Insight to defects regulation on sugarcane waste-derived hard carbon anode for sodium-ion batteries

A great deal of attention has been paid on developing plant-derived hard carbon(HC)materials as anodes for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).So far,the regulation of HC has been handicapped by the well-known ambiguity of Na^(+)storage mechanism,which fails to differentiate the Na^(+)adsorption and Na^(+)insertion,and their relationship with the size of d-interlayer spacing and structural ***,bagassederived HC materials have been synthesized through a combination of pyrolysis treatment and microwave *** combined protocol has enabled to synergistically control the d-interlayer spacing and ***,the microwave activation has created slit pores into HC and these pores allow for an enhanced Na^(+)adsorption with an increased sloping capacity,establishing a strong correlation between the porosity and sloping ***,the pyrolysis treatment promotes the graphitization and it contributes to an intensified Na^(+)insertion with an increased plateau capacity,proving that the plateau capacity is largely contributed by the Na^(+)insertion between ***,the structural regulation of bagasse-derived HC has provided a proof on positively explaining the Na^(+)storage with HC *** structural changes in the pore size distribution,specific surface area,d-interlayer spacing,and the electrochemical properties have been comprehensively characterized,all supporting our understanding of Na^(+)storage *** a result,the HC sample with an optimized d-interlayer spacing and porosity has delivered an improved reversible capacity of 323.6 m Ah g^(-1) at 50 m A g^(-1).This work provides an understanding of Na^(+)storage mechanism and insights on enhancing the sloping/plateau capacity by rationally regulating the graphitization and porosity of HC materials for advanced SIBs.

BACKGROUND Three-vessel disease(TVD)with a SYNergy between PCI with TAXus and cardiac surgery(SYNTAX)score of≥23 is one of the most severe types of coronary artery *** aimed to take advantage of machine learning to help in de-cision-making and prognostic evaluation in such *** We analyzed 3786 patients who had TVD with a SYNTAX score of≥23,had no history of previous revascularization,and underwent either coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG)or percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)after *** patients were randomly assigned to a training group and testing *** C4.5 decision tree algorithm was applied in the training group,and all-cause death after a median follow-up of 6.6 years was regarded as the class *** The decision tree algorithm selected age and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD)as splitting features and divided the patients into three subgroups:subgroup 1(age of≤67 years and LVEDD of≤53 mm),subgroup 2(age of≤67 years and LVEDD of>53 mm),and subgroup 3(age of>67 years).PCI conferred a patient survival benefit over CABG in sub-group *** was no significant difference in the risk of all-cause death between PCI and CABG in subgroup 1 and subgroup 3 in both the training data and testing *** the total study population,the multivariable analysis revealed significant dif-ferences in the risk of all-cause death among patients in three *** The combination of age and LVEDD identified by machine learning can contribute to decision-making and risk assessment of death in patients with severe *** present results suggest that PCI is a better choice for young patients with severe TVD characterized by left ventricular dilation.

Singing,as a method of combining respiratory function exercise and vocal intonation therapy,provides a new direction for respiratory function exercise in patients with spinal cord *** randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of oral motor respiratory exercise and vocal intonation therapy on respiratory function and vocal quality in patients with spinal cord *** 31 included patients with spinal cord injury,18 completed the *** 18 patients were randomly assigned to undergo music therapy(intervention group,30 min/d,5 times a week,for a total of 12 weeks;n=9,7 males and 2 females;30.33±11.74 years old)or normal respiratory training(control group,n=9;8 males and 1 female;34.78±11.13 years old).Both patient groups received routine treatment *** and at 6 and 12 weeks after intervention,a standard respiratory function test,a voice test,the ***'s Respiratory Questionnaire,and a quality of life questionnaire were *** results showed that the inspiratory capacity,forced expiratory volume in 1 second,forced vital capacity,maximal mid-expiratory flow rate,sing-loud pressure level,and sustained note length were significantly increased in the intervention group compared with the control *** ***'s Respiratory Questionnaire and quality of life results of patients in the intervention group were significantly superior to those in the control *** findings suggest that oral motor respiratory exercise and vocal intonation therapy,as respiratory training methods in music therapy,are effective and valuable for improving respiratory dysfunction and vocal quality in patients with spinal cord *** study was approved by the Ethics Committee of China Rehabilitation Research center(approval No.2019-78-1)on May 27,2019 and was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(registration number:Chi CTR1900026922)on October 26,2019.

Background: The University of Wisconsin (UW) and histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (HTK) solutions are the two most frequently used liver graft preservation fluids. The present study aimed to compare their efficacy in end-stage hepatic alveolar echinococcosis patients who underwent ex-situ liver resection and autotransplantation (ELRA). Methods: A total of 81 patients received ELRA from August 2010 to March 2018. They were allocated into UW ( n = 48) and HTK groups ( n = 33) based on the type of solutions used. Demographic and operational data were retrospectively analyzed. Primary outcomes included 90-day mortality, incidence of early graft loss, primary dysfunction, and postoperative complications. Results: Demographic and operational characteristics were similarly distributed in the two groups. No statistically significant differences were observed with regard to 90-day mortality (12.77% vs. 12.12%) and early graft loss rate (8.51% vs. 9.09%) between the two groups. Patients in the UW and HTK groups showed a primary dysfunction rate of 27.66% and 27.27%, respectively. The UW group exhibited a higher incidence tendency of biliary complications, albeit with no statistical significance. Conclusions: This is the largest cohort study comparing the efficacy of the UW and HTK organ-preserving solutions in end-stage hepatic alveolar echinococcosis patients in ELRA settings. UW and HTK solutions presented similar efficacy and safety. A randomized clinical trial with larger scale is needed for further investigation in future clinical applications.

