OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of the full composition granules of Huanglian(Rhizoma Coptidis)(FGC) on the serum monocyte chemotactic protein-1(MCP-1) and connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) levels and kidney nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) expression in rats with high-fat diet-induced ***: Diabetes was induced in rats by feeding a high-fat chow combined with intravenous streptozotocin injection. Forty diabetic SpragueDawley rats were randomly assigned to a normal group(NG), model group(MG), irbesartan group(IG), and low-, middle-, and high-dosage FGC groups(LFGC, MFGC, HFGC), with eight rats per group. The IG rats received 31.25 mg·kg^(-1)·d^(-1) irbesartan tablets, whereas those in the LFGC, MFGC,and HFGC were administered 52, 312.5, and 625 mg·kg^(-1)·d^(-1) FGC, respectively. After 12 weeks,bodyweight(BW), left kidney weight(KW), hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c), serum creatinine(Scre), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), and serum MCP-1 and CTGF levels were determined, pathological changes of the kidney were recorded, and kidney NF-κB p65(A) expression was ***: The 24-h urine albumin and levels of HbA1c, Scre, BUN, and serum MCP-1 and CTGF were significantly increased in in the MG compared with the NG, as was the kidney NF-κB(p65) expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, clear pathological changes in kidney fibrosis were observed in the MG rats. Following irbesartan and FGC administration,the 24-h urine albumin and the levels of HbA1c,Scre, and serum MCP-1 and CTGF were significantly decreased in FCG groups compared with those in the MG, which is in agreement with the change in the kidney NF-κB(p65) expression, whereas the similarly significant decrease only exist in 24-h urine albumin and the levels of serum CTGF after irbesartan administration. BACKGROUND Patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)have a low incidence rate,poor biological activity,suboptimal response to conventional treatments,and a poor *** the previous cohort study on mCRC conducted by our team,it was observed that integrated chinese and western medicine treatment could significantly prolong the overall survival(OS)of patients with colorectal ***,we further explored the survival benefits in the population with BRAF V600E mutant *** To evaluate the efficacy of integrated chinese and western medicine in the treatment of BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal *** A cohort study was conducted on patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer admitted to Xiyuan hospital of China Academy of chinese Medical Sciences and Traditional chinese medicine hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January 2016 to December *** patients were divided into two *** A total of 34 cases were included,with 23 in chinese-western medicine cohort(cohort A)and 11 in western medicine cohort(cohort B).The median overall survival was 19.9 months in cohort A and 14.2 months in cohort B,with a statistically significant difference(P=0.038,hazard ratio=0.46).The 1-3-year survival rates were 95.65%(22/23),39.13%(9/23),and 26.09%(6/23)in cohort A,and 63.64%(7/11),18.18%(2/11),and 9.09%(1/11)in cohort B,*** analysis showed statistically significant differences in median OS between the two cohorts in the right colon,liver metastasis,chemotherapy,and first-line treatment subgroups(Pintegrated chinese and western medicine can prolong the survival and reduce the risk of death in patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer,with more pronounced benefits observed in patients with right colon involvement,liver metastasis,combined chemotherapy,and first-line treatment.

OBJECTIVE:The study aim was to use existing relevant indexes to establish an index series for the quantitative measurement of Qi deficiency pattern(QDP) in Traditional chinese medicine(TCM).METHODS:Seventeen indexes of arterial oxygen saturation(SaO_2),TCM pulse diagnosis,heart rate,and blood pressure were integrated into an index series,and 94 selected subjects were divided into a healthy control group,a mild QDP group,and a typical QDP *** three groups were then synchronously given a breath-holding(BH) test and index detections using TCM apparatus for auxiliary diagnosis and treatment and a *** detections were carried out repeatedly until there was no monotonic change in the value of the minimal SaO_(2d)uring a BH measurement(SaO_(2 min)) or in the duration of BH during a BH measurement(TBH).RESULTS:BH measurement and index detection data from 380 eligible cases were analyzed and a significant intergroup difference was found for 12 ***:An index series for quantitative QDP measurement could comprise the 12 effective indexes:RSaO_(2d)(rate of decline of SaO_(2d)uring a BH measurement),RSaO_(2r)(recovery rate of SaO_2 after a BH measurement),SaO_(2 min),BFV(blood flow velocity),TSaO_(2d)(the time at which SaO_2 started declining during a BH measurement),TBH,TSa_(O2 min)(the time of occurrence of the minimal SaO_(2d)uring a BH measurement),TSa O_(2 max)(the time of occurrence of the maximal SaO_2 after a BH measurement),PTP(pulse-touching pressure),SBP(systolic blood pressure),PWV(pulse wave velocity),and DBP(diastolic blood pressure).Of the indexes,RSaO_(2d)could play akey role in quantitative QDP measurement;RSaO_(2r) and Sa O_2 mincould be used to differentiate the QDP symptom of shortness of breath and as early-warning indexes for chronic obstructive pulmonary ***,TSaO_(2d),and TBHcould be used to quantitatively assess the QDP symptoms of spontaneous perspiration and shortness of breath.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of a diagnosis and treatment plan for moderate coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)that integrates traditional chinese(TCM)and western ***:One hundred twenty patients with moderate COVID-19 were randomized 1∶2 to the control group(n=40)and experimental group(n=80).Both groups received conventional western medicine treatment,and the experimental group also received TCM *** a 2-week period from diagnosis,we observed the time to clinical recovery(TTCR),rate of improvement on lung computed tomography(CT)imaging,time to defervescence,cough remission time,hospital discharge rate,average hospitalization stay,modified Medical Research Council(m MRC)scale score,clinical cure rate,laboratory findings,incidence of progression to severe or critical disease,and adverse ***:Among 120 enrolled patients,108 completed the *** baseline data did not differ between the experimental and control groups(all P>0.05).After treatment,the TTCR,rate of lung CT imaging improvement,time to defervescence,cough remission time,hospital discharge rate,average hospitalization stay(among discharged patients),m MRC scale score,clinical cure rate,and rates of normal values for laboratory findings were better in the experimental group than in the control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION:The diagnosis and treatment plan integrating chinese and western medicine showed improved clinical efficacy compared with western medicine alone for patients with moderate COVID-19 and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
