Background:The Savanna Nightjar(Caprimulgus affinis)is a widespread,polytypic species which was previously treated as two or three *** is currently treated as a single species based on superficial similarity of their songs but no detailed comparisons of the songs in this complex have been ***:A total of 15 acoustic variables were measured for the songs of 86 individuals representing 8 of the 10 subspecies in the ***:Three major groups can be distinguished based on univariate and multivariate analyses:a northern group consisting of the subspecies ***,*** and ***;a southern group consisting of ***,***,*** and ***;and a third group in the Philippines consisting of ***:It is here argued that these groups are best treated as species,and that Franklin's Nightjar(***)and Kayumanggi Nightjar(***)are reinstated as separate species.

Microbiologically induced corrosion of concrete （MICC） and its protective coatings has a high eco-nomic impact on sewer maintenance and rehabilitation. A better understanding of the micro-organisms and the bio- genie acids that are generated in the sewer is essential in controlling the corrosion of concrete pipes and protective coatings. The role of succession of micro-organisms growth in the corrosion of concrete and protective coatings was evaluated in this study. Examination of various sewer pipe materials exhibiting various extents of degradation, including concrete, cement based and epoxy based coating revealed the presence of both organic and biogenic sulphuric acids. This reflects the activity of fungi and the thiobacilli strains. Organism growth and metabolism were strongly related to the substrate pH. Fungi were found to grow and metabolise organic acids at pH from 2.0-8.0. Whilst the thiobacilli strains grew and generated sulohuric acids at oH below 3.0. The successive growth of the organisms provides an impgrtant bearing in deyeloping improved *** better manage sewers.

The ground state properties of deformed nuclei of C isotope are investigated by the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock theory with new force parameters SKI4 of Reinhard and Flocard[***.A 584(1995)467].Calculations show that the deformed-Skyrme-Hartree-Fock theory with above force parameters provides a good description on the binding energy,the various radii and deformation parameters of C *** figure of the evolution of deformation for whole C isotope chain is plotted.A detailed discussion on numerical results is provided in the paper.

In general, the energy storage in facilities to intermittent sources is provided by a battery of accumulators. Having found that the duration of life of chemical accumulators is strongly shortened in the northern regions of Cameroon and that this has a considerable impact on the operating costs and the reliability of power plants to intermittent sources, this work proposes to find an alternative to these chemical accumulators rendered vulnerable by the high temperatures. It reviews all energy storage techniques and makes a choice （the CAES （compressed air energy storage）） based on thermal robustness. It proposes a new technique of restitution of the energy by producing an artificial wind from the compressed air. The feedback loop thus obtained by the compressor-tank-wind subsystem is studied from a series of manipulations and its efficiency is determined. To automate the operation of this system, a controller is required. The operating logic of the controller is provided in function of the precise states of the load, the tank and the natural sources.

The Phytochemical and Antioxidant Characteristics of Fermented Jackfruit （Artocarpus heterophyllus L.） Leaves Using Single and Mixed Starter Culture

The phytochemical and antioxidant properties of fermented jackfruit leaves, using yeast and acetic acid bacteria, individually or in combination during 6 days of fermentation were investigated in the present study. Changes in pH, total reducing sugar, ethanol, acetic acid, total phenolics and flavanoids content were examined. A number of antioxidant activities such as ferric reducing antioxidant power （FRAP） and DPPH free radical scavenging activities were comparatively tested to determine the differences in the respective properties during the fermentation process. Results obtained demonstrated that there were differences in the phytochemical and antioxidant properties of fermented jackfruit leaves, depending on the fermentation starters. Fermented leaves using acetic acid bacteria alone, exhibited higher total reducing sugar （6.89 mg glucose/mL） compared to others. The ferric-reducing activities of fermented jackfruit leaves showed an increasing trend in the yeast fermentation process （5.96-10.12 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/mL）. Generally, all extracts of fermented jackfruit leaves exhibited stronger DPPH radical scavenging activity except in the total phenolics and flavonoids content, whereby it showed a decrease trend throughout the fermentation process.

Abstract The possibility of QQqq heavy-light four-quark bound states has been analyzed by means of the chiral SU（3） quark model, where Q is the heavy quark （c or b） and q is the light quark （u, d, or s）. We obtain a bound state for the bbnn configuration with quantum number JR=1^＋, I = 0 and for the ccnn （JR=1^＋, I=O） configuration, which is not bound but slightly above the D^＊ D^＊ threshold （n is u or d quark）. Meanwhile, we also conclude that a weakly bound state in bbnn system can also be found without considering the ehiral quark interactions between the two light quarks, yet its binding energy is weaker than that with the chiral quark interactions.

