We construct a new global optical model potential to describe the elastic scattering of *** experimental data of elastic-scattering angular distributions and total reaction cross sections for targets from 24Mg to 209Bi are considered below 200 MeV within the framework of the optical *** results calculated using the derived global optical potential are then compared with the existing experimental *** reliability of the global optical potential is further tested by predicting the elastic scattering data out of the mass and energy ranges,within which the global potential parameters are determined,and reasonable results are also obtained.

Insects can vary greatly in whole-body elemental concentrations. Recent investigations of insects associated with Ni hyperaccumulator plants have identified insects with relatively elevated whole-body Ni levels. Evaluation of the limited data available indicates that a whole-body Ni concentration of 500μg Ni/g is exceptional： I propose that an insect species with a mean value of 500μg Ni/g or greater, in either larval/nymphal or adult stages, be considered a ＂high-Ni insect＂. Using the 500μg Ni/g criterion, 15 species ofhigh-Ni insects have been identified to date from studies in Mpumalanga （South Africa）, New Caledonia and California （USA）. The highest mean Ni concentration reported is 3 500 μg Ni/g for nymphs of a South African Stenoscepa species （Orthoptera： Pyrgomorphidae）. The majority of high-Ni insects （66%） are heteropteran herbivores. Studies of high-Ni insect host preference indicate they are monophagous （or nearly so） on a particular Ni hyperaccumulator plant species. Much of the Ni in bodies of these insects is in their guts （up to 66%-75%）, but elevated levels have also been found in Malpighian tubules, suggesting efficient elimination as one strategy for dealing with a high-Ni diet. Tissue levels of Ni are generally much lower than gut concentrations, but up to 1200μg Ni/g has been reported from exuviae, suggesting that molting may be another pathway of Ni elimination. One ecological function of the high Ni concentration of these insects may be to defend them against natural enemies, but to date only one experimental test has supported this ＂elemental defense＂ hypothesis. Community-level studies indicate that high-Ni insects mobilize Ni into food webs but that bioaccumulation of Ni does not occur at either plant-herbivore or herbivorepredator steps. Unsurprisingly, Ni bioaccumulation indices are greater for high-Ni insects compared to other insect species that feed on Ni hyperaccumulator plants. There is some evidence of Ni mobilization into food webs

Sprouts are ready-to-eat and are recognized worldwide as functional components of the human *** advances in innovative agricultural techniques could enable an increase in the production of healthy *** use of light-emitting diode(LED)in indoor agricultural production could alter the biological feedback loop,increasing the functional beneﬁts of plant foods such as wheat and lentil sprouts and promoting the bioavailability of *** effects of white(W),red(R),and blue(B)light were investigated on the growth parameters and nutritional value of wheat and lentil *** the laboratory,seeds were sown under three different LED treat-ments:white,red,and blue light,while normal incandescent light served as a *** seed germina-tion improved by 18.34%and 12.67%for wheat and 18.34%and 12.67%for lentil sprouts under LED treatments R and B,*** increase in total soluble protein and sugar by 33.4%and 9.23%in wheat and by 31.5%and 5.87%in lentils was observed under the R LED *** C concentrations in wheat and lentils were signiﬁcantly increased by R LED compared to all other *** parameters,including potassium and sodium concentrations,were signiﬁcantly increased under red and blue light compared to the control;white light,on the other hand,signiﬁcantly decreased all these *** to the experimental data,red and blue LED light could be beneﬁcial in the production of functional wheat and lentil sprouts with high nutrient concentrations.

HAp/Al2O3 composite coating was fabricated onto micro-arc oxidized titanium substrate using a combination of electrophoretic depo-sition and reaction bonding process. SEM, EDS and XRD were employed to characterize the titanium substrate and as-prepared coat-ings. The interfacial bonding strength of the sintered composite coating was tested by shear strength testing experiment. Results show that the green form composite coating can be easily sintered with no cracks and de-composition at 850℃, the bonding strength to the substrate is significantly improved com-pared with the single HAp coating.

