BACKGROUND Primary extra-pancreatic pancreatic-type acinar cell carcinoma(ACC)is a rare malignancy,and has only been reported in the gastrointestinal tract,liver,and lymph nodes until ***-pancreatic pancreatic-type ACC in the perinephric space has not been ***,we report the first case of ACC in the perinephric space and describe its clinical and imaging features,which should be considered when differentiating perinephric space *** SUMMARY A 48-year-old man with a 5-year history of hypertension was incidentally found to have an asymptomatic right retroperitoneal mass during a routine health *** tests were *** computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed an oval hypervascular mass with a central scar and enhanced capsule in the right perinephric *** surgical resection of the neoplasm,the diagnosis was primary extra-pancreatic pancreatic-type *** patient was alive without recurrence or metastasis during a 15-mo *** This is the first report of an extra-pancreatic ACC in right perinephric space,which should be considered as a possible diagnosis in perinephric tumors.

Etiological features of cirrhosis inpatients in beijing, China

Background The etiological spectrum of cirrhosis has changed over the years, but our knowledge of it is limited. The present study aimed to investigate the etiological features of cirrhosis inpatients and their variation in the past 18 years in beijing. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on all patients with cirrhosis diagnosed for the first time in Peking University People＇s Hospital from January 1, 1993, to October 25, 2010. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0. Results A total of 2119 cirrhosis inpatients were included in this study： 1412 （66.6%） male and 707 （33.4%） female. Chronic hepatitis B accounted for 58.7%; chronic hepatitis C for 7.6%; chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus co-infection for 0.8% （16 cases）; alcoholic liver disease for 9.4% （200 cases）; and autoimmune diseases for 9.4% （199 cases）. In the past 18 years, the percentage of chronic hepatitis B has decreased from 75.2% to 48.7%; alcoholic liver disease has increased from 5.1% to 10.6%; and autoimmune disease has increased from 2.2% to 12.9%. The percentages of chronic hepatitis B and alcoholic liver disease were higher among men, whereas the percentages of chronic hepatitis C, autoimmune diseases and cryptogenic cirrhosis were higher among women. Conclusions Chronic hepatitis B was still the most common etiology of cirrhosis in China, but the percentage has been decreasing. The percentages of alcoholic liver disease and autoimmune diseases have been increasing. The etiological spectrum of cirrhosis inpatients differed significantly according to sex.

Genetic,epigenetic,and metabolic alterations are all hallmarks of ***,the epigenome and metabolome are both highly complex and dynamic biological networks in *** interplay between the epigenome and metabolome contributes to a biological system that is responsive to the tumor microenvironment and possesses a wealth of unknown biomarkers and targets of cancer *** this perspective,we first review the state of high-throughput biological data acquisition(*** data)and analysis(*** tools)and then propose a conceptual in silico metabolic and epigenetic regulatory network(MER-Net)that is based on these current high-throughput *** conceptual MER-Net is aimed at linking metabolomic and epigenomic networks through observation of biological processes,omics data acquisition,analysis of network information,and integration with validated database ***,MER-Net could be used to reveal new potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets using deep learning models to integrate and analyze large multiomics *** propose that MER-Net can serve as a tool to guide integrated metabolomics and epigenomics research or can be modified to answer other complex biological and clinical questions using multiomics data.

Dear Editor,Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic form of regulated cell death driven by iron-dependent phospholipid peroxidation(Chen et al.,2021).The tumor suppressor p53 promotes ferroptosis by increasing lipid peroxidation and reducing glutathione(GSH)levels,while it also inhibits ferroptosis by activating the expression of several ferroptosis repressors,such as FSP1 and iPLA2β,indicating the complexity of p53’s function in modulating ferroptosis in a cell-specific or context-specific manner(Liu and Gu,2022).

The rising global prevalence of metabolic diseases has increased the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),leading to an increase in cases of NAFLD-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).To provide an updated literature review detailing epidemiology,risk factors,pathogenic pathways,and treatment strategies linked to NAFLD-related HCC,we conducted a literature search on PubMed from its inception to December 31,*** 25%of the global population suffers from *** annual incidence of HCC among NAFLD patients is approximately 1.8 per 1,000 *** age,male sex,metabolic comorbidities,unhealthy lifestyle habits(such as smoking and alcohol consumption),physical inactivity,genetic susceptibility,liver fibrosis,and degree of cirrhosis in NAFLD patients are important risk factors for NAFLD-related ***,low-calorie diet,moderate-intensity exercise,treatment of metabolic comorbidities,and cessation of smoking and alcohol are the main measures to prevent NAFLD-related *** addition,all patients with advanced NAFLD-related fibrosis or cirrhosis should be screened for *** suppression disorders and changes in the liver microenvironment may be the main pathogenesis of NAFLD-related *** resection,liver transplantation,ablation,transarterial chemoembolization,radiotherapy,targeted drugs,and immune checkpoint inhibitors are used to treat NAFLD-related *** treatment may lead to better overall survival,while immune checkpoint inhibitors may lead to worse overall *** the specific risk factors for NAFLD-related HCC,primary prevention is ***,the same treatment may differ substantially in efficacy against NAFLD-related HCC than against HCC of other etiologies.

In this study, treatment of C57BL/6J （wild type, WT） mice fed a high-fat diet （HFD） with retinoic acid （RA） decreased body weight and subcutaneous and visceral fat content, reversed the apparent hepatosteatosis, and reduced hepatic intracellular triglyceride and serum alanine transaminase （ALT） and aspartate aminotransferase （AST） concentrations. Moreover, RA treatment improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in WT mice fed a HFD. However, these RA-induced effects in WT mice fed a HFD were alleviated in liver specific Sirtuin 1 （Sirtl） deficient （LKO）mice fed a HFD. Furthermore, RA also could not improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in LKO mice fed a HFD. The mechanism studies indicated that RA indeed increased the expression of hepatic S irtl and superoxide dismutase 2 （Sod2）, and inhibited the expression of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1 c （Srebp- 1 c） in WT mice in vivo and in vitro. RA decreased mitochondrial reactive oxygen species （ROS） production in WT primary hepatocytes and increased mitochondrial DNA （mtDNA） copy number in WT mice liver. However, these RA-mediated molecular effects were also abolished in the liver and primary hepatocytes from LKO mice. In summary, RA protected against HFD-induced hepatosteatosis by decreasing Srebp-1 c expression and improving antioxidant capacity through a S irt 1-mediated mechanism.
