Market Rule or Equal Opportunity Rule:An Empirical Analysis Based on Acquisitions of Chinese Listed Companies

This paper examines the data of A-share listed companies in China from 2002 to 2017,drawing on the theory of equal opportunity and market rules in M&A transactions.This paper investigates the correlation between changes in tender offer policy and M&A tendencies and performance.The findings suggest that following the policy shift and the adoption of market rules,companies that secure an exemption from the mandatory tender offer obligation not only exhibit stronger M&A tendencies but also improved long-term M&A performance.This indicates that market rules are more suitable for China and contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the M&A market.The paper also presents evidence of a moderating effect,demonstrating that exemptions from the mandatory tender offer obligation positively influence the relationship between policy change and M&A performance.Lastly,this paper finds that state-owned and large-scale firms tend to exhibit a higher degree of M&A tendencies.

Water fluoride pollution has caused non-negligible harm to the environment and humans,and thus it is crucial to find a suitable treatment technology.In this study,La-Fe@PTA adsorbent was synthesized for the defluoridation of mine water.The results showed that the optimum conditions for defluoridation by La-Fe@PTA were p H close to 7.0,the initial F-concentration of 10 mg/L,the dosage of 0.5 g/L and the adsorption time of 240 min.Compared with SO_4^(2-),Cl^(-),NO_(3)^(-),Ca^(2+)and Mg^(2+),CO_(3)^(2-)and HCO_(3)^(-)presented severer inhibition on fluoride uptake by La-Fe@PTA.The adsorption process fits well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich model,and the maximum adsorption capacity of Langmuir model was 95 mg/g.Fixed-bed adsorption results indicated that fluoride in practical fluorinated mine water could be effectively removed from 3.6 mg/L to less than 1.5 mg/L within130 bed volume(BV)by using 1.5 g La-Fe@PTA.Furthermore,the adsorbent still had good adsorption capacity after regeneration,which confirms the great application potential of La-Fe@PTA as a fluoride ion adsorbent.The mechanism analysis showed that La-Fe@PTA adsorption of fluorine ions is a physicochemical reaction driven by electrostatic attraction and ion exchange.

Purpose:Countries with unique developmental paths and cultural lineages display significant variations in their out-of-school education systems.In this landscape,Belarus,a vestige of the disbanded Soviet Union,llustrates a distinct out-of-school education system,profoundly shaped by both Soviet and European Union countries influences.A meticulous examination and scholarly investigation into the Belarusian out-of-school educational framework could enable a more profound comprehension of the metamorphosis and transitions in the out-of-school education systems of nations that surfaced following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.This knowledge could subsequently render a more transparent understanding of the patterns guiding the evolution of global out-of-school educational systems.Design/Approach/Methods:This article focuses on out-of-school education in Belarus and discusses its development status and the following main characteristics:the dimensions of its historical development stage,legislative guarantee,essence and extension,training goals,and typical cases.Findings:Influenced by historical and geopolitical factors,Belarusian out-of-school education is found to embody the characteristics of both the Soviet Union and European countries.National resources are found to play an important role in the development of out-of-school education,effectively reducing the cost of education for families and shaping students'positive values.OriginalityValue:This study analyzes both the history and the current situation of out-ofschool education in Belarus and summarizes the country's successful experience in the development of out-of-school education.It can provide a positive point of reference for optimizing the public out-of-school education system in China and exert a positive influence on related educational reforms.

Emotion classification in textual conversations focuses on classifying the emotion of each utterance from textual conversations.It is becoming one of the most important tasks for natural language processing in recent years.However,it is a challenging task for machines to conduct emotion classification in textual conversations because emotions rely heavily on textual context.To address the challenge,we propose a method to classify emotion in textual conversations,by integrating the advantages of deep learning and broad learning,namely DBL.It aims to provide a more effective solution to capture local contextual information(i.e.,utterance-level)in an utterance,as well as global contextual information(i.e.,speaker-level)in a conversation,based on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(Bi-LSTM),and broad learning.Extensive experiments have been conducted on three public textual conversation datasets,which show that the context in both utterance-level and speaker-level is consistently beneficial to the performance of emotion classification.In addition,the results show that our proposed method outperforms the baseline methods on most of the testing datasets in weighted-average F1.

A historical overview of nano-optics:From near-field optics to plasmonics

Nano-optics is an emergent research field in physics that appeared in the 1980s,which deals with light–matter optical interactions at the nanometer scale.In early studies of nano-optics,the main concern focus is to obtain higher optical resolution over the diffraction limit.The researches of near-field imaging and spectroscopy based on scanning near-field optical microscopy(SNOM)are developed.The exploration of improving SNOM probe for near-field detection leads to the emergence of surface plasmons.In the sense of resolution and wider application,there has been a significant transition from seeking higher resolution microscopy to plasmonic near-field modulations in the nano-optics community during the nano-optic development.Nowadays,studies of nano-optics prefer the investigation of plasmonics in different material systems.In this article,the history of the development of near-field optics is briefly reviewed.The difficulties of conventional SNOM to achieve higher resolution are discussed.As an alternative solution,surface plasmons have shown the advantages of higher resolution,wider application,and flexible nano-optical modulation for new devices.The typical studies in different periods are introduced and characteristics of nano-optics in each stage are analyzed.In this way,the evolution progress from near-field optics to plasmonics of nano-optics research is presented.The future development of nano-optics is discussed then.
