Osteoarthritis and psoriasis arthritis are two degenerative forms of arthritis that share similar yet also different manifestations at the histological,cellular,and clinical *** have marked them as two entirely distinct *** recent dis-coveries in disease initiation and progression,potential mechanisms,cellular signaling path-ways,and ongoing clinical therapeutics,there are now more opportunities for discovering osteoarthritis *** review summarized the osteoarthritis and psoriasis arthritis signaling pathways,crosstalk between BMP,WNT,TGF-β,VEGF,TLR,and FGF signaling pathways,bio-markers,and anatomical *** bench research,we demonstrated that regen-erative medicine is a promising alternative for treating osteoarthritis by highlighting significant sci.ntific discoveries on entheses,multiple signaling blockers,and novel molecules such as immunoglobulin new antigen receptors targeted for potential drug ***,we offered valuable therapeutic approaches with a multidisci.linary strategy to treat patients with osteoarthritis or psoriasis arthritis in the coming future in the clinic.

OsNAC5 orchestrates OsABI5 to fine-tune cold tolerance in rice

Due to its tropical origins,rice(Oryza sativa)is susceptible to cold stress,which poses severe threats to ***5,a NAC-type transcription factor,participates in the cold stress response of rice,but the detailed mechanisms remain poorly ***,we demonstrate that OsNAC5 positively regulates cold tolerance at germination and in seedlings by directly activating the expression of ABsci.IC ACID INSENSITIVE 5(OsABI5).Haplotype analysis indicated that single nucleotide polymorphisms in a NAC-binding site in the OsABI5 promoter are strongly associated with cold ***5 also enhanced OsABI5 stability,thus regulating the expression of cold-responsive(COR)genes,enabling fine-tuned control of OsABI5 action for rapid,precise plant responses to cold *** affinity purification sequencing coupled with transcriptome deep sequencing identified several OsABI5 target genes involved in COR expression,including DEHYDRATION-RESPONSIVE ELEMENT BINDING FACTOR 1A(OsDREB1A),OsMYB20,and PEROXIDASE 70(OsPRX70).In vivo and in vitro analyses suggested that OsABI5 positively regulates COR gene transcription,with marked COR upregulation in OsNAC5-overexpressing lines and downregulation in osnac5 and/or osabi5 knockout *** study extends our understanding of cold tolerance regulation via OsNAC5 through the OsABI5-CORs transcription module,which may be used to ameliorate cold tolerance in rice via advanced breeding.

Decolorization of Direct Black 22 by Aspergillus ficuum

The decolorization of Direct Black 22 by Aspergillus ficuum has been studied. It was found that Aspergillus ficuum could effectively decolorize Direct Black 22 especially when grown as pelleted mycelia. Results showed that the media containing Direct Black 22 at 50 mg/L could be decolorized by 98.05% of the initial color in 24 h. The optimum pH and temperature of decolorization are 4.0 and 33 °C respectively. Aeration was quite beneficial to decolorization. Medium composition and the concentration of Direct Black 22 could affect the rate of decolorization. The dye degraded products assayed by UV-visible spectrophotometer and macroscopic observation showed that the decolorization of Direct Black 22 by mycelial pellets includes two important processes: bioadsorption and biodegradation. The degradation experiment agree with the Michaelis-Menten kinetics equation.

Aluminizing coating and aluminizing-dispersed Y 2O 3 composite coating were prepared on 20 steel specimens by pulsed spark technique, which exhibited a micro-crystallized structure with grain size in the range of several ten to several hundred nanometers. It is shown that, after oxidation at 600 ℃ in air for 100 h, these two kinds of coatings have excellent resistance to high temperature oxidation and scale spallation, and the aluminizing-dispersed Y 2O 3 composite coating has even better property than the aluminizing coating. AFM, SEM, EDS and XRD were applied to analyze the surface morphology, composition and phases structure of these coatings and the oxide scale formed in oxidation. The mechanism for these coatings that how to enhance the oxidation resistance and scale spallation resistance was discussed by considering the factors, such as Al concentration on the selective oxidation of Fe-Al alloy, the effect of micro-crystallization, reactive element effect (REE) caused by dispersed Y 2O 3, etc.

