Logit regression analysis is widely applied in scientific studies and laboratory experiments, where skewed observations on a data set are often encountered. A number of problems with this method, for example, oudiers and influential observations, can cause overdispersion when a model is fitted. In this study a systematic statistical approach, including the plotting of several indices is used to diagnose the lack-of-fit of a logistic regression model. The outliers and influential observations on data from laboratory experiments are then detected. Specifically we take account of the interaction of an internal sohtary wave （ISW） with an obstacle, i.e., an underwater ridge, and also analyze the effects of the ridge height, the lower layer water depth, and the potential energy on the amplitude-based transmission rate of the ISW. As concluded, the goodness-of-fit of the revised logit regression model is better than that of the model without this approach.

This study conducted in Lima, Peru, a combination of spatial decisionmaking system and machine learning was utilized to identify potentialsolar power plant construction sites within the city. Sundial measurementsof solar radiation, precipitation, temperature, and altitude were collectedfor the study. Gene Expression programming (GEP), which is based on theevolution of intelligent models, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) wereboth utilized in this investigation, and the results obtained from each werecompared. Eighty percent of the data was utilized during the training phase,while the remaining twenty percent was utilized during the testing phase. Onthe basis of the findings, it was determined that the GEP is the most suitablenetwork for predicting the location. The test state’s Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE) was 0.90, and its root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.04. Followingthe generation of the final map based on the results of the GEP model, itwas determined that 9.2% of the province’s study area is suitable for theconstruction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 53.5% is acceptable and37.3% is unsuitable. The ANN model reveals that only 1.7% of the study areais suitable for the construction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 66.8%is acceptable and 31.5% is unsuitable.

The cofiring of biomass and coal may be one of the most effective methods to improve energy utilization efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas *** study aims to investigate combustion performance,interaction and synergistic effects in the cofiring of coal and three types of *** fuel consisting of coal and three types of biomass such as sawdust,rice husk and solid recovery fuel was selected as the research *** and proximate analysis and differential thermogravimetric analysis with heating rates of between 10°C and 40°C/minute are used to analyse combustion *** of combustion in a 600-MWe steam power plant with a Carolina-type boiler is also carried out with the help of computational fluid dynamic(CFD)analysis to see the effect of the interaction and synergy of the mixed fuel on the performance of the steam *** effect on the com-bustion process in the combustion chamber of a steam power plant is also *** on the analysis of several test results of parameters such as ignition temperature,burnout temperature,calorific value of the fuel mixtures as well as CFD simulation,the results of the study show a strong indication of a positive synergy in mixing some of these biomasses as compared with a fuel mix-ture consisting only of coal and one type of *** no power derating of the boiler occurs until the biomass content in the fuel mixture is~30%on a mass *** reduction in greenhouse gas emissions also appears significant from the results of the CFD simulation of this study,which is characterized by a decrease in the fraction of CO_(2) in flue gas from 21.5%for coal alone as fuel to 15.9%in the case of cofiring excluding the CO_(2) attributed to the biomass.

Background:In the context of the search for cost-efficient treatments,Ulmo(Eurcyphia cordifolia)honey is an excellent alternative for treating burn wounds and could have a profound medical,social,and economic *** acid is an enzymatic co-factor necessary for the synthesis of collagen and the proliferation of fibroblasts and has been proposed as a coadjuvant to strengthen the healing effects of *** aim of this work was to evaluate by morphometric studies the healing wounds caused by burns treated with Ulmo honey alone and supplemented with ascorbic acid in guinea pig(Cavia porcellus).Methods:Fifteen guinea pigs were used and divided randomly into three groups:positive control(C+),experimental with unsupplemented honey(H),and experimental with supplemented honey(SH).A uniform deep burn covering 1 cm2of the back skin was *** following indices were calculated for the morphometric study:superficial contraction index of the wound,deep contraction index of the wound,wound severity index,global healing index,global contraction index,and dermal proliferation ***:The superficial contraction index of the wound,global healing index,global contraction,and dermal proliferation area values of the experimental with supplemented honey group were higher than the other groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:According to these results,the combination of honey with an antioxidant(ascorbic acid)promotes an appropriate action to support the healing *** study showed that by supplementing the Ulmo honey with ascorbic acid,the healing and contraction effects can be strengthened in burn wounds compared to unsupplemented *** results were proof of the synergy between honey and ascorbic acid in healing burn wounds.

This study describes the application of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry （ESI-MS） to investigate copper ion interaction with amoxicillin. ESI mass spectra of Cu-amoxicillin complexes show complex ions at m/z 828, 792, 753, 731,428, 388 and 366 corresponding to [63Cu＋（2A-H）＋2H2O]＋, [63Cu＋（2A-H）]＋, [2A＋Na]＋, [2A＋H]＊, [63Cu＋（A-H）]~, [A＋Na]~ and [A＋H]＋（where A = amoxicillin）. Based on the observed m/z values of Cu-amoxicillin complex ions, it is found that the Cu-amoxicillin ratios are 1：1 and 1：2, and the copper ions exhibited three feasible coordination numbers （2, 4 and 6） with arnoxicillin complexes. The structures and coordination numbers of copper-arnoxicillin complex ions were probed from their collisionally activated dissociation （CAD） spectra. Based on these results, it is confirmed that the copper ions could form stable tetrahedral and octahedral complexes with amoxicillin. This study validates the annlicabilitv of ESI-MS for nrobin; CODDer-amoxicillin comDlex ions.

Racial disparity in years of potential life lost to induced abortions

The magnitude of the overall prevalence and racial disparity in induced abortion suggests that it is a major influence on the demographic and socioeconomic composition of the population of the United States (US). However, the years of potential lives averted by induced abortion have not been systematically studied. We applied race-specific intra-uterine death estimates to the induced abortions occurring to non-Hispanic (NH) white and non-Hispanic (NH) black women in the US state of North Carolina in 2008. The resultant estimate of births averted by induced abortion was used to project years of potential life lost. All-cause detailed mortality data were used to compare induced abortion with other contributing causes of years of potential life lost before age 75 (YPLL 75). For NH whites, induced abortions in 2008 contributed 59% of total YPLL 75, and 1.5 times the total YPLL 75 from all other causes combined. For NH blacks, induced abortions in 2008 contributed 76% of total YPLL 75 and 3.2 times the total YPLL 75 from all other causes combined. Induced abortion is the overwhelmingly predominant contributing cause of preventable potential lives lost in the North Carolina population, and NH blacks are disproportionately affected.

In this paper,a 3D upstream finite element method is developed to analyze the ionized electric field around the UHVDC transmission lines including the building near *** ionized electric field around the building is reduced due to the shielding effect of the building and the shielding distance is about three times its *** ionized electric field including the human body model on the building and away from the building is also taken into *** ionized electric field distortion ratio of the human body model is discussed in this *** distortion ratios for the positions on the building are less than those on the ground.

This paper investigates the changing sources of growth in post-reform China. Using crossprovince regressions, this paper finds that, in earlier periods, exports, foreign direct investment and marketization were significantly related to per capita income growth, whereas＇ since the late 1990s, foreign direct investment and marketization have lost their significance and have been replaced by new sources of growth, such as innovation and knowledge, with only exports continuing to be important. This finding is robust after controlling for other variables representing other economic policies and provincial characteristics. We also tackle the possible endogeneity of innovation variables using the instrumental variables estimation method.
