Life expectancy is increasing,leading to the continuous aging of the population in *** the health status of the older population is crucial to achieving healthy *** primary objective of the PENG ZU Study on Healthy Aging in China(PENG ZU Cohort)is to understand the natural progression of health status among the aging Chinese ***,the PENG ZU cohort aims to identify and validate multidimensional aging markers,uncover the underlying mechanisms of systemic aging and functional decline,and develop novel strategies and measures to delay functional decline and adverse health outcomes,while maintaining overall good *** PENG ZU cohort consists of 26,000 individuals aged 25 to 89 years from seven major geographical regions in *** data and biospecimens are collected according to standardized procedures at baseline and follow-up *** recruitment for the PENG ZU cohort was completed in October *** extensive analysis of multidimensional health-related data and bioresources collected from the cohort is anticipated to develop methods for evaluating functional status and elucidating multilevel,cross-scale interactions and regulatory mechanisms of healthy *** findings from this study will enhance the understanding of health changes due to aging,facilitate efficient and effective interventions to maintain functional ability,and reduce the incidence and severity of age-related diseases,thereby further promoting healthy aging.

Introduction:In November 2021,the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant was identified as the variant of concern and has since spread globally,replacing other cocirculating *** better understand the dynamic changes in viral load over time and the natural history of the virus infection,we analyzed the expression of the open reading frames 1ab(ORF1ab)and nucleocapsid(N)genes in patients infected with ***:We included patients initially admitted to the hospital for SARS-CoV-2 infection between November 5 and December 25,*** collected daily oropharyngeal swabs for quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction tests using commercial *** depicted the cycle threshold(Ct)values for amplification of ORF1ab and N genes from individual patients in age-specific groups in a time ***:A total of 480 inpatients were included in the study,with a median age of 59 years(interquartile range,42 to 78;range,16 to 106).In the<45-year-old age group,the Ct values for ORF1ab and N gene amplification remained below 35 for 9.0 and 11.5 days,*** the≥80-year-old age group,the Ct values for ORF1ab and N genes stayed below 35 for 11.5 and 15.0 days,respectively,which was the longest among all age *** Ct values for N gene amplification took longer to rise above 35 than those for ORF1ab gene ***:The time to test negative varied among different age groups,with viral nucleic acid shedding taking longer in older age groups compared to younger age *** a result,the time to resolution of Omicron infection increased with increasing age.

Efficacy and safety of anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy in treatment of advanced gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction cancer: A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Faced with limited and inadequate treatment options for patients with advanced gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction cancer(GC/GEJC), researchers have turned toward, with the support of promising clinical trials, anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy. But there are also different clinical trial results. To better assess its efficacy and safety, we integrated data from 13 eligible studies for a systematic review and *** To comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and safety of anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy in the treatment of advanced GC/GEJC *** PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library,and EMBASE databases were searched to identify eligible articles with outcomes including objective response rate(ORR), disease control rate(DCR), overall survival(OS), progression-free survival(PFS), and adverse events(AEs) of anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody *** Our study encompassed a total of 13 trials totaling 1618 patients. The outcomes showed a pooled ORR and DCR of 15%(95% confidence interval [CI]: 14%-18%) and 40%(95%CI: 33%-46%), respectively. The pooled 6-mo OS and PFS were 54%(95%CI: 45%-64%) and 26%(95%CI: 20%-32%), respectively, and the 12-mo OS and PFS were 42%(95%CI: 21%-62%) and 11%(95%CI: 8%-13%), respectively. In addition, the incidence of any-grade AEs and grade ≥ 3 AEs was 64%(95%CI: 54%-73%) and 18%(95%CI: 16%-20%), respectively. Most importantly, PD-L1 positive patients exhibited a higher ORR rate than PD-L1 negative patients(odds ratio = 2.54, 95%CI: 1.56-4.15).CONCLUSION Anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy has shown promising anti-tumor efficacy with manageable AEs in advanced GC/GEJC patients, with PD-L1 overexpressing patients exhibiting a higher ORR. What is more, the clinical efficacy of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 combined with traditional chemotherapy drugs is even better, although the occurrence of AEs still causes considerate concerns.

Motor imagery training induces changes in brain neural networks in stroke patients

Motor imagery is the mental representation of an action without overt movement or muscle activation. However, the effects of motor imagery on stroke-induced hand dysfunction and brain neural networks are still unknown. We conducted a randomized controlled trial in the China Rehabilitation research center. Twenty stroke patients, including 13 males and 7 females, 32–51 years old, were recruited and randomly assigned to the traditional rehabilitation treatment group（PP group, n = 10） or the motor imagery training combined with traditional rehabilitation treatment group（MP group, n = 10）. All patients received rehabilitation training once a day, 45 minutes per session, five times per week, for 4 consecutive weeks. In the MP group, motor imagery training was performed for 45 minutes after traditional rehabilitation training, daily. Action research Arm Test and the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the upper extremity were used to evaluate hand functions before and after treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to analyze motor evoked potentials in the affected extremity. Diffusion tensor imaging was used to assess changes in brain neural networks. Compared with the PP group, the MP group showed better recovery of hand function, higher amplitude of the motor evoked potential in the abductor pollicis brevis, greater fractional anisotropy of the right dorsal pathway, and an increase in the fractional anisotropy of the bilateral dorsal pathway. Our findings indicate that 4 weeks of motor imagery training combined with traditional rehabilitation treatment improves hand function in stroke patients by enhancing the dorsal pathway. This trial has been registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry（registration number： Chi CTR-OCH-12002238）.

Nodular liver lesions involving multiple myeloma: A case report and literature review

We report a case of a 62-year old woman admitted to our hospital for multiple nodular metastatic liver lesions found by ultrasonography in a regular medical examination. Routine laboratory tests were normal. PET-CT showed multiple bone lesions and nodular liver lesions. Liver biopsy revealed nodular infiltration of multiple myeloma with positive staining of kappa light chain. Further investigation of bone marrow aspiration, immunofixation and immunoelectrophoresis of serum protein, urine test for Bence-Jones protein, 132-microglobulin in serum and urine confirmed the diagnosis. The patient also coinfected with hepatitis C virus （HCV）. With six cycles of chemotherapy with VAD schedule, she achieved complete remission. In this report, a literature review of liver lesions involving multiple myeloma is also provided.
