Objective:To investigate clinical application of aconite root(Aconitum carmichaelii Debx.;hereinafter“aconite”)by traditional chinese medicine(TCM)physicians in TCM hospitals in beijing and explore the specific use of aconite and the effect of different doses on decoction time.Methods:This was a cross-sectional study using two-stage sampling.Questionnaires were administered among TCM physicians from TCM hospitals in beijing between September 2020 and August 2021.The questionnaire mainly included general demographics,clinical backgrounds of TCM physicians,and clinical application of aconite.The data analyses were performed using SPSS 20.0.Results:A total of 387 questionnaires were collected,of which 385 were valid.Of the 385 participating TCM physicians,331(85.97%)used aconite in clinical practice.The top three medical diagnoses treated with aconite were heart failure,diarrhea without cause,and chronic gastritis.The TCM pattern treated most frequently with a high dose of aconite was spleen-kidney yang deficiency,and the TCM pattern treated most frequently with a low dose was spleen yang deficiency,while spleen-kidney yang deficiency was treated most frequently with a common dose of aconite.The top three common formulas were Sini decoction,Mahuang Xixin Fuzi decoction,and Zhenwu decoction.Hei Shun Pian was the most common herbal pieces of aconite.The highest frequency of the maximum dose of aconite was 15 g,that of the minimum dose was 3 g,and that of the common dose was 10 g.There was a certain correlation between decoction time and the dose of aconite.Most TCM physicians advised their patients to take medicine twice a day.Conclusion:In this study,we refined and quantified the use of aconite and enriched the exploration of the clinical application of aconite besides its provisions in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate how community residents in beijing understood and used Traditional chinese medicine(TCM) in their medical practice.METHODS:This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 3410 community residents from four large communities of Tongzhou district in Beijng,China.A validated, self-administered questionnaire comprised of three sections was used to gather the data.A systematic sampling procedure was applied to recruit the community residents.RESULTS:A total of 3410 participants completed the questionnaire survey.It showed that in highly educated residents, 33.4%(170) knew of the names of 3-10 chinese herbals, 35.8%(182) knew of names of 3-10 traditional chinese patent drug.Among all the respondent residents, 80.7%(2753)believed that TCM herbal therapy and TCM non-drug treatments were effective in disease treatment, health enhancement, 85.7%(2923) had taken traditional chinese patent drug in their life,56.8%(1937) of residents had used herbal decoction, 40.0%(1365) had received non-drug treatment of TCM, such as acupuncture, massage, cupping, auricular acupuncture.Among the elderly residents, 11.4%(98) often used chinese patent drug and 9.8%(85) often used herbal decoction.In addition, 70.8%(2415) of residents were willing to accept knowledge and information on TCM for health enhancement and disease prevention, such as medicated diet, medicinal tea, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, although 82.8%(2825) of residents had never used them.CONCLUSION:chinese patent drug and herbal decoction are widely used in the communities in beijing, and there existed a possible close correlation between high educational level and better understanding of TCM.Age and occupation also correlated with the attitude to TCM therapies.The characteristics of the residents should be considered seriously in the course of promoting the understanding and application of TCM.

Objective:The objective of this study is to establish a nursing standard of integrated traditional chinese and Western medicine for patients with COVID‑19(mild and common)in beijing,to provide reference for clinical nursing of patients with COVID‑19(mild and common).Methods:Through online communication meeting with nurses who are in the frontline of anti‑epidemic,clinical investigation,literature research,and expert demonstration meeting are carried out to prepare the draft of the standard,and the Delphi method is applied to determine the standard of integrated traditional chinese and Western medicine care for patients with COVID‑19(mild and common)in beijing.Results:The nursing standard of integrated traditional chinese and Western medicine for patients with COVID‑19(mild and common)was established,which included 5 first‑level indicators,14 second-level indicators and 60 third‑level indicators.After two rounds of Delphi method,the positive coefficients of experts were 96%and 83%,the authoritative coefficients of experts were 0.89 and 0.91,and the Kendall’s coefficient of concordance(W)of experts were 0.12,0.09,0.10,0.13(Pchinese and Western medicine nursing for patients with COVID‑19(mild and common)in beijing constructed by the Delphi method is scientific and practical,which provides a reference for clinical application of integrated traditional chinese and Western medicine nursing to fight against COVID‑19 infection.