Study on Microbes and Their Effects on Rare Earth Extraction in Weathering Crust of Granite

Microbes were cultured from the samples at various dept.s in a weathering profile of RE-bearing granite in Gonghe RE mine, Guangdong Province. The cultured microbes, existing at a dept. of 0.2 similar to 12 in and being more plentiful within 3 in in the profile, include bacteria ( Bacillus, Enterobacter, Escherichia, Alkaligenes, Neisseria, Staphylococcus and anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium), fungi ( Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium, Mucor and Saccharomycete) and actinomyces. Experiments were made under room temperature by using solutions of the cultured microbes and their metabolites, compared with distilled water and the culture solution without microbes, to leach RE from the sample of the weathering crust. The results are shown by the experiments: (1) The mixed microbes cultured from the profile and their metabolites increase the quantity of RE leached from the sample and reduce the pH of the solutions. (2) The ability to leach RE from the sample varies with various microbes, decreasing in a sequence of fungi ( Mucor, saccharomycete, Aspegillus and Penicillium), zymotic bacilli (Enterobacter, Escherichia etc.), Staphylococcus, zymotic Bacillus, actinomyces and Alkaligenes. (3) The RE leached with bacteria is mainly related to the pH value of the solutions influenced by the metabolites of the bacteria; whereas that leached with fungi is mainly related to the adsorption and imbibition of RE by the fungi and the complexing of RE with their metabolites. (4) Compared with that leached with ammonium sulfate, the fractionation of the RE leached with microbes is characterized by higher delta (Ce), lower delta (Eu) and lower ratios of N-La/Sm and N-Gd/Yb . The result of the fractionation of RE accords with the distribution of RE in the various layers of a profile of weathering crust of granite in South China. The production of selenium-enriched fish can contribute to alleviating selenium deficiency in human ***,it is still unclear which selenium source,as an additive,can efficiently and costeffectively produce high-quality selenium-enriched *** study evaluated the effects of selenium nanoparticles(SeNP),selenite,and selenomethionine(SeMet)on the growth,antioxidant capacity,selenium content,selenium speciation,and meat quality of grass *** diets were prepared,including a basal diet(BD)and three concentrations(0.1,0.3,and 0.9 mg/kg)of SeNP,selenite,and SeMet.A total of600 fish(250.79±1.57 g)were randomly assigned to 30 tanks(3 tanks/group).Fish were fed the experimental diet three times daily for 60 *** this study,SeNP most significantly promoted the growth and antioxidant capacity of grass carp,with 0.3 mg/kg SeNP identified as the optimal additive ***,SeNP demonstrated equally excellent bioavailability as SeMet and significantly increased the content of SeMet in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)***,compared to SeMet and selenite,dietary SeNP could more significantly enhance the content of selenocysteine(SeCys2)and methylselenocysteine(MeSeCys)in grass carp muscle *** addition,we have demonstrated that SeCys2and MeSeCys promote apoptosis of cancer cells(HeLa)through the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway(involving Bax and Bcl-2).Furthermore,as an additive,0.3 mg/kg SeNP significantly improved the flesh quality of grass carp by reducing crude fat and heavy metal content,as well as increasing the levels of eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA)and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)and the ratio of n-3/n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid(PUFA).In summary,SeNP is the most suitable additive for producing selenium-enriched fish.

The pittings of five carbon steels have been studied by using anodic polarization test and microscope observation. The results show that pitting susceptibilities are related to the types and shapes of inclusions which are the sites of pitting initiation. The pitting initiating at inclusion needs a potential which is defined as pitting potential and the pitting potential is determined by the type and shape of inclusion. The influence of oxygen content in steel on pitting potential is also discussed.