Escalating threat of global warming and the steady growth in world population require the development of transformative greenhouse gas control technologies and food production systems of high energy efficiency,small environmental footprint and low *** control the global temperature rise below 2℃ by 2050,global greenhouse gas emissions need to be cut by more than 80%.At the same time,our land needs to be utilized more efficiently and productively in order to produce enough food to feed projected 9 billion people with less available land area for food production in *** propose to develop a modern urban vertical farming system,*** equipped with a Carbon Enrichment for Plant Stimulation(CEPS)system,to enhance land use efficiency and thus increase food productivity and,at the same time,to sequestrate CO_(2) from ambient *** deployment of such a CEPS system will have a potential to remove more than 500 million tonnes CO_(2) from air annually,and increase the current food productivity by more than 15 times than the open field *** deployment of the CEPS technology will also promote locally produced food,benefiting urban economical development and job creation.

We report the present knowledge about RPHM21, a novel male-specific mitochondrial protein with a putative role in the paternal inheritance of sperm mitochondria in the Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum, a species with doubly uniparental inheritance of mitochondria （DUI）. We review all the available data on rphm21 transcription and translation, analyze in detail its female counterpart, RPHF22, discuss the homology with RPHM21, the putative function and origin, and analyze their polymorphism. The available evidence is compatible with a viral origin of RPHM21 and supports its activity during spermatogenesis. RPHM21 is progressively accumulated in mitochondria and nuclei of spermatogenic cells, and we hypothesize it can influence mitochondrial inheritance and sex- ual differentiation. We propose a testable model that describes how the acquisition of selfish fea- tures by a mitochondrial lineage might have been responsible for the emergence of DUI, and for the evolution of separate sexes （gonochorism） from hermaphroditism. The appearance of DUI most likely entailed the invasion of at least 1 selfish element, and the extant DUI systems can be seen as resolved conflicts. It was proposed that hermaphroditism was the ancestral condition of bivalves, and a correlation between DUI and gonochorism was documented. We hypothesize that DUI might have driven the shift from hermaphroditism to gonochorism, with androdioecy as transi- tion state. The invasion of sex-ratio distorters and the evolution of suppressors can prompt rapid changes among sex-determination mechanisms, and DUI might have been responsible for one of such changes in some bivalve species. If true, DUI would represent the first animal sex-determination system involving mtDNA-encoded proteins.

Carbon capture and storage （CCS） technology will play a critical role in reducing anthropogenic carbondioxide （CO2） emission from fossil-fired power plants and other energy-intensive processes. However, theincrement of energy cost caused by equipping a carbon capture process is the main barrier to its commer-cial deployment. To reduce the capital and operating costs of carbon capture, great efforts have been madeto achieve optimal design and operation through process modeling, simulation, and optimization. Accuratemodels form an essential foundation for this purpose. This paper presents a study on developing a moreaccurate rate-based model in Aspen Plus for the monoethanolamine （MEA）-based carbon capture processby multistage model validations. The modeling framework for this process was established first. The steady-state process model was then developed and validated at three stages, which included a thermodynamicmodel, physical properties calculations, and a process model at the pilot plant scale, covering a wide rangeof pressures, temperatures, and CO2 loadings. The calculation correlations of liquid density and interfacialarea were updated by coding Fortran subroutines in Aspen Plus. The validation results show that the cor-relation combination for the thermodynamic model used in this study has higher accuracy than those ofthree other key publications and the model prediction of the process model has a good agreement with thepilot plant experimental data. A case study was carried out for carbon capture from a 250 MWe combinedcycle gas turbine （CCGT） power plant. Shorter packing height and lower specific duty were achieved usingthis accurate model.

This paper analyses the tail risk contagion of US market implied volatility(USIV)on China's energy futures(CEF)markets,exploring how to utilize operations in the CEF to achieve a safe *** CEF characteristics to simultaneously take both long-/short-positions and engage in long-/short-run investment horizons,this paper defines eight different CEF safe haven attributes to counteract the tail risk of extreme increases in *** trading data from March 27,2018,to October 30,2023,the empirical results show that,first,in the analysis of the entire sample period,China's coking coal futures can serve as a weak safe haven,aiding long-position investors in mitigating the tail risks associated with US gold and stock market implied *** coal futures also assist short-position investors in countering US stock market implied volatility tail ***,in the sub-period analysis,the safe haven attributes of CEF exhibit strong heterogeneity and asymmetry across different ***,the time span during which CEF exhibits a particular safe haven attribute does not persist for an extended period.
