The health significance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins,also known as remnant cholesterol,has been increasingly ***,evidence of their associations with cause-specific mortality in the general population was previously *** explore these associations and their heterogeneities across subgroups,a prospective cohort study was conducted including 3,403,414 community-based participants from China HEART,an ongoing government-funded public health program throughout China,from November 2014 through December *** study assessed mortality risk of all-cause mortality,cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality(including mortality from ischemic heart diseases(IHD),ischemic stroke(IS),and hemorrhagic stroke(HS),separately),and cancer mortality(including lung cancer,stomach cancer,and liver cancer,separately).During the 4-year follow-up,23,646 individuals died from CVD(including 8807 from IHD,3067 from IS,and 5190 from HS),and 20,318 from cancer(including 6208 from lung cancer,3013 from liver cancer,and 2174 from stomach cancer).Compared with individuals with remnant cholesterolcardiovascular disease mortality,as well as a reduced risk of mortality for certain types of cancer.

Proteomics analysis of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease with different Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome types before and after percutaneous coronary intervention

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the underlying protein molecular mechanisms of "Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome"(QS) and "Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome"(QD), as two subtypes of coronary artery disease(CAD) in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),following percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).METHODS: In this study, a total of 227 CAD patients with QS and 211 CAD patients with QD were enrolled;all participants underwent PCI. Label-free quantification proteomics were employed to analyze the changes in serum in two subtypes of CAD patients before and 6 months after PCI, aiming to elucidate the intervention mechanism of PCI in treating CAD characterized by two different TCM ***: Biochemical analysis revealed significant changes in tumor necrosis factor-α, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood stasis clinical symptoms observation, and Gensini levels in both patient groups post-PCI;Proteomic analysis identified 79 and 95 differentially expressed proteins in the QS and QD patient groups, respectively, compared to their control *** C8 alpha chain, complement factor H,apolipoprotein H, apolipoprotein B, plasminogen,carbonic anhydrase 2, and complement factor Ⅰ were altered in both comparison groups. Furthermore,enrichment analysis demonstrated that cell adhesion and connectivity-related processes underwent changes in QS patients post-PCI, whereas lipid metabolism-related pathways, including the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor signaling pathway and extracellular matrix receptor interaction, underwent changes in the QD *** protein-protein interaction network analysis further enriched 52 node proteins, including apolipoprotein B,lipoprotein(a), complement C5, apolipoprotein A4,complement C8 alpha chain, complement C8 beta chain,complement C8 gamma chain, apolipoprotein H,apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ, albumin, complement C4-B,apolipoprotein C3, among others. Home Blood Pressure Monitoring and Its Association With Blood Pressure Control Among Hypertensive Patients With High cardiovascular Risk in China

Objective:Home blood pressure monitoring(HBPM)is viewed as a facilitating factor in the initial diagnosis and long-term management of treated ***,evidence remains scarce about the effectiveness of HBPM use in the real *** study aimed to examine the associations of HBPM use with blood pressure(BP)control and medication ***:This prospective cohort study included hypertensive patients with high cardiovascular risk who were aged≥50 *** baseline,information about types of BP monitor,frequency of HBPM,perception of anti-hypertensive treatment,and measured office BP were *** the 1-year follow-up(visits at 1,2,3,6,and 12 months),information on medication adherence was collected at each *** 2 major outcomes were BP control at baseline and medication adherence during the 1-year follow-up.A log-binomial regression model was used to examine the association between frequency of HBPM and outcomes,stratified by the perceptions of anti-hypertensive ***:A total of 5,363 hypertensive patients were included in the *** age was(64.6±7.2)years,and 41.2%(2,208)were *** the total patients,85.9%(4,606)had a home BP monitor and 47.8%(2,564)had an incorrect perception of anti-hypertensive ***,24.2%(1,299)of patients monitored their BP daily,37.6%(2,015)weekly,17.3%(926)monthly,and 20.9%(1,123)less than *** baseline,the systolic BP and diastolic BP were(146.6±10.8)mmHg and(81.9±10.6)mmHg,respectively,and 28.5%(1,527)of patients had their BP *** of whether the patients had correct or incorrect perceptions of anti-hypertensive treatment,there is no significant association between HBPM frequency and BP control at *** the 1-year follow-up,23.9%(1,280)of patients had non-adherence to medications at least *** patients with an incorrect perception of anti-hypertensive treatment,those monitoring BP most frequently(daily)had the highest non-adherence rate(29.

