, particularly obesity, have had a growing contribution to the liver cancer burden, especially among ***: Despite an overall decreasing trend in the liver cancer burden in China and worldwide, there has been a rising contribution from metabolic risk factors, highlighting the importance of implementing targeted prevention and control strategies that address regional and gender disparities.

Seasonal flu,primarily caused by influenza A H1N1 and H3N2 subtype viruses or influenza B viruses,is the most prevalent respiratory tract infection globally and leads to substantial morbidity andmortality *** the influenza virus being initially recognized as a respiratory pathogenwithwell-characterized transmission through respiratory droplets,its impact on the ocular epithelium and associated gene expression remains relatively *** this study,we investigated the transcriptional profiles of immortalized human corneal epithelial cells(HCE-S)and A549 human lung epithelial cells infected with H1N1 and H3N2 influenza *** comparison with A549 cells,a reduced number of differentially expressed geneswas observed in HCE-S upon influenza virus ***,there was a significant upregulation of the genes IFI44L and OAS1,along with lower release of the CCL5/RANTES ***,our findings revealed uniquely upregulated LGALS9(encoding galectin-9)in HCE-S following infection with the 2009 pandemic H1N1 ***,targeted knockdown of LGALS9 in these cells resulted in a measurable decrease in viral infection,highlighting its role in the cellular responses to influenza virus and suggesting a novel avenue for antiviral ***,our findings provide insight into the distinct mechanisms of influenza virus interactions with different epithelial cells and underscore the importance of studying the ocular surface in understanding influenza pathogenesis.

Incidence and predictors of futile recanalisation after endovascular therapy in acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion patients:insight from the ANGEL-ACT registry

Objectives To identify the occurrence rate and predictors of futile recanalisation after endovascular therapy(EVT)for acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion(VBAO).Methods Participants of the Endovascular Treatment Key Technique and Emergency Workflow Improvement of Acute Ischaemic Stroke(ANGEL-ACT)registry were selected for the *** recanalisation was defined as patients did not achieve a 90-day good outcome(modified Rankin Scale≤3)despite successful recanalisation(modified Treatment in Cerebral Ischaemia Scale≥2b)after the *** logistic regression analysis was conducted to find independent predictors of futile recanalisation in VBAO patients undergoing *** Three hundred and fifteen patients with VBAO who achieved successful recanalisation after EVT were included in current analysis,of whom,155(49.2%)suffered futile recanalisation,and 160 achieved effective *** the multivariable analysis,we found admission national Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)≥19(OR 4.81,95%CI 2.76 to 8.39,p<0.001),platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)≥162.2(OR 1.93,95%CI 1.14 to 3.27,p=0.001),onset-to-puncture time(OTP)≥334min(OR 2.15,95%CI 1.25 to 3.68,p=0.005)and use of general anesthesia(GA)(OR 1.87,95%CI 1.09 to 3.22,p=0.024)were associated with futile *** Futile recanalisation after EVT occurred 49.2%of VBAO patients in the ANGEL-ACT ***≥19,PLR≥162.2,OTP≥334min and use of GA were independent predictors of futile recanalisation.
