We consider how small delays affect the integral-input-to-state stability(iss)property for a *** result is similar to the input-to-state stability(Iss)result obtained in[1]:the iss property will be preserved in a practical and semi-global manner if the delay interval is small ***,since the iss quantifies the robust stability in terms of a generalized Li norm of the inputs instead of a generalized Loo norm of the inputs for the Iss case,the techniques and proofs for the Iss case do not apply to the iss case *** the proofs in[1]are based on the Lyapunov-Razumikhin approach,our proofs are based on the iss-Lyapunov functions for the zero-delay *** addition to the interest by its own in showing how the iss property is affected by small delays,the result also serves to the study of the iss property for singularly perturbed systems.

Monitoring temporal changes in sea level is important in assessing coastal *** level anomalies at a tide gauge station,if kinematically conceived,include systematic variations such as trend,acceleration,periodic oscillations,and random *** them,the non-stationary nature of the random sea level variations of known or unknown origin at coastal regions has been long recognized by the sea level *** study proposes the analyses of subgroups of random residual statistics of a rigorously formulated kinematic model solution of tide gauge variations using X-bar and S control *** approach is demonstrated using Key West,Florida tide gauge *** mean and standard errors of 5-year-long subgroups of the residuals revealed that sea level changes at this location have been progressively intensifying from 1913 to the *** oscillations in sea level at this locality may be attributed partly to the thermal expansion of seawater with increasing temperatures causing larger buoyancy-related sea level fluctuations as well as the intensification of atmospheric events including wind patterns and the impact of changes in inverted barometer effects that will alter coastal risk assessments for the future.

A means to develop a comparative assessment of the risks of available wastewater effluent disposal options on a local scale needs to be developed to help local decision-makers make decisions on options such as direct or indirect potable reuse options. These options have garnered more interest as a result of water supply limitations in many urban areas. This risk assessment was developed from a risk assessment developed at the University of Miami in 2001 and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2023. Direct potable reuse and injection wells were deemed to have the lowest risk in the most recent study by FAU. However, the injection well option may not be available everywhere. As a result, a more local means to assess exposure risk is needed. This paper outlines the process to evaluate the public health risks associated with available disposal alternatives which may be very limited in some areas. The development of exposure pathways can help local decision-makers define the challenges, and support later expert level analysis upon which public health decisions are based.

Effectiveness of Wastewater-Based Epidemiology as an Early Warning Tool to Detect SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

Medical diagnostic tests to detect Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) for individuals in the United States were initially limited to people who were traveling or symptomatic to track disease incidence due to the cost of providing testing for all people in a community on a routine basis. As an alternative to randomly sampling large groups of people to track disease incidence at significant cost, wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) is a well-established and cost-effective technique to passively measure the prevalence of disease in communities without requiring invasive testing. WBE can also be used as a forecasting tool since the virus is shed in individuals prior to developing symptoms that might otherwise prompt testing. This study applied the WBE approach to understand its effectiveness as a possible forecasting tool by monitoring the SARS-CoV-2 levels in raw wastewater sampled from sewer lift stations at a large public university campus setting including dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities. The WBE analysis was conducted by sampling from building-specific lift stations and enumerating target viral copies using RT-qPCR analysis. The WBE results were compared with the 7-day rolling averages of confirmed infected individuals for the following week after the wastewater sample analysis. In most cases, changes in the WBE outcomes were followed by similar trends in the clinical data. The positive predictive value of the applied WBE approach was 86% for the following week of the sample collection. In contrast, positive correlations between the two data with Spearmen correlation (rs) ranged from 0.16 to 0.36. A stronger correlation (rs = 0.18 to 0.51) was observed when WBE results were compared with COVID-19 cases identified on the next day of the sampling events. In this study,model tests were conducted to investigate the bearing capacities of tripod caisson foundations subjected to eccentric lateral loads in silty *** load–rotation curves of five eccentric-shaped tripod suction foundations were plotted to analyze the bearing capacities at different loading *** was observed that the loading angle significantly influenced the bearing capacity of the foundations,particularly for eccentric tripod caisson *** with eccentric tripod caisson foundations,the traditional tripod foundation has a relatively high ultimate lateral capacity at the omnidirectional loading *** analyzing the displacement of the caissons,a formula for the rotational center of the tripod caisson foundation subjected to an eccentric lateral load was *** depth of the rotation center was 0.68–0.92 times the height of the caisson when the bearing capacity reached the *** the undrained condition,suction was generated under the lid of the“up-lift”caisson,which helps resist lateral forces from the wind and waves.

Since the introduction of Bitcoin,numerous studies on Bitcoin mining attacks have been conducted,and as a result,many countermeasures to these attacks have been *** reputation-based mining paradigm is a comprehensive countermeasure solution to this problem with the goal of regulating the mining process and preventing mining *** is accomplished by incentivizing miners to avoid dishonest mining strategies using reward and punishment *** model was validated solely based on game theoretical analyses,and the real-world implications of this model are not known due to the lack of empirical *** shed light on this issue,we designed a simulated mining platform to examine the effectiveness of the reputation-based mining paradigm through data *** implemented block withholding attacks in our simulation and ran the following three scenarios:Reputation mode,non-reputation mode,and no attack *** comparing the results from these three scenarios,interestingly,we found that the reputation-based mining paradigm decreases the number of block withholding attacks,and as a result,the actual revenue of individual miners becomes closer to their theoretical expected *** addition,we observed that the confidence interval test can effectively detect block withholding attacks;however,the test also results in a small number of false positive *** the effectiveness of the reputation-based model relies on attack detection,further research is needed to investigate the effect of this model on other dishonest mining strategies.

Recent years have witnessed the increasing popularity of mobile and networking devices,as well as social networking sites,where users engage in a variety of activities in the cyberspace on a daily and real-time *** such systems provide tremendous convenience and enjoyment for users,malicious usages,such as bullying,cruelty,extremism,and toxicity behaviors,also grow noticeably,and impose significant threats to individuals and *** this paper,we review computational approaches for cyberbullying and cyberviolence detection,in order to understand two major factors:1)What are the defining features of online bullying users,and 2)How to detect cyberbullying and *** achieve the goal,we propose a user-activities-content(UAC)triangular view,which defines that users in the cyberspace are centered around the UAC triangle to carry out activities and generate ***,we categorize cyberbully features into three main categories:1)User centered features,2)Content centered features,and 3)Activity centered *** that,we review methods for cyberbully detection,by taking supervised,unsupervised,transfer learning,and deep learning,etc.,into *** UAC centered view provides a coherent and complete summary about features and characteristics of online users(their activities),approaches to detect bullying users(and malicious content),and helps defend cyberspace from bullying and toxicity.
