Epidemiological investigation of Helicobacter pylori infection in elderly people in beijing

BACKGROUND The Helicobacter pylori(***)infection rate in China is approximately 50%.*** is a pathogenic factor of peptic ulcer and chronic *** addition,*** infection may also be associated with a variety of cardiovascular diseases in elderly people,such as arteriosclerosis,coronary heart disease,and cerebral infarction,having deleterious effect on their *** the aging of the population,the disease characteristics of the elderly population have been increasingly valued by the whole *** conducted an epidemiological survey of *** infection among elderly people in beijing to provide a basis for health management of *** *** To understand the epidemiological characteristics of *** infection in elderly people in *** A total of 1090 elderly people aged more than 60 years from different parts of beijing(urban and rural areas)were selected using the random cluster sampling *** questionnaires were completed during home visits and the 13C-urea breath test was conducted for *** *** The prevalence of *** infection was 46.5%(507/1090).The infection rate in men was 51.8%,which was significantly higher than that in women(42.5%;P<0.05).The *** infection rate in illiterate people was significantly higher than that in literate persons(53.5%vs 44.8%,P<0.05).The total infection rate of *** gradually increased with age and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The *** infection rate in smokers was significantly higher than that in non-smokers and those who had quit smoking(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The prevalence of *** infection among elderly people is 46.5%and the infection rate gradually increases with ***,education level,age,and smoking were determined to be *** infection risk *** relationship of *** infection with region,occupation,drinking,and diet structure needs to be further studied.

Start-up of PN-anammox system under low inoculation quantity and its restoration after low-loading rate shock

The burden and long-term trends of breast cancer by different menopausal status in China

Background: The burden of breast cancer in women of different menopausal status has not been assessed in China previously. We aim to evaluate and project the burden of breast cancer in different menopausal status in China. Methods: The incidence and mortality of breast cancer were estimated using the data of 554 cancer registries in 2017 and the trends of incidence and mortality of 112 cancer registries from 2010 to 2017. Data from 22 continued cancer registries from 2000 to 2017 were applied for long-term trend projection to 2030 using the Bayesian age- period-cohort model. Menopausal status was stratified by age, with premenopause defined as chronological age < 45 years, perimenopause defined as 45-54 years, and postmenopause defined as ≥ 55 years. Results: Approximately 352,300 incident cases and 74,200 deaths of breast cancer occurred in China in 2020, contributing to 2.6 million disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Perimenopausal women had the highest inci- dence, prevalence, and DALYs rates, with the rates being 100.3 per 100,000, 819.2 per 100,000 and 723.1 per 100,000 persons. While postmenopausal women had the highest mortality rates (25.5 per 100,000 persons). From 2000 to 2017, the largest increase in incidence and mortality for breast cancer was observed in postmenopausal women with an average annual percentage change (AAPC) of 5.6% and 2.94%. The number of breast cancer cases and deaths will increase to 452,000 and 98,800 in 2030, resulting in 3.2 million DALYs. Conclusions: The burden of breast cancer is rapidly increasing in China and varies among different menopausal status. Specific prevention and control strategies for women in different menopausal status will be more helpful in reducing the rapidly growing trends of breast cancer.

Effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on cardiovascular outcomes in elderly patients with comorbid coronary heart disease and diabetes mellitus

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors(SGLT2i)on cardiovascular outcomes in elderly Chinese patients with comorbid coronary heart disease(CHD)and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 501 elderly inpatients(≥60 years)with comorbid CHD/T2DM in Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and Endocrinology,Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2018 to December *** patients were divided into two groups according to the administration of *** the demographic characteristics and clinical data were *** outcomes,including all-cause mortality,major adverse cardiovascular events(MACE),and hospitalization for heart failure(HHF),were followed *** In the cohort,there were 167 patients in the SGLT2i group and 334 patients in the control *** the efficacy analyses,the incidence of MACE was lower in the SGLT2i group than in the control group:3.6%vs.9.3%(P=0.022).A lower risk of MACE was observed in the SGLT2i group[hazard ratio(HR)=0.40,95%CI:0.17-0.95].There was no significant difference in the incidence of all-cause mortality or HHF between the two *** significant difference of HR was observed for all-cause mortality(HR=0.41,95%CI:0.12-1.41)or HHF(HR=0.58,95%CI:0.12-2.81).CONCLUSIONS SGLT2i treatment exhibited benefits for elderly patients with comorbid CHD/T2DM with a lower risk for MACE.