Heat Transfer Validation and Comparative Evaluation of Biochar Yield from Pyrolysis Cook Stove

The developing world still largely depends on biomass, such as wood, animal dung and agricultural waste for domestic fuel sources that are typically burned in traditional stoves. Ethiopia has different biomass resource for biochar production, through pyrolysis cook stove co-producing biochar. Coffee husks are the major solid residues from the handling and processing of coffee in the study area. This study was to evaluate the biochar co-producing pyrolysis cook stove with respect to heat transfer through the bed and biochar yield. From allothermal type of pyrolysis cook stove, the stove design was selected for both the computational fluid dynamic （CFD） simulation and experimental measurements. ANSYS 14.5 was used for CFD simulation of the wood combustion. The production of biochar from coffee husk, corncob and sawdust at different heating times, bed and stove surface temperature were undertaken. Bulk density, pH and surface area of the biochar were measured. While good agreement between simulation and experimental result was obtained in the conduction phase during pyrolysis, deviation between the two on account of the effect of volatile gas in changing the temperature trend within the biomass bed was noticed. Within the biomass type, the maximum mean biochar yield （38.91%） was seen from coffee husk. In the case of different stove designs, the minimum mean biochar yield （27.11%） was found from normal Anila stove. The pH of biochar is found to be significantly affected by the type of biomass （9.83 mean for corncob and coffee husk, 6.43 mean for sawdust）, heating time （9.19 mean for 90 min and 8.01 mean for 30 min） and stove type （9.52 mean for normal Anila and 8.01 mean for flangeless Anila continuous feeding type）. In fact, the type of biomass is observed to significantly affect the bulk density and surface area ofbiochar.

Structural and Geochronological Evidence for Multiple Episodes of Tertiary Deformation along the Ailaoshan-Red River Shear Zone, Southeastern Asia, Since the Paleocene

Structural analyses show that the Ailaoshan-Red River shear zone （ASRRSZ） in Ailao Mountain is composed of three different deformational domains. These domains may represent three episodes of left-lateral slip experienced by the ASRRSZ. The first episode of such deformation occurred throughout the eastern high-grade belt of the ASRRSZ under a transtensional regime and produced L- type tectonites of amphibolite grade. The second episode of left-lateral slip formed high strain zones overprinting the high-grade belt. Its deformational mechanism is similar to simple shear and the deformed rocks are L-S mylonites of greenschist grade. The third episode of left-lateral slip took place chiefly in a western low-grade belt of the ASRRSZ. This deformation occurred in a transpressional regime, formed an overall structure pattern of a sinistral thrust system and produced phyllonites of low-greenschist grade. Geochronological data indicated that the three episodes of left-lateral slip happened before ～58-56 Ma, at least from ～27 Ma to 22 Ma and at ～13-12 Ma respectively. The first episode of slip in the ASRRSZ appeared to correspond to the initial collision of India and Asia at ～60 Ma. The second episode took place almost at the same time as the most intensive compression and uplift in Tibet. The latest event might represent a further eastward material flow in Tibet after ～16-13 Ma. Thus, the ASRRSZ of southeastern Asia probably experienced three main episodes of Tertiary left- lateral slip in the course of intracontinental convergence since the India-Asia collision.

Superconducting Properties and Microstructure in MgB_2 Bulks, Wires and Tapes

We prepared a series of MgB2 bulk samples under different temperatures, holding time and increasing rates in temperature by the solid state reaction. The thermodynamic behavior and phase formation in the Mg-B system were studied by using DTA, XRD and SEM. The results indicate that the formation of the MgB2 phase is very fast and the high increasing rate in temperature is necessary to obtain high quality MgB2. In addition, the effects of the Zr-doping in Mg1-xZrxB2 bulk samples fabricated by the solid state reaction at ambient pressure on phase compositions, microstructure and flux pinning behavior were investigated by using XRD, SQUID magnetometer, SEM and TEM. Critical current density Jc can be significantly enhanced by the Zr-doping and the best data are achieved in Mg0.9Zr0.1B2. For this sample, Jc values are remarkably improved to 1. 83 × 106 A/cm2 in self-field and 5. 51 × 105 A/cm2in 1T at 20K. Also, high quality MgB2/Ta/Cu wires and tapes with and without Ti-doping, MgB2/Fe wires and 18 filament MgB2/NbZr/Cu tapes were fabricated by the powder-in-tube (PIT) method at ambient pressure. The phase compositions, microstructure features and flux pinning properties were studied. The results suggest that Fe is the best metal for these sheaths. MgB2/Fe wires exhibit very high Jc at high temperatures and high fields. Jc values reach as high as 1.43 × 105A/cm2(4. 2K, 4T) and 3.72 × 104 A/cm2(15K, 4T).
