Prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder after earthquakes among the elderly in China: A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND: The study aims to investigate the occurrence of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) after earthquakes among the elderly. METHODS: Data from cross-sectional studies focusing on the prevalence of PTSD after earthquakes among the elderly were collected from Pub med, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure in December 2019. The search terms included post-traumatic stress disorder, earthquake, and elderly. This study used Review Manager 5.0 to evaluate the impact of the results. In addition, forest plots, sensitivity analysis, and bias analysis were carried out on the included articles. The combined estimate of the risk ratio and the standard deviation of the 95% confidence interval(95% CI) were measurements of the size of the ***: There were 4,834 patients included from 10 eligible studies. The sample sizes of PTSD group and non-PTSD group were 1,277 and 3,557, respectively. The meta-analysis showed that the overall occurrence of PTSD after earthquakes among the elderly was 0.25;the occurrence in females was higher than that in males, and the occurrence in the same province indicated little difference(Wenchuan city 0.25 and Ya'an city 0.24).CONCLUSIONS: After earthquakes, the occurrence of PTSD is higher among the elderly than among other age groups, and higher among the females than among the males, while there is little difference among different areas within the same province. This indicated that prioritized specific psychological interventions should be provided to the aged and the females.

Background Road traffic injuries （RTIs） are a worldwide issue associated with increasing development and motorization. However, statistical studies do not include any analyses of beijing＇s geriatric population. Using data from the beijing emergency medical Center, we present the main characteristics of traffic injuries involving the elderly in beijing. We also provide objective information for those concerned with the safety of traffic systems and the prevention of traffic injuries. Methods In a longitudinal, retrospective study, data were collected on 1706 victims aged 65 years and older who sustained traffic injuries in beijing between 2004 and 2010. Personal information, time of injury event, emergency care response time, road user type, striking vehicle type, injury site, and severity of injury were analyzed using ;~2 tests and Logistic regression analysis. Results The annual rate of traffic injuries was 21.80 per 100 000 elderly people in beijing, and the morbidity rate decreased from 2004 to 2010 （P 〈0.001）. The mean age was （72.92＋5.67） years, and 911 （53.40%） of the victims were male. The majority of victims sustained head and lower limb injuries and were classified as being of medium severity. Traffic collisions occurred most frequently in the daytime excluding rush hours; these collisions included being hit by a car （85.64%） and pedestrian victim injuries （79.19%）. Our statistical analysis found three factors for injury severity： abdominal injuries （P 〈0.001）, number of injury sites （P=0.027）, and head injuries （P=0.034）. The decline in traffic injuries is due to a decrease in victims aged 65-74 years and pedestrians; the sevedty of RTIs also decreased. Conclusions This study highlights the declining trend in traffic injuries among older adults in beijing. However, traffic injuries remain a serious public health problem for the elderly and effective measures are required to reduce their incidence.

Background The two most prevalent causes of sudden cardiac death are ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest （VFCA） and asphyxiation cardiac arrest （ACA）. Profound postresuscitation myocardial dysfunction has been demonstrated in both VFCA and ACA animal models. Our study aimed to characterize the two porcine models of cardiac arrest and postresuscitation myocardial metabolism dysfunction. Methods Thirty-two pigs were randomized into two groups. The VFCA group （n=16） were subject to programmed electrical stimulation and the ACA group （n=16） underwent endotracheal tube clamping to induce cardiac arrest （CA）. Once induced, CA remained untreated for a period of 8 minutes. Two minutes following initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation （CPR）, defibrillation was attempted until return of spontaneous circulation （ROSC） was achieved or animals died. To assess myocardial metabolism, 18F-FluoroDeoxyGlucose Positron Emission Tomography was performed at baseline and 4 hours after ROSC. Results ROSC was 100% successful in VFCA and 50% successful in ACA. VFCA had better mean arterial pressure and cardiac output after ROSC than ACA. Arterial blood gas analysis indicated more detrimental metabolic disturbances in ACA compared with VFCA after ROSC （ROSC 0.5 hours, pH： 7.01±0.06 vs. 7.21±0.03, P〈0.01; HCO3：（15.83±2.31 vs. 20.11±1.83） mmol/L, P〈0.01; lactate：（16.22±1.76 vs. 5.84±1.44） mmol/L, P〈0.01）. Myocardial metabolism imaging using Positron Emission Tomography demonstrated that myocardial injuries after ACA were more severe and widespread than after VFCA at 4 hours after ROSC （the maximum standardized uptake value of the whole left ventricular： 1.00±0.17 vs. 1.93±0.27, P〈0.01）. Lower contents of myocardial energy metabolism enzymes （Na＊-K＊-ATPase enzyme activity, Ca2＊- ATPase enzyme activity, superoxide dismutase and phosphodiesterase） were found in ACA relative to VFCA. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Qiguiyin(QGY) formula in patients with severe pneumonia in China compared with a ***: This is a multicenter double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial with two parallel arms. There will be 530 patients enrolled and randomized into either the experimental group(QGY formula) or the control group(placebo). Therapies for patients in the two groups above will be based on the conventional therapy. The primary outcome is 28-day mortality. Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses that cause different diseases in humans and animals （Suet al., 2016）. Murine hepatitis virus （MHV） causes hepatitis, enteritis and central nervous system diseases in rodents and is one of the best- studied coronaviruses. MHV belongs to the genera betacoronavirus. Members from the same genera also include highly pathogenic coronaviruses such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus （SARS-CoV） and the Middle-East respiratory syndrome coronavirus （MERS-CoV）（Vijay and Perlman, 2016）.

Distributed Key Management Scheme against Sybil Attacks of Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless sensor network nodes （WSN nodes） have limited computing power, storage ca-pacity, conmmunication capabilities and energy and WSN nodes are easy to be paralyzed by Sybil at- tack. In order to prevent Sybil attacks, a new key distribution scheme for wireless sensor networks is presented. In this scheme, the key inforrmtion and node ID are associated, and then the attacker is dif-ficult to forge identity ID and the key inforrmtion corresponding to ID can not be forged. This scheme can use low-power to resist the Syhil attack and give full play to the resource advantages of the cluster head. The computing, storage and corrn^ni- cation is rminly undertaken by the cluster head o- verhead to achieve the lowest energy consumption and resist against nodes capture attack. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that com- pared with the traditional scheme presented in Ref. [14], the capture rate of general nodes of cluster re-duces 40%, and the capture rate of cluster heads reduces 50%. So the scheme presented in this pa-per can improve resilience against nodes capture at- tack and reduce node power consumption.

Melatonin is one of the main effective components which can hypnotize, calm, relieve pain, increase the body's immunity, be used for cancer therapy, and delaydecrepitude. A rapid, sensitive, and accurate HPLC method for the determination of melatonin in Mian Erkang capsules is described in this paper.