Background:Survival from pancreatic cancer is low *** the US,the 5-year relative survival has been slightly higher for women,whites and younger patients than for their counterparts,and differences in age and stage at diagnosis[Corrections added Nov 16,2022,after first online publication:a new affiliation is added to Maja Nikšić]may contribute to this *** aimed to examine trends in survival by race,stage,age and sex for adults(15-99 years)diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the ***:This population-based study included 399,427 adults registered with pancreatic cancer in 41 US state cancer registries during 2001-2014,with followup to December 31,*** estimated age-specific and age-standardized net survival at 1 and 5 ***:Overall,12.3%of patients were blacks,and 84.2%were *** 9.5%of patients were diagnosed with localized disease,but 50.5%were diagnosed at an advanced stage;slightly more among blacks,mainly among *** substantial changes were seen over time(2001-2003,2004-2008,2009-2014).In general,1-year net survival was higher in whites than in blacks(26.1%vs.22.1%during 2001-2003,35.1%vs.31.4%during 2009-2014).This difference was particularly evident among patients with localized disease(49.6%in whites vs.44.6%in blacks during 2001-2003,60.1%vs.55.3%during 2009-2014).The survival gap between blacks and whites with localized disease was persistent at 5 years after diagnosis,and it widened over time(from 24.0%vs.21.3%during 2001-2003 to 39.7%vs.31.0%during 2009-2014).The survival gap was wider among men than among ***:Gaps in 1-and 5-year survival between blacks and whites were persistent throughout 2001-2014,especially for patients diagnosed with a localized tumor,for which surgery is currently the only treatment modality with the potential for cure.

Nanobodies against African swine fever virus p72 and CD2v proteins as reagents for developing two cELISAs to detect viral antibodies

African swine fever virus(ASFV)poses a significant threat to the global swine ***,there are no effective vaccines or treatments available to combat ASFV infection in *** primary means of controlling the spread of the disease is through rapid detection and subsequent elimination of infected ***,a lower virulent ASFV isolate with a deleted EP402R gene(CD2v-deleted)has been reported in China,which further complicates the control of ASFV infection in pig ***,an EP402R-deleted ASFV variant has been developed as a potential live attenuated vaccine candidate ***,it is crucial to develop detection methods that can distinguish wild-type and EP402R-deleted ASFV *** this study,two recombinant ASFV-p72 and-CD2v proteins were expressed using a prokaryotic system and used to immunize Bactrian ***,eight nanobodies against ASFV-p72 and ten nanobodies against ASFV-CD2v were *** the production of these nanobodies with horse radish peroxidase(HRP)fusion proteins,the ASFV-p72-Nb2-HRP and ASFV-CD2v-Nb22-HRP fusions were selected for the development of two competitive ELISAs(cELISAs)to detect anti-ASFV *** two cELISAs exhibited high sensitivity,good specificity,repeatability,and *** coincidence rate between the two cELISAs and commercial ELISA kits was 98.6%and 97.6%,***,the two cELISA for detecting antibodies against ASFV demonstrated ease of operation,a low cost,and a simple production *** two cELISAs could determine whether pigs were infected with wild-type or CD2v-deleted ASFV,and could play an important role in monitoring ASFV infections in pig farms.

Electronic Detection of Escherichia coli O157︰H7 Using Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Field-Effect Transistor Biosensor

Field effect transistors (FET) based on Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWNTs) become the hot topic in fields of nano-electronic, clinical diagnostics, environmental testing etc. in recent years. In this paper, we reported a simple, scalable way to enrich semiconducting SWNTs by using HNO3/H2SO4. Then carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFET) biosensor was fabricated with the enrichment SWNTs for Escherichia coli O157︰H7 detection. The response of each CNTFET was monitored in real time before and after introduction of the Escherichia coli O157︰H7 at various concentrations. The results show that CNT-FET biosensors we fabricated are sensitive to change of concentration of solution and response time is really short.

Dietary Patterns Associated Metabolic Syndrome in Chinese Adults

Dietary pattern has been revealed to be associated with metabolic syndrome. However, the association was not well documented in Chinese due to the complexity of Chinese foods. We mainly assessed the dietary patterns and examined their effects on metabolic syndrome among Chinese adults. Four dietary patterns including ＇Refined Grains ＆ Vegetables＂ Pattern, ＇Dairy ＆ Eggs＇ Pattern, ＇Organ Meat ＆ Poultry＇ Pattern, and ＇Coarse Grains ＆ Beans＇ Pattern were extracted. ＇Dairy ＆ Eggs＇ Pattern was associated with a decreased odds of metabolic syndrome in women, and ＇Coarse Grains ＆ Beans＇ Pattern was associated with a decreased odds of hypertension in men. These results provided a scientific basis for future research and dietarv euideline Perfection.