Brugada syndrome(BrS)is one of inherited arrhythmia syndromes characterized by ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads and is associated with increased risk of ventricular fibrillation(VF)and sudden cardiac death(SCD)in the absence of a structural heart *** is a known trigger for Brugada ECG pattern(BrP).[1]Relevant studies showed that BrS patients with a fever induced type 1(F-type 1)BrP have a worse prognosis due to the higher risk of future arrhythmic events.[2]However,the prognosis of asymptomatic subjects with F-type 1 BrP remains to be elucidated,especially in the *** studies have found that in elderly patients,F-type 1 BrP led to VF or even syncope.[3,4,5]Thus,more clinical attention should be given rise on cases of elderly asymptomatic patients with F-type 1 BrP.

Preparation of Co/S co-doped carbon catalysts for excellent methylene blue degradation

S and Co co-doped carbon catalysts were prepared via pyrolysis of MOF-71 and thiourea mixtures at 800℃at a mass ratio of MOF-71 to thiourea of 1:0.1 to effectively activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS)for methylene blue(MB)*** effects of two different mixing routes were identified on the MB degradation ***,the catalyst obtained by the alcohol solvent evaporation(MOF-AEP)mixing route could degrade 95.60%MB(50 mg/L)within 4 min(degradation rate:K=0.78 min^(-1)),which was faster than that derived from the direct grinding method(MOF-DGP,80.97%,K=0.39 min^(-1)).X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the Co-S content of MOF-AEP(43.39at%)was less than that of MOF-DGP(54.73at%),and the proportion of C-S-C in MOF-AEP(13.56at%)was higher than that of MOF-DGP(10.67at%).Density functional theory calculations revealed that the adsorption energy of Co for PMS was -2.94 eV when sulfur was doped as C-S-C on the carbon skeleton,which was higher than that when sulfur was doped next to cobalt in the form of Co-S bond(-2.86 eV).Thus,the C-S-C sites might provide more contributions to activate PMS compared with ***,the degradation parameters,including pH and MOF-AEP dosage,were ***,radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)measurements revealed that ^(1)O_(2)might be the primary catalytic species,whereas·O~(2-)might be the secondary one in degrading MB.

Enrichment of anammox biomass during mainstream wastewater treatment driven by achievement of partial denitrification through the addition of bio-carriers

Anammox is widely considered as the most cost-effective and sustainable process for nitrogen ***,how to achieve the enrichment of anammox biomass remains a challenge for its large-scale application,especially in mainstream wastewater *** this study,the feasibility of enrichment of anammox biomass was explored through the realization of partial denitrification and the addition of *** using ordinary activated sludge,a sequencing batch reactor(SBR)followed by an up-fow anaerobic sludge bed(UASB)was operated at 25±2℃ for 214 *** long-term operation was divided into five phases,in which SBR and UASB were started-up in Phases I and II,*** eliminating oxygen and adjusting the infow ratios in Phases III-V,advanced nitrogen removal was achieved with the effuent total nitrogen being 4.7 mg/L and the nitrogen removal efficiency being 90.5%in Phase *** in-situ and ex-situ activity tests demonstrated the occurrence of partial denitrification and ***,16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing analysis revealed that Candidatus Brocadia was enriched from below the detection limit to in biofilms(0.4%in SBR,2.2%in UASB)and the foc sludge(0.2%in SBR,1.3%in UASB),while Thauera was mainly detected in the foc sludge(8.1%in SBR,8.8%in UASB),which might play a key role in partial ***,this study provides a novel strategy to enrich anammox biomass driven by rapid achievement of partial denitrification through the addition of bio-carriers,which will improve large-scale application of anammox processes in mainstream wastewater treatment.

BACKGROUND Hypertension usually clusters with multiple ***,the association between cardiometabolic multimorbidity(CMM)and mortality in hypertensive patients is *** study aimed to investigate the association between CMM and all-cause and cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality in Chinese patients with *** The data used in this study were from the China National Survey for Determinants of Detection and Treatment Status of Hypertensive Patients with Multiple Risk Factors(CONSIDER),which comprised 5006 participants aged 19–91 *** was defined as the presence of one or more of the following morbidities:diabetes mellitus,dyslipidemia,chronic kidney disease,coronary heart disease,and *** proportional hazard models were used to calculate the hazard ratios(HR)with 95%CI to determine the association between the number of CMMs and both all-cause and CVD *** Among 5006 participants[mean age:58.6±10.4 years,50%women(2509 participants)],76.4%of participants had at least one *** mortality rate was 4.57,4.76,8.48,and 16.04 deaths per 1000 person-years in hypertensive patients without any comorbidity and with one,two,and three or more morbidities,*** the fully adjusted model,hypertensive participants with two cardiometabolic diseases(HR=1.52,95%CI:1.09–2.13)and those with three or more cardiometabolic diseases(HR=2.44,95%CI:1.71–3.48)had a significantly elevated risk of all-cause *** findings were similar for CVD mortality but with a greater increase in risk *** In this study,three-fourths of hypertensive patients had *** with two or more comorbidities was associated with a significant increase in the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among hypertensive patients,suggesting more intensive treatment and control in this high-risk patient group.