The present study aimed to explore the potential of artificial intelligence(AI)methodology based on magnetic resonance(MR)images to aid in the management of prostate cancer(PCa).To this end,we reviewed and summarized the studies comparing the diagnostic and predictive performance for PCa between AI and common clinical assessment methods based on MR images and/or clinical characteristics,thereby investigating whether AI methods are generally superior to common clinical assessment methods for the diagnosis and prediction fields of ***,we found that,in the included studies of the present study,AI methods were generally equal to or better than the clinical assessment methods for the risk assessment of PCa,such as risk stratification of prostate lesions and the prediction of therapeutic outcomes or PCa *** particular,for the diagnosis of clinically significant PCa,the AI methods achieved a higher summary receiver operator characteristic curve(SROC-AUC)than that of the clinical assessment methods(0.87 vs.0.82).For the prediction of adverse pathology,the AI methods also achieved a higher SROC-AUC than that of the clinical assessment methods(0.86 vs.0.75).Second,as revealed by the radiomics quality score(RQS),the studies included in the present study presented a relatively high total average RQS of 15.2(11.0–20.0).Further,the scores of the individual RQS elements implied that the AI models in these studies were constructed with relatively perfect and standard radiomics processes,but the exact generalizability and clinical practicality of the AI models should be further validated using higher levels of evidence,such as prospective studies and open-testing datasets.

Background:Arterial stiffening increases with age and blood pressure and is associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD),but the relationship between blood pressure lowering and arterial stiffening is still uncertain,especially in older *** study aimed to evaluate the effect of intensive blood pressure treatment on the progression of arterial stiffness and risk of CVD in older patients with ***:The Strategy of Blood Pressure Intervention in the Elderly Hypertensive Patients(STEP)trial was a multicenter,randomized,controlled trial performed at 42 clinical centers throughout China,and 8511 patients aged 60-80 years with essential hypertension were enrolled and randomly assigned to systolic blood pressure(SBP)target of 110 mmHg to<130 mmHg(intensive treatment)or 130 mmHg to<150 mmHg(standard treatment).Patients underwent repeated examinations of the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)and ankle-brachial index(ABI)at baseline,and the arterial stiffness was evaluated at the 3-year follow-up.A total of 5339 patients who had twice repeated measurements were included in this *** in arterial stiffness between the intensive and standard treatment groups were analyzed using a multivariate linear regression *** Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to evaluate the effect of intensive treatment on primary CVD ***:The changes in baPWV were 61.5 cm/s(95%confidence interval[CI]:49.8-73.2 cm/s)in the intensive treatment group and 98.4 cm/s(95%CI:86.7-110.1 cm/s)in the standard treatment group(P<0.001).Intensive treatment significantly delayed the progression of arterial stiffness,with an annual change of 23.1 cm·s^(-1)·year-1 vs.36.7 cm·s^(-1)·year^(-1)of baPWV in the intensive and standard treatment groups,*** a median follow-up period of 3.36 years,primary CVD outcomes occurred in 77(2.9%)patients in the intensive treatment group compared with 93(3.5%)in the standard treatment *** tre

Pien Tze Huang(PZH),a class-1 nationally protected traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),has been used to treat liver diseases such as hepatitis;however,the effect of PZH on the progression of sepsis is ***,we reported that PZH attenuated lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced sepsis in mice and reduced LPS-induced production of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages by inhibiting the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)***,PZH stimulated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)phosphorylation to induce the expression of A20,which could inhibit the activation of NF-κB and MAPK *** of the bile acid(BA)receptor G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1(TGR5)in macrophages abolished the effects of PZH on STAT3 phosphorylation and A20 induction,as well as the LPS-induced inflammatory response,suggesting that BAs in PZH may mediate its anti-inflammatory effects by activating ***,deprivation of BAs in PZH by cholestyramine resin reduced the effects of PZH on the expression of phosphorylated-STAT3 and A20,the activation of NF-κB and MAPK signalling,and the production of proinflammatory cytokines,whereas the addition of BAs to cholestyramine resin-treated PZH partially restored the inhibitory effects on the production of proinflammatory ***,our study identifies BAs as the effective components in PZH that activate TGR5-STAT3-A20 signalling to ameliorate LPS-induced sepsis.

According to the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017,there are 132 million patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD)in China,^([1])and the prevalence of hypertension in Chinese patients with CKD(67.3%)is significantly higher than that in the general population(23.2%).^([2,3])CKD is both a cause and a consequence of hypertension,and these two conditions form a vicious cycle that leads to the high prevalence rate of hypertension in patients with *** hypertension accelerates the deterioration of renal function,which significantly increases the risk of developing end-stage renal disease(ESRD),as well as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,leading to poor patient outcomes.