Tumor microenvironment (TME) plays an important role in the tumorigenesis, proliferation, invasion and metastasis. Thereby developing synergistic anticancer strategies with multiple mechanisms are urgent. Copper is widely used in the treatment of tumor chemodynamic therapy (CDT) due to its excellent laser-mediated photo- Fenton-like reaction. Additionally, copper can induce cell death through cuproptosis, which is a new modality different from the known death mechanisms and has great promise in tumor treatment. Herein, we report a natural small molecules carrier-free injectable hydrogel (NCTD Gel) consisted of Cu2+-mediated self-assembled glycyrrhizic acid (GA) and norcantharidin (NCTD), which are mainly governed by coordination and hydrogen bonds. Under 808 nm laser irradiation, NCTD Gel can produce reactive oxygen species (ROS), consume glutathione (GSH) and overcome hypoxia in TME, leading to synergistically regulate TME via apoptosis, cuproptosis and anti-inflammation. In addition, NCTD Gel’s CDT display high selectivity and good biocompatibility as it relies on the weak acidity and H2O2 overexpression of TME. Notably, NCTD Gel’s components are originated from clinical agents and its preparation process is easy, green and economical, without any excipients. This study provides a new carrier-free hydrogel synergistic antitumor strategy, which has a good prospect in industrial production and clinical transformation.

Systematic review and Meta-analysis of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding for the treatment of abdominal obesity

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review and analyze the effect of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding in treatment of abdominal obesity to provide a more reasonable clinical treatment regimen.METHODS:Ten databases were searched as of August 2022:the English databases Pub Med,Embase,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Wiley,and Scopus and the chinese databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,Wanfang,and Sino Med/chinese Biomedical Literature Database.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding as the main interventions to treat abdominal obesity were extracted.The investigators imported the citations into End Note version X9.1 for deduplication,screening,extraction,and integration.The risk of bias in the included RCTs was assessed according to the Cochrane Handbook.Rev Man 5.4 software was used to conduct a Meta-analysis of RCTs that met the inclusion criteria.RESULTS:Thirteen RCTs(1069 patients)were included in this study,and the data of eleven RCTs(966 patients)were include in the Meta-analysis.The results showed that acupoint catgut embedding can significantly change the weight and waist circumference of patients with abdominal obesity when compared to sham acupuncture or no treatment[mean difference(MD)=2.32,95%confidence interval(CI)(1.88,2.76),P<0.00001],[MD=3.47,95%CI(1.99,4.94),P<0.00001].The change in hip circumference after acupuncture was also significant[MD=0.89,95%CI(0.12,1.66),P=0.02].CONCLUSION:This study found that acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding can effectively treat abdominal obesity,therefore,these interventions can be used as clinical supplements and alternative therapies.The diagnostic criteria of the existing studies and the intervention measures of the control group are not unified.It will be necessary to improve the clinical study protocols and expand the sample size to further validate the reliability of the results obtained of this study.

Type I interferon(IFN)is considered as a bridge between innate and adaptive immunity.Proper activation or inhibition of type I IFN signaling is essential for host defense against pathogen invasion,tumor cell proliferation,and overactive immune responses.Due to intricate and diverse chemical structures,natural products and their derivatives have become an invaluable source inspiring innovative drug discovery.In addition,some natural products have been applied in clinical practice for infection,cancer,and autoimmunity over thousands of years and their promising curative effects and safety have been well-accepted.However,whether these natural products are primarily targeting type I IFN signaling and specific molecular targets involved are not fully elucidated.In the current review,we thoroughly summarize recent advances in the pharmacology researches of natural products for their type I IFN activity,including both agonism/activation and antagonism/inhibition,and their potential application as therapies.Furthermore,the source and chemical nature of natural products with type I IFN activity are highlighted and their specific molecular targets in the type I IFN pathway and mode of action are classified.In conclusion,natural products possessing type I IFN activity represent promising therapeutic strategies and have a bright prospect in the treatment of infection,cancer,and autoimmune diseases.

Objective:To explore the potential molecular mechanism of tetrahydropalmatine(THP)on acute myocardial ischemia(AMI).Methods:First,the target genes of THP and AMI were collected from SymMap Database,Traditional chinese medicine Database and Analysis Platform,and Swiss Target Prediction,respectively.Then,the overlapping target genes between THP and AMI were evaluated for Grene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction network analysis.The binding affinity between the protein and THP was assessed by molecular docking.Finally,the protective effects of THP on AMI model and oxygen and glucose deprivation(OGD)model of H9C2 cardiomyocyte were explored and the expression levels of target genes were detected by RT-qP CR in vivo and in vitro.Results:MMP9,PPARG,PTGS2,SLC6A4,ESR1,JAK2,GSK3B,NOS2 and AR were recognized as hub genes.The KEGG enrichment analysis results revealed that the potential target genes of THP were involved in the regulation of PPAR and hormone pathways.THP improved the cardiac function,as well as alleviated myocardial cell damage.Furthermore,THP significantly decreased the RNA expression levels of MMP9,PTGS2,SLC6A4,GSK3B and ESR1(P<0.05,P<0.01)after AMI.In vitro,THP significantly increased H9C2 cardiomyocyte viability(P<0.05,P<0.01)and inhibited the RNA expression levels of PPARG,ESR1 and AR(P<0.05,P<0.01)in OGD model.Conclusions:THP could improve cardiac function and alleviate myocardial injury in AMI.The underlying mechanism may be inhibition of inflammation,the improvement of energy metabolism and the regulation of hormones.
